Timely video! Harrison appeared to be often difficult to work with. McCartney seemed to inadvertently put his foot in it on occasion too. Thankfully they had Ringo.

George the bitter but funny Beatle.
Dollar it all stems from George's raw feelings of Paul and John looking down on him.
And, yes, I think it was him ONLY doing it because of the money. Maybe some resentment towards Paul for having a more successful solo career?
As for the issue with differing memories? Why would 4 people who are different in personality and views have the same memory or opinion of Beatles history?
      David

@@davidaston5773It was Paul always telling George what to play, you can see it in tje Get Back film. Paul took over too much. George could wrote great songs amd parts.

Bitter to the end but I always appreciated Harrison's capacity for stating his feelings openly, right or wrong. Same as I have always appreciated Richy's village mentality of trying to think how his words might effect others before he says them. John owned the fact that he was a piece of work and sometimes a sh***y human being. I can respect that, too.
Paul, just nope. He tries to act nice and humble but then does a whole list of things that show him as selfish and arrogant. Even as late as the 2000s where he made a snide, graceless comment to a TV show host about a harmless fan they'd just met in the street. No thought to how that would look when the episode aired. I can like his music but I still think he's an a-hole. LOL

Sadly, it would seem George, despite claiming to be spiritual and free of ego, had grudges or hang overs from the last few years of being a Beatle (and all the years since then).
From his perspective, he had been his own man and artist since the break up.
So, to be back, in a situation where Paul gave orders, must've annoyed him.
To be fair to Paul, I feel it wasn't his intention to make George feel that way, but the truth?
No matter how much one changes as a person and how they treat others - OTHERS may still see you as you were back when you did this or that.
That's just my guess from everything I've learned about the Beatles from this channel and other sources.
I'm sure Paul would explain George's attitude as sibling rivalry. Even when they were the Beatles there was a brother type relationship. And like brothers, they had clashes as much as they created magic in the studio.
They were family. During life and beyond.
Great video. Thank you so much.
    David

Absolutely spot on. George held resentment to Paul till his dying day and there was nothing mccartney couldve done to fix it. He was on eggshells during the anthology project and done everything he could to appease George. Its a shame really , as mccartney rightfully should be leading and directing the remaining beatles. He was the chief writer , singer , spokesman among them.

I worked with a guy whose brother was Harrisons maintenance/groundskeeper for his Hawaiian estate. If i remember right he lived in the guest house. Anyhow, George came up to him and handed him some of his "crap demos" and said to hold on to them as they may be worth some money one day. I know he talked to an auctioneering company just to try and get a feel for what they thought the demos would bring in. He was told around $20,000. This was in 2003 and i never heard if he ever sold them or not.

"I hope someone does this to all my crap demos when I'm dead" lololol. That sorta kinda did happen with Brainwashed!

George could never admit a lennon or mccartney song was good. He said it through clenched teeth once or twice , bur he let personal issues get in the way of being genuine.
A bitter man he was after 1970.

I actually worked with a guy whose brother was Georges' groundskeeper for his Hawaiian estate. George actually came up to him and handed him some of his "crap demos" and said "here you go, these might be worth something someday". This was in 2003 (when i heard the story) and i know he consulted an auctioneering company but decided against selling them at the time. I havent talked to my former coworker since 2005 so i dont know if they were ever sold or not. Maybe I'll try and look him up and get an update. Stay tuned.

Unfortunately, George became a bit jaded. When he realized the significance of writing the music, and the mountains of money , Paul and John were receiving, for writing the songs.

I find it amusing that Ringo, the supposed "funny" Beatle doesn't/didn't find Flying Circus at all amusing. Just more insight that Richard has depths he's kept untouched by the public. Though I agree with him that Harrison's idea was a bad one. The world already has The Rutles.

I suspect there are 2 things that we'll probably never know:
    1. Did George mean the song was rubbish or the quality of the cassette demo?
    2. Comments like "Where did you learn to do that?" taken out of context, can either be very dismissive and sarcastic, or a sign of appreciation between good friends.

Oh. ..yes, all great musicians can be critical & difficult even these guys but look at the songs they produced & 99% of the time John wrote fantastic lyrics. I love Free As A Bird & Real Love & what the others did with it & even tho it's a simple song Now & Then is simply sublime & to hear John's crystal clear voice from the grave after all these years. I'm SO glad they persisted with Now & Then coz it's a masterpiece & the LAST recording they'll ever do. I even bet that George would have liked it in the end as it has come together (pardon the pun) beautifully. I've always loved music & I can't stop playing it.

Great video, there were a few little tidbits in there that I'd never heard before. You've obviously done a lot of research. Personally, I think George was right, it really isn't a great song. It's nice that there's a new Beatles song out there but it's far from being as good as Free As A Bird or Real Love.

Well McCartney comes off rather poorly. I'll say something else about him: he's not on Mark Knopfler's star-studded remake of "Local Hero". Ringo and Zak are. I think there's a reason why.
And I love all the people on that disc. It would be fantastic if this channel host (sorry I don't know his name yet) would consider making a documentary of this new recording as well.
