    Bro, a subplot for the spirit world avatar could be the white lotus is debating whether to kill the avatar's inert body to start the cycle of reincarnation and try again and the avatar's friends are running a heist-like campaign to steal the avatar's body and take it to safety!

    The motivation for why the Avatar turns evil could be that they know of the past Avatars' failures. Think about it, Roku utterly failed to keep peace and got himself killed. Aang was born (which already means the world is without an Avatar for the next dozen years or so at the very least) and then disappeared, which allowed a war based on an extreme ideology to continue for a century until he was finally able to stop it. Kyoshi let Chin conquer almost the entire Earth Kingdom and waited until he threatened her own home before she stopped him. And Korra, well, let's just say she's far from perfect as well. Perhaps the only way to keep the world from destroying itself and continuously descending into more and more wars is to use the power of the Avatar to assume ultimate control and force peace upon it. It's a twisted way of thinking and kind of akin to Sith philosophy. Still, I think it'd make for a misguided but ultimately understandable villain.

      Phendan I think that would be a great idea, and would definitely be a very interesting character. Maybe the protagonist tires to convince them that it's not the only way, and in many other movies and tv shows, this would work, but here, the avatar is completely set on his ways and nearly kills the protagonist, and puts him into a coma. The avatar continues building his empire, establishing control over the world. The protagonist awakes, and Rumors spread that the protagonist is in fact alive, due to reckless behavior, and when these rumors are confirmed, the avatar starts putting up wanted signs everywhere, forcing the protagonist to go into hiding. While the protagonist is in hiding, they build up their powers and try to get stronger, until eventually they are strong enough to fight the avatar. Maybe the avatar's father or mothe, or maybe even spouse, ashamed of their child/spouse, and wanting to bring them to justice, help the protagonist. Maybe there could even be a plot twist where the protagonist is actually the avatar's sibling or child.

      It's not a bad suggestion. I will say that it sounds a lot like Aang's journey, just with the roles being reversed. Personally, I would probably make the conflict happen between two groups, the Avatar and his disciples that want to help him ascend to ultimate power and then the good guys as a military group in their own right. They could either be similarly strong and constantly face each other in large battles or they could make the good guys like a resistance cell trying to undermine the Avatar's forces with guerrilla tactics. Either way, I'd want the show to focus on the military strategies of bending armies as well as the human cost of war because that's something we didn't see a lot of in either series even though there was plenty of war to go around. You could show several instances of the resistance slowly but surely making progress against the Avatar's army and then getting utterly destroyed by the Avatar himself, requiring them to regroup and focus on finding a way to take him/her out first. You could do this over 12 or maybe 24 episodes. I don't think this needs to be as involved a story as the original or Korra, but I'd sure love to see it realized.

      I actually really love the idea of a villainous avatar and I think your idea for why he/she would be a villain is pretty solid. I'd definitely watch it. I also like Dark Stormer's idea of the protagonist trying to convince the Avatar to change his ways, although I would like to see them succeed in the end(though I'm not opposed to them failing and ending the story another way). I would find it interesting if perhaps there was a war going on while the Avatar was growing up, and in the war he ended up losing someone(or multiple people) close to him. In this scenario, I imagine the protagonist being someone who was close to him, but after the war, the Avatar has difficulty dealing with the loss of his loved ones, and has built up hatred for the way the world works. He ends up disappearing for a while and no one hears from him for years, and when he returns he begins implementing his plan to basically take over the world. Perhaps he at first tries to convince the protagonist to join his side, but obviously they won't, realizing how crazy it is and that their friend has basically gone off the deep end. Still, there should be a connection between them, and underlying tones of the protagonist wanting to save the avatar from his crazy plans, and still having hope that he can change his ways, despite them now being on opposing sides and working/fighting against each other. Maybe he/she succeeds, maybe not, but those are my thoughts :p

      0:34 I feel like he was were too quick to do dismiss the ideas of the dark avatar, like How this new dark avatar is born you can have a situation of nature versus nurture will this person be naturally chaotic will be opposed to the idea, how this person feel knowing that they are the embodiment of chaos and darkness do they feel very conflicted especially if they had a relatively good life, This character could feel very isolated and alone no one wanting to trust him/her and What kind of conversation we can have with this dark avatar speaking to his/her past incarnation, They could found out about this dark power when they learn they could control dark spirits, Imagine at first they think they are the avatar but later found the real avatar and they learned that he/she is the dark avatar, they don’t have to necessarily be the villain, you could have a very cool story about how they Cope being the dark avatar it could be a tragic tale,
      Imagine it takes place in korra time The next dark avatar is born and she later finds out she is the reincarnation of the avatar’s uncle everybody’s afraid of her and he/she just wants to live his/her own life but korra thinking that the dark avatar is always evil and won’t gave them a chance,
      This is a lot to read and I hope that you read this because there is some creative ideas you could do with the dark avatar because I find this idea an interesting concept of are we born just like this or are we shape by our environment so please I really like to debate this with you and hear what’s your opinion on this,

    The one where they flee to the spirit world is amazing because you could insert a layer of subtext that poses it as suicide. There could be a long period of time where they actually *try* to become the avatar, to help people, to bring balance. But even with Korra and Aang, we saw moments where the avatar burden was *overwhelming.* And eventually they can only really see one way out.
    Posing this as an arc to help this avatar overcome their depression and their anxiety could be presented so beautifully and I think if it's done right it could be a meaningful exploration of mental illness - an empathetic sort of story arc. I think it'd be a better way to present these themes than certain other shows coming out lately.

