That is the very FIRST time I have heard about Yoko reporting on Julian`s loyalty towards his Mom. That is wonderful and very loving KNOWING that the bond is so strong and honoring those with that relationship. AND I always liked Free as a Bird best of these new ones. Now I know why it is a Lennon song exclusively. YEA as a kid you were either Beatles OR Stones, then Lennon OR McCarthy I was always Lennon. NOW I love them all and can see the clear difference between the moderns` and us.
I doubt it will really be the final song. There's so much more in the archive, Peter Jackson is keen to work on more Beatles projects and even Paul says "it's probably the last Beatles song" which leaves it open for more in the future.
Undoubtedly what's left in the archives are outtakes, jams, and cover tunes. "The last Beatles song" means the last original number worked on by all of them even if artificially so. Their only complete, unreleased original recording wasn't even a song.
I think free as a bird and real love are better and would've hit number one if they'd had the air play and exposure now and then has. Still love it but in a sentimental way.
Anyone who lived through it in the 1990's remembers free as a bird did go to #1 but it wasn't there for very long. While Real love won an award Grammy?
Now and Then is definitely better than the previous two tunes. Not using the cut section makes it much more universal to listen to. You can associate it to your own life easily. I'm glad to hear Pete Best was able to receive royalties. That was a good gesture by Paul to make sure he was included.
I remember being SUPER excited waiting for each episode of The Anthology TV series. This WAS so special. The music was the first time, officially, a lot of demos and alternative takes had been released. And of course, you had music going all the way from the Pete Best years up to the rooftop performance. And the TV series? Was in the Beatles own words and those who were with them. I think maybe the timing was not right? There are many big factors between the anthology singles and "Now & Then" which contributed to one being disappointing and the other exceeding expectations in ways even Paul and Ringo could never have seen happening. But, 2nd and 7th place isn't terrible. However, by previous standards, you have to feel for the surviving Beatles. David
I believe "Free As A Bird" would hit number one for sure because of the overwhelming popularity of the Beatles now versus 1995. I think social media particularly UA-cam has enabled so many more people to experience the Beatles .where in 1995 wouldn't have.
Wasn't a fan of the 95 output.. sounded like someone parading The Beatles to me.. Really like Now And Then. Liked Lennon's demo abd some of the fan versions... i think it sounds like 70s Lennon ie Mind Games, #9 Dream
@@60sbaby456 I didn't have high hopes for Free As a Bird when I first learned about the recording, but I was at least expecting sound quality more along the lines of Now & Then. I didn't realize back in 1995 that digital technology hadn't progressed far enough yet. It sounded terrible and turned me off right away. Plus, I found it a dull and dreary tune. A title like "Free As a Bird" should have heralded something more inspirational.

Thanks for this. An enjoyable and informative watch!
My pleasure!

"Now and Then" had the strongest "Beatles-vibe" of the three tracks recorded after John's passing.

I think you mean "parodying" not "parading."
69 Millions dollars pete best earn? Wow
Six to nine million . . . listen again.
The song is a dirge and it looks like they spent 2 seconds on the sleeve design.
A dreary tune, but a damned sight better than "Free As a Bird" or "Real Love" which were both lame garbage.
Free as a bird is a beautiful sound imo❤