      Also, it would be great to see the white lotus and some non-avatar related groups actually mantaining balance by themselves. The avatar could be unwilling, then fail to stop a fascist government only for things to be done right by, for example, the air nomads, then go away and not have the fucking world get ruined because there's no avatar.
      You could also have the whole arc revolving around "bad" people uprising because they think that without no avatar they can be the new rulers of the world only for the avatar to return and trust the whole balance thing to some organisation.

      I think the keyword here is subtext. Avatar is great at being a kid's show dealing with real-world adult themes. So personally, I feel that the metaphor would be beautiful, but it really shouldn't try to hit the audience with it too hard. Ultimately, I do dig the concept.

    • @justcallmeteacup4711
      @justcallmeteacup4711 6 років тому +5

      I think it's great to address anxiety and depression in shows and movies, especially as someone who struggles with both, but there's a place for heavy topics like suicide and I don't think that this show is one of those places. At the end of the day, Avatar is still primarily targeting a younger audience. There wouldn't be the opportunity to really unfold the topic here. Not to say the plot should or would revolve around suicide but to make it into something that is alluded to in passing and never really addressed again, especially during their time and, I guess recovery, in the spirit world, feels...dismissive. I'm trying to think of way to incorporate that in a way that would be appropriate for younger viewers. Maybe them stepping into the spirit world could act as a metaphor for suicide rather than it being literal? I'm not sure. Like the Carlos Rodriguez said, it really depends on the subtext. That aspect aside, I still love the idea

    So, for a villain Avatar...
    Abuse. They grow up in a shitty environment, and it makes them realize just how shitty the world is.
    So they fix it.
    And since 10 000 years of the Avatar being good and looking for balance hasn't worked, they pursue a different path.
    The Avatar is GOOD. Period. Making them evil won't work. Which is why you shouldn't be saying "villain" or "bad person". In their heart, they are good, they're just taking a different approach to things. The no mercy route.
    So when the Avatar emerges from wherever they were, they have a cynical worldview, and choose to destroy all evil that they can find in the world, no matter how small it is.

    • @EvilParagon2
      @EvilParagon2 7 років тому +14

      Gah, I typed a whole thing and accidentally hit Cancel instead of Reply.
      The short version of what I typed:
      I don't believe they bend calcium, but rather bend the literal elements of Ancient Greek Chemistry, being Earth, Fire, Air, and Water.
      The biggest piece of evidence comes from the fact that Earth Benders don't bend metal, they bend the earth inside of metal. Dirt and rocks in our world are made up of mostly Iron, which means that if earthbenders were confronted with a large solid piece of iron, that they could move it, but that's not the case. We see that time and time again, "metalbending" relies on metal's impurities and not the metal itself and judging by the colouration of weaponry, armour, all that, good chance these contain iron.
      Yes in Ancient Greek Chemistry, metal was considered Earth with a little fire and water, but I think Avatar uses that system as its roots and not really law, kind of like Roman Mythology. It uses greek as the roots but changes it up slightly. I think in Avatar, metal is metal, but metal is related to Earth albeit still metal and therefore not bendable.
      If we use our elements, shouldn't waterbenders be airbenders because it's just oxygen and hydrogen?
      In AGC, air was gas and purity, water was liquids, earth was solids and hardness, fire was life and hot.
      Even though AGC never mentions bone as far as I know, I would assume Bone to be mostly Earth with a little water, maybe fire too.
      Now here's my idea on how to make a bonebender (not a calciumbender).
      A kid is born of an Earthbender mother and a Waterbender father. He so far demonstrates no bending.
      One day on a full moon he practices Bloodbending to see if he could even with self doubts, but shockingly he could. He could "bloodbend".
      He claims to be a waterbender and using the full moon tries to waterbend but fails.
      He discovers he is able to control creatures without a full moon but still can't water or earth bend.
      He has a toothache and goes to the dentist. The dentist sticks a needle in and in a sudden reaction throws his arms forward pulling out the tooth. It levitates in the air. He drops it.
      He has been cursed all his life with the idea that he was a bloodbender, something illegal, and didn't have the waterbending to back it up, yet just then he moved a bloodless object, a tooth. He starts to wonder if he really is a bloodbender.
      He has dinner a few days later and notices it's pig-chicken drumsticks, the blood has been boiled out, if he were to control something it wouldn't be the blood. He picked up the drumstick from his father's plate and levitated it to himself with his parents shocked. He just moved the drumstick. Discussion ensues, he finishes the meat off the drumstick and is left with a bone. He tests to see if his theories were right, and indeed they were. He can control bone.
      Still lacking the ability to control either water or earth, he feels outcasted despite only his parents knowing and only wanting what is best for him.
      His only power is basically bloodbending, but it's basically more dangerous because while bloodbending could kill people and control them, bonebending has all that and it is easier to kill people.
      Bloodbender's fastest way to kill someone is to take all the blood away from their heart which could take minutes. Bonebenders could literally just separate the skull and the spine.

    • @bigmacintosh3106
      @bigmacintosh3106 7 років тому +4

      i think you're overthinking this a little bro. if nothing else there is carbonate in bones, and we know they can bend coal, so they can probably bend carbon. and didn't we actually see a water bender pull water out of the air? seems like they just need to break compounds down to their basic elements to bend them, and there are plenty of earthy/earth metal elements in bone. the thing is you would need a bender who knows how to use small amounts of a substance to bend larger things, kind of like how metal bending works. and you would also need a bender who knows how to break materials into smaller pieces and making coarse sand into fine sand sounds like a good place to start so there would be a justification for none figuring out how to do it yet since you would need to be a top tear sand and metal bender to even try to bone bend.

    SO HERE IS MY IDEA: The avatar spirit transfers into a womb after the previous avatar dies(of course)but then the egg splits into two creating twins. So one of the twins may have fire and earth bending while the other has water and air bending.This would mean that the twins would have to work as a perfect team in order to be the best avatar. So if one of the twins were to go one the opposing side it would cause major problems.

    I like the blood-bender MC idea, perhaps have the avatar as an outside factor, something that shows up very rarely during the show. That way they can actually depict the Avatar as this unstoppable badass that they are meant to be, even perhaps have the avatar trying to hunt down this rogue bloodbender. That way any time the Avatar shows up its a real "Oh shit run!" kind of moment because captain glowing eyes is about to try and lay the smackdown on the MC.
    That and I really think bloodbending is one of the most interesting forms of bending in the universe that deserves a deeper look into, alongside lightning.

    I like the idea of a "forced avatar", someone bending elements using only one element. Like an earth bender carrying around sulfur and iron scraps and they spin the pile of flammable material faster and faster till it combusts then shooting it like a fire ball for the illusion of fire bending. Or an air bender using pockets of hair compressed around water to move a body of water around like they're bending the water itself.

    • @lazypoo6117
      @lazypoo6117 6 років тому +55

      It would have to be a fire bender. By being able to control very small amounts of "fire" in an object, they could effectively bend all four elements:
      - Fire (obviously)
      - Molten Rock/"Earth" (just keeping the rock hot enough to control, but cool enough to be solid)
      - Liquid Lava/"Water" (Essentially liquefying rock at will and controlling it)
      - Smoke/"Air" (controlling tiny embers in the air to influence the movement of smoke, like how toph uses miniscule rocks to bend metal)
      You'd have to establish this as something that took an exceptionally dedicated individual a lifetime to learn, and something that most benders would be totally incapable of, so you don't ruin the mechanics of bending entirely.

    • @julianame9158
      @julianame9158 6 років тому +18

      If it's solid it's not molten? And water doesn't look like lava either. It's a cool idea, but it won't really fool anyone. I think it'd be easier for an air bender to control water, while maintaining the illusion.

      The thing is, it's really not as effective as bending your own element, so the person who did this would probably be weaker than if they had trained at their own element, unless they developed these techniques to be more familiar with the bending of other elements and defend against benders of those elements more efficiently.

    My idea for a third Avatar series would actually be a sequel to the Legend of Korra, but it would take place 60 more years later, and Korra is still the Avatar, but is an old woman of course. In the 60 years, the world has changed even more drastically, with weird technology that's powered by different bending, the four nations are completely different, with the Earth kingdom being broken off into smaller nations, the north and southern water tribes are completely split and the new air nomads have completely split up with the air temples being independent city-states, as well as air nomads living in every nation. New mutation elements, as well as variations of elements appear. Energy bending would start appearing all over the planet, sand benders can now melt sand into glass, some people could bend spirits themselves, offspring of a water and fire bender can create a firebender whose fire bending draws from the moon, instead of the sun, like a cold, dark firebending. Other spirits would decide to converge with other people the way Raava converged with Wan, to create alternative Avatar cycles, some would do it to help the Avatar to keep peace, and others would do it to try to destroy humanity. Possible more bizarre bending techniques and variations that I haven't though of could appear, as well. Because the world is more complex with many nations now, threats are now more common and dangerous, because of this, Korra and the White Lotus decide to create a peacekeeping army, similar to the Kyoshi Warriors maybe call it the "Lotus Warriors", which would be based in Republic City. A possible conflict in this series could be Vaatu corrupting the Avatar spirit, since Korra destroyed Unavaatu, Vaatu is now growing inside of Raava, meaning that Vaatu is in the Avatar spirit with Raava. This could mean that if Korra is in the Avatar state for too long, she could unknowingly unleash the Dark Avatar state. Maybe Korra could regain her connection with previous avatars from Raava regaining her power as well as Vaatu. Possibly, a villain, that's one of the alt avatars that I mentioned would decide to take advantage of all of this and try to get Korra into the Dark Avatar state and give Vaatu complete control over the Avatar. In this arc, Korra's team, as well as the Lotus Warriors now have to fight Dark Korra and try to get Raava back in control. Dark Korra could also form into previous avatars led by their own corruption and demons they faced in their lives. Somehow, Raava gets powerful enough(I don't know how, maybe with the help of other spirits) Converge back with Korra, but only half way, and the Avatar splits into two, and an epic showdown between Raava's Korra and Vaatu's Korra. The avatar that wins takes control of the avatar cycle. After Raava's Korra wins in the end, Korra and every avatar afterwards now not only has the burden of keeping balance in the world, but also balance within themselves to keep Vaatu at bay and not turn over to chaos.

    It would be cool if the avatar before the main character actually mastered all the main and side-elements,( like lightning, metal and so on.) but for the main character to go in to the avatar state, he would be to powerful and unable to control his powers. So in order to master the avatar state, he has to learn from his past life. Relive his previous life in order to understand how the avatar before him controlled the immense power. So most of the show would be him reliving his past lives and be in his head, while there is some major treat that he can only stop with his full power.

    Another idea, added to the evil avatar idea. What if something like Buffy happens to Korra. Korra dies but only for a few minutes, because medicine and water healing bring her back, but it was long enough to start the cycle and somehow a new avatar is born without anyone knowing because Korra is still alive. Korra could even lose her bending (or maybe can only bend two elements) because she died (it goes to the new avatar) so Korra spends time trying to cope and be a no-bending/ half avatar mean while the new avatar grows up unrecognized and jealous. And tries to destroy everything Korra has accomplished, so they could come out of nowhere and fix everything to get recognition.

    In my opinion Ravaa and Vatuu completely retconned the whole series. Strength gained from previous avatars? Nope Ravaa state all day long. The portals didn't keep the spirits out either. Early int he last airbender we learn that when the solstice approaches the barrier between both worlds gets thin and spirits can cross over quite easily. So the portals were never mentioned before, they don't work either and then there's the fact that Tui and La already had the Yin and Yang thing going as well. Before the introductions of the kite spirits the avatar was the spirit of the earth in human form and personally I find that a more intriguing concept. It means the avatar truly is the bridge, but can also actually become evil.

      @@quplet I agree. I like many ideas they had in korra and the characters by personality had a great potential.
      But they just wrecked the worldbuilding on so many levels...
      Sudden Americanisation of places and names
      Unreasonable technology at tge start of the series (they discovered and nationalised electricity in less than 70 years... Fire nation had everything powered by steam only and lightning is very different from every day electricity)
      Extra technology including mecha tanks and lasers
      Everyone knew advanced techniques all of a sudden
      Spirits are messed up, look different, behave different and there is just too much mess
      Heck..
      Raava and Vaatu have nothing with Ying and Yang apart from visuals. The concept of Ying and Yang doesn't even have objective good and evil.
      If one of them can be locked and the world becomes better... It is far from Ying and Yang.

      @@tomasvrabec1845 Something I feel a lot of people forget is that the revolution of flight happened less than 60 years before man touched down on the moon. I agree with quite a few of your other statements, but thinking that its not possible to electrify one of the richest cities (not the whole nation yet) in less than 70 years is false. You have literal human batteries in the form of lightning benders, and we see Mako working at a plant, that can output enough energy to cause something similar to a lightning strike. That's a *whole* lot of electricity. Metal bending is also similar in that, once it was found, would likely spread.
      The meka's and lasers were stupid, but I still feel like some of the techniques would have spread a little from people teaching it them with less of the war getting in the way.

    My Idea goes like this: the story takes place thousands of years after the 100 year war. The last avatar didn't care much about the other nations and thus the wars he/she fought turned the world into a wasteland, returning the technology to a age similar to Aangs time. Because almost all methods to locate the next avatar have been destroyed the remains of the White Lotus dicide to combine their Powers to create an 'artificial' avatar to save the world. They teach this avatar the Art of bending and the morals of the different nations. But eventualy this avatar realises what it is and turns rogue. At this point the real avatar has been found and has started his training. This leads to a few confrontations between the two avatars and I really don't know what kind of series this would be. But I think it would be pretty interesting.

    The third idea of the avatar living in the spirit world is actually really interesting. It could go that the world has progressed to a point technologically and socially where the avatar is practically useless and has been for hundreds of years, and is only nominally a symbol of balance with all matters of diplomacy being handled by governments, and a tech-savvy public who at best are apathetic towards the avatar, at worst they are openly hostile towards the "relic". After years of living wearily like this, with bending being a dying form due to technological prowess, the avatar finds an isolated place where they proceed to settle down at and enter the spirit world. I'm envisioning the avatar as at least 30, and fully realized in all bending and that this focuses more on the role of the avatar and the toll it has on the person rather than the journey to being the avatar.
    It could be a very good way to explore issues like spirituality in the modern age, nature vs man and how people find new meaning. It sounds interesting to me, at least.

He justifies the action to his previous life as saying that the world has been peaceful without his presence. You could have a narrative of the Avatar falling into selfish, hedonistic, or misguided choices as he lived in an era of great peace without any work from himself. We could have a sort of Roku+Kuruk story where an Avatar comes of age during a century of peace, unprepared and apathetic of a coming major war or major threat.

    I would love to see the next avatar (earth, due to the cycle) as a 'evil'. Maybe the avatar was raised by metalbenders who agreed with Kuvera, and that could be a motivation. With that a platinum bending avatar should be interesting. It must be chi-blocked since the avatar is (in that moment in time) the only person on earth who can bend it, therefore there is no other way to stop the avatar than with chi-blocking.
    Also, this may be a stretch, but i would like to see (as the one after that) a COMBUSTION bending avatar! Just imagine when entering the avatar-state, and seeing three eyes light up! Also with the previous avatar being evil, that should give birth to a great side-plot that this avatar is struggling to communicate with past avatars, because the fear of encountering the last evil avatar. Next to that, that could give us more about combustion bending, like techniques and how to master it. It could also be that due to the combustion bending that people will fear the avatar. I would say that the Combustion bending avatar could be a great and powerful avatar, that is not afraid to show what side he/she is on, and is prepaired to fight anyone fiercely till the end.
    Also imagine the avatar combining combustion bending with other bendings.

      This is my personnal point of view (as the actual avatar in my world). Not about the benevolence, but because my world is ravaged by corruption and propaganda, i have to destroy factories and chemical weapons when they poisonned air earth and water and obviously i'm showed to the population as a dangerous terrorist, me and my allies. Aang always been a pacifist because he was a traumatised kid living in an era which was not his (and in war/genocide context), but it means not he was the better avatar ever, or that his way was the only way acceptable. And it's not about air nomads philosophy, even Yangchen was more realistic than him, and so I am.
      The enemies of mine who hates/fear me call me Firestorm, it's good my reputation precedes me, they think 2 times before doing stupid things. I am the incarnation of the balance of the Earth, i know Raava is specifically about the "good side" (life and love, i suppose) but i use the good side as a light sword, i'm not the moral incarnation of ideals of pacifism. I dont have to be.

      Lev Protter I honestly agree. The first series has that perfect mix of technology and nature. The world was untapped, wild, and almost nothing was industrial. I would love for the third series to be in a world that's filled with futuristic magiteck because of all the spirit energy around. It would bring up an interesting discussion of a society that doesn't think of bending as important anymore now that they can create energy through other means. It can also be a discussion of traditions vs new systems.

Could you imagine the scandal it would cause if the public found out thelat they murdered the avatar to gain a new person who would follow orders better? I think another member would just tell the others to leave the new avatar alone and that this would be a personal journey that the avatar needed to go on to mature and find what they are looking for.

    You know, `i've always liked the idea of an avatar struggling to find purpose despite him being the one that would bring piece to the world. Like, with your idea with the white lotus basically being on top of their shit, and the world is in piece, but he travels around being a klutzy mess because he basically can't do anything right and is kind of a pitiful loser, and the entire series is him trying to be good enough. The next one is a male earth bender so they'd have to be someone who is severely off balance and unable to... well be strong. Perhaps having some sort of overpowered mentor of some sort that travels with him and continually makes him feel inadequate or something.
    Oh oh and plot twist he can't bend like at all. For at least the beginning or so

      Fabulous Farida the cycle repeat the same gender with the Fire and air following behind it, but the first guy is right, the last earth kingdom born avatar was Kyoshi so the next one is should be a male just like the last water born avatar before Korra was a male named Avatar Kuruk, the only confusing part is that the fire nation born avatar doesn't go make female male female but male male female female, this is proven by the avatar cycle and how we have Roki and the Fire nation nameless avatar before him, fans nicknamed him avatar Jafar. So ever avatar cycle starting with Fire (because of avatar wan) and ending with earth will have 3 make and 1 female then the next one is opposite where we have 3 females and a male.

  • @matthewnelson9702
    @matthewnelson9702 6 років тому +137

    For the evil avatar, I'd been playing with a similar idea, but it was a little dark. Following along with how Sozin let Roku die (basically killing him) and then hunted the young avatar (aang), what if someone had managed it. So an avatar is betrayed because the nations want to control their own destiny. After the avatar is killed, they perform the normal tests for the avatar and kill the child once found. So the avatar moves to the next nation. Being killed again and again (that's the dark bit), the avatar gets tainted/corrupted till they essentially just get reborn wanting revenge.
    So either the nations cooperate on the avatar elimination, or there's just a really effective cult running around killing the young avatars, but after a century it becomes apparent they are no longer finding the child. One of the nations along the way couldn't find the avatar, but to save face said they had. So did the next, and next, and basically we don't even know which nation they should be born into by the time it's revealed.
    So the story would be part searching for the avatar, part fighting against the corrupt avatar, ultimately calming them and returning them to their original path. It would take place before 'Last Airbender' and could work in the founding of things like the Fire Sages, and the White Lotus. Organizations devoted to the avatar, and balance of the world.

    Here is what i’d like to see:
    Imagine this, somewhere in the future, in a peaceful era, two Avatars are born. This is something that has never happened before. They are twins. One of them is a boy and the other one is a girl. They are both the protagonists of the story.
    They get taught all the various kinds of bending techniques from an early age, but sadly, the girl seems to be far more gifted. She masters every move almost immediately, while her brother must practice very hard to keep up with her. While she spends her time playing with her friends who admire her, her brother trains day and night, getting more and more jealous of his sister. Over the years, this childish jealousy turns into hate and the brother ends up despising his sister. He still trains hard, but since he always gets compared to her, he decides to leave the town for good, so he can train on his own, far, far away from the others. He wants to get better than her, so he can show everybody that she isn’t as perfect as they make her seem to be.
    While he trains hard even harder than before, she gets way too confident, thinking she is already perfect at bending and neglects training, so when her brother finally comes back, she is totally unprepared for his new strength.
    In the time he trained alone, he has gotten far more powerful than any other avatar has ever been, and he enjoys being better then everyone. Driven by his hate for the people who had mocked him, he takes revenge and starts destroying the cities and towns that are in his way. His sister then realizes that she was one of the main reasons why her brother turned out to be a monster like this and takes matters into her own two hands. She now too tries to get better and better, so she can stop him, who has already thrown almost the whole kingdom into misery. She feels guilty for everything she has done to him and after all those years, tries to repair her brothers broken heart
    Sorry if my English isn't perfect. I'm 17 and English isn't my native language ;)
    Edit: I just read the other comments and thought: Damn the twin idea isn't aaaaas original as i thought... QwQ well... u hope i'm at leat one of the few that had THIS exact idea for them...

      Why not have the brother be much stronger spiritually, going out into the wild to train, for the reasons you say, but instead he finds peace and becomes what an avatar is supposed to be. While the sisters powers and popularity is going to her head and she becomes arrogant, self centered, she neglects her training (but she stays the best in her surrounding). When the brother comes back basically as strong as her and in touch with the spirit realm (the only thing she isn't really good at), the attention shifts from her to her brother and she is the one to become stricken with jealousy of her brother.
      oh, and maybe by this time bending is used more as a sport and for prestige, less because it's usefull. The avatar is like the ultimate rockstar/athlete or something. More seen as symbolic than usefull. Untill the relation between the spirits and humans start to sour. Maybe even causing the sister to side with the humans and try to move them to war against the spirits, the brother trapped between the spirits and the humans.

      Amon was also an interesting villain in the worldbuilding sense. After every thing went to shit over and over again in season 2-4 because of benders, some normal people would have to be disgruntled. The equalists wouldn't come basically out of nowhere, they would have the support of many or atleast more people and they could have provided the show with an interesting and actually legit question; should bending be a thing? As it is, Amon is a nice, but basically throwaway antagonist.

  • @valcai3717
    @valcai3717 7 років тому +75

    If the avatar is the antagonist, shouldn't they become evil because they realize that life has no meaning. Idea: The next Avatar is naturally adept at the alternative methods of bending (Metal/Lava, Blood, Lightning, and Levitation) but is near incapable of utilizing the 4 primary elements. They would also be an earthbender in the cycle so they potentially could have an issue with the insane politicking that goes on in the earth kingdom.

    • @ladyalmaixztelliatheslayer2390

    • @johnsonpious3576
      @johnsonpious3576 6 років тому +7

      Well, they aren't alternative, they are advanced techniques. Still very much based on basic bending. So a blood bender would still be an expert water bender. Levitators would be master airbenders, lightning benders would be expert fire benders. Metal benders would still be very capable earth benders.

    • @jellelliott
      @jellelliott 6 років тому +12

      I called them the 'extreme' forms of bending, which would kind of be weird if they have the extreme version of the elements but not the normal control. Metal needs an earthbender who can bend fine pieces of earth, so they'd have to be good at earthbending already. Blood bending already normally requires a full moon to manipulate water inside someone else, requiring proficient water bending skills. Lightning was described as an advanced firebending technique that required separating chi. Levitation requires a huge understanding of the works of airbending and their practices.
      I love the ideas, it just doesn't make sense that they'd be nearly incapable of the normal bending aspects. Most bending stories are "I *discovered* my bending when..." which implies that they did a mundane bending of the element before the alternative methods.
      However, I REALLY want to see an avatar that does MASTER the alternative modes of bending to the point of perfection. It would kind of fit your idea while still making sense in terms of learning the elements.

      Lady Almaixztellia : Funny. I have a story like that (but actually the contrary). My previous incarnation died murdred at age of 6, before she bend her own element (fire), so she was supposed to be the fire avatar but died before. It was a perturbation in the cycle of the Avatar. Then, I, Lhamo, was born as a angry and terrified baby howling fire, although i'm totally an air nation kid. My parents had been scared to death that day ahah
      I have indeed a traumatism in my karma, like haunted by memories of this girl (Dhenza) when i meditate (but i dont see her like i see my predecessors Korra and Fu Jin, because she never entered in avatar state), but i've grown up bending fire as well than air. Like a "two soul" avatar. And very hot-tempered and impulsive for a air nation kid...

    Man! This Avatar lived for a long period of time, in the middle of, in my opinion, the most heated war known so far, full-on soldier and made her own country-island away from the rest of the Earth Kingdom.
    The stories write themselves with Avatar Kyoshi.
    Maybe the kingdom was one big Empire at some point, maybe Kyoshi was born in the middle of a civil war. Maybe her parents were killed when she was young and that inspired her to put an end to the war, maybe she lived for so long because she found how to stop aging. Maybe her loved one had a foot fetish and that's why they were perfect for each other. Maybe she went on war with the Water Tribe for not allow women to water bend and it didn't go so well.
    I could keep going but I think I made my case here. Kyoshi needs her own series (or maybe her own movie).

    I think there are two main very interesting concepts that would be amazing to present: like you said - evil avatar and avatar totally rejecting his destiny. And we "miss" two elements when it comes to shows. So one avatar, earth one, could be evil (which would be super interesting considering that everyone would expect fire avatar to be evil), and next fire avatar would reject his destiny. And they would close the series for good, having all the elements done and all cool concepts explored. It would end up with some interesting conclusion of the "reject avatar" maybe accepting his role or giving an interesting change or moral for the whole story (or maybe even ending the cicle...). Also, I would maybe possibly opt for the evil avatar to stay this way to the end, and maybe possibly they're killed by the protagonist. And the fire avatar had to deal with yet another problem to be better than the previous avatar, and that's why he doesn't give a shit and runs away.

    Personally I think there was definitely an evil Avatar at some point and it might be why the training of the Avatar is such an important thing and sages of all four nations are involved. They say absolute power corrupts absolutely and with the amount of power the Avatar has and the amount of Avatars there have been, there's simply no way that a couple of them haven't been assholes

    Thanks to this video inspiring me I recently came up with another idea: the self-taught bending-inspired swordsman.
    We've seen weapons incorporated into bending styles ( Zuko alone and Aang using a staff or fans) and benders using moves from other bending types. So what about someone who learned sword fighting (or maybe some other weapon) by studying and mimicking different bending styles?
    Imagine someone who incorporates the movements, stances, and principles of bending masters into their own weapon style. The quick flow between offence and defence from Water Bending. The rooted stance and strong blows of an Earth Bender. A Fire bender's quick and powerful strikes (and leg-sweeps. Do not forget those awesome leg-sweeps). And the agility and light footedness of an Airbender.
    Also, he could switch movement styles in rapid succession during a fight, keeping his enemies always guessing.
    I just love seeing badass non-benders.

      To be fair, all the bending styles are based off real martial arts styles I believe.

    I think it'd be cool if we had a storyline or ark focusing on blood bending, and how it could be a positive. Think about it, how many problems do humans suffer from due to blood circulation issues? For example, a blood bender could save the life of someone having a deep vein thrombosis (a blood clot forming in a vein limiting circulation) on the spot. Or help someone with bad blood pressure either by getting one or regular therepy sessions. It would make a good story point I think

      I think you are onto something. But why not take it further? What if chi, which is what gives benders their power, flows along the blood stream? Alter the blood stream, alter the chi flow. Maybe some powerful waterbender would be able to figure out a way to use bloodbending to change their chi flow, and therefore allow them to bend other elements. This would change the whole entire world. If this information got out, the position of the avatar could be considered obsolete, and would lose power. Would this new power be considered dangerous? Would if cause the world to go out of balance? What would the avatar do in response to this? Or would it change the world for the better? Idk I haven't really thought this far.

    You mention the world building, but none of your ideas really touch on the way the world might actually operate 80+ years after LOK. Like, you mention the White Lotus being on top of their shit and the Earth Kingdom being at peace, but I really think there's a lot to explore here more than just bending and spirits. There could be a really complicated geopolitical situation the Avatar has to deal with. I recall at the very end of LOK, after Kuvira was defeated and Wu decided to cede his throne, that many of the provinces in the Earth Kingdom were operating quasi-independently from one another. What if, in the time of this third show, the Earth Kingdom is complete history, and several smaller nations and a few larger, more powerful nations all making up the Earth Kingdom, all with various forms of governments from democracies to oligarchies to dictatorships? What if similar processes have happened or are starting to happen in the Fire Nation, the Water Tribes, or even the Air Nation? This could lead to interesting conflicts about nationalism vs. shared cultural heritage. Like, the next Avatar is supposed to be Earth Kingdom based, yeah? So what if it becomes a point of national pride for the one Earth region nation that the Avatar is from. Not to mention all of the other complex relations of trade, communication, and alliances that could exist between these dozens of nation-states. This could potentially be a geopolitical situation similar to that of Europe in 1914. What if these nations are all on the brink of a global war?
    Another interesting idea is that even though the Avatar world might be politically similar to our world in 1914, the technology would be far beyond it. We already saw at the end of LOK that they were working with energy weapons and high speed rail and even went a little absurd with a giant mech. So imagine how the technology could advance in another 80+ years? They probably have instant global communication like we have today. Imagine the Avatar with a smartphone or a headset. Imagine several nations with well developed space programs. The possibilities on this front are endless! I really would like to see a high-tech version of the Avatar world, and how that effects human/spirit relations as well as international and bender/non-bender relations. What kind of role does the Avatar have in this world?

    Here's an Idea for a combination of all of those Ideas.
    This would be about the avatar right after Korra.
    The avatar is very naturally gifted at fighting (the non-bending kind) and is also very smart. They start of really excited to be the avatar, and throw themselves into training, and they become a very skilled diplomat and bender. However, the white lotus has become super controlling and won't even let the avatar leave their headquarters. The avatar is isolated, lonely, and depressed, so he goes to the spirit world, where he meets a lot of spirits, most importantly uncle Iroh. Iroh teaches him about the world and eventually convinces him to go back to the real world, where he escapes, and runs away. He's picked up by an assassin, and trained by him (learning how to chi block in the process) all while hiding his identity as the avatar. Years later members of the white lotus start disappearing. The avatar picks them off one by one. Once they're all dead, they finally reveal themselves to the world.
    However, the story starts off being told through the perspective of another secret of the white lotus, a blood bending prodigy, who they force to do all of their dirty work. After a while, they would be sent after the avatar. They eventually meet (probably around halfway through season 1) and the blood bender realizes that this person is the avatar. They saw the avatar on the night they escaped, which is how they recognize the avatar. Knowing that this person was also a captive of the white lotus, they become conflicted, and procrastinate capturing the avatar. This is also when we start having episodes from the avatar's perspective. Season 1 ends with the blood bender joining the avatar, and killing most of the white lotus. Season 2 is part finding the rest of the white lotus, and part learning how to function as a normal person (I like to think that Iroh taught the avatar how to make tea). This season would be where we get most of the avatars backstory. The season would end with their reveal to the world. The final season would be about the avatar learning to fulfill their role as the avatar. The season would also be about how the two are very close and people would begin to assume that they're together (they're not), and there would be a lot of romance troupes. One of the big moments would be them finally realizing that they think of themselves as siblings. They would start realizing that there are a lot of people who are in similar situations for whatever reasons, and the season finale would be them opening an academy for people who need to escape situations where they are trapped.

      What if our non-bending protagonist has a unique ability? They can negate bending. However, they can't control this ability. Anybody within their proximity have their powers negated (at least, as long as they are in the protagonist's presence.) It's a bit like Leech in X Men. As a result, they are isolated growing up because bender kids didn't want to play with someone who took away their powers. So they go on a journey on self-discovery and inner strength.

    I absolutely love the idea of the avatar just peace-ing out to the spirit world all like 'bye, falicia'
    I can see it as being very slice of life and with a lot less emphasis on action and big fight scenes. There could be emotional moments like finding out a dear friend or relative passed away while they were out to the spirit world. This could lead to thoughts of 'the last time I saw them, I was watching down as the figure head avatar' or 'if I didn't run away here, I could have said goodbye' and so on. There could be moments where the white lotas find a way to get someone in there to try to drag him back, not in a 'hey mate, we miss you. Come back' but in a 'whether you like it or not, we are dragging you back out of here so you can do your freaking job'
    You can have an arc where the avatar was actually forced back and has to find a way to get to the spirit world once more, which oh yeah that's easy but wait they found a way to prevent them from doing so.
    There could be a few episodes focusing on the friend who comes in where the avatar attempts to convince them to STAY in the spirit world.
    There could be episodes where some older spirits attempt to get the avatar out of the spirit world since the bridge kind of closed itself off.
    There could be an arc (later in the series after the avatar has started to warm up to the idea of being the avatar after hearing how badass the previous avatars were) where something really freaking terrible is happening in the real world and the avatar goes 'shit! Okay so I need to go back to help out an-' before going 'well I was only a figure head and they don't actually need me, not like I would be able to help at all' which can lead to a sort of existential crisis as the avatar realizes just how extremely mundane their existence as avatar is compared to the stories they have heard from the spirits. They could be watching the real world deal with what they thought was a terrible issue fairly easily which can further make them hate their role as the avatar.

  • @justanawkwardnerd

    Love these ideas! I'd also love to explore the idea of the villain!Avatar not really knowing they are the Avatar, and how they feel about that - do they get angrier? Do they have an identity crisis? Do they just not care? Etc., and everyone else dealing with that, too, is interesting. I also love the idea of the Avatar who truly doesn't want to be the Avatar, especially because of the White Lotus and that they don't end up learning bending. I'd like to add the element of people on the human side with a spirit/animal sensitivity - those who have a strong bond with the Spirit world or it's animal parallels like Toph and Yue - ending up inadvertently helping the Avatar while they're there, and befriending them, even beyond the plains. I absolutely think that the Spirit World deserves more emphasis. The Avatar truly trying to live their life would be absolutely fascinating, too - because what made the Avatar so important is that they are Spirit Realm's Jesus - they live, feel, and act like humans, and it is what made them such a unique and vital aspect of _both_ the human and spirit world. The challenging of their humanity was always a point of contention - it's what made Aang run away, and Korra confused. They were denied the right to live according to their personal identity because the world wanted to focus on them as an unfeeling symbol and figurehead instead. It makes perfect sense that an Avatar would truly try to get rid themselves of the Avatar identity because of it.
    I love both Bloodbending ideas - the former calls for innovation, creating realistic issues in the reality of bending, as wells as explores ethics. It's far easier to apply this to bloodbending, but I think the former 2 can still work for other bending - maybe someone has issue earthbending soil compared to dry dirt, firebending is outlawed due to safety concerns, an another universe, they have to start airbending from scratch, etc.
    The latter is a great premise and idea, I love it.

    I want to see AIR-BENDING NINJAS!!!! The airbenders were by far the least developed tribe in the series, in terms of their revealed abilities (and for good reason; there weren't any besides Aang up them until the end of the Legend of Korra).
    Zaheer eventually being able to levitate and bend the air out of peoples' lungs was cool and all, but honestly pretty predictable. Now that there are Airbenders in the Avatar Universe again, there are SO many more creative things airbenders could do. Every other element had some other variation of their bending (Metalbending, Sand-bending, Blood-bending, Lightning-bending, Combustion, Water and Fire Healing powers, Plant-Bending, Steam and Ice-bending, etc.) (especially water benders) but airbending....none really.
    Think of all the things you could hypothetically do with air - the only element that you can NEVER ESCAPE.
    1) Soundbending - you could potentially send covert, long-distance messages by controlling sound waves, whisper in someone's ear from hundreds of feet away, making them think they're going insane, or you could amplify soundwaves to the point of making enemies' ears bleed.
    2) Explosive airbursts. Enough said.
    3) You could create air vaccuums around enemies to not only suffocate them but basically make their insides explode (if they were ever willing to go that dark). That technique could also be used to cancel out an Firebender's attacks.
    4) High-Speed Air Darts. Give an air-bender a small, object - a marble, a pencil, a pebble - and a straw. Boom! You have yourself a covert miniature air cannon.
    5) Temperature. Every other group could control their element's temperature to some extent (especially the freaking over-powered waterbenders). So why shouldn't airbenders be capable of freezing or baking entire battlefields of soldiers to death...or near-death since, ya know, Nickelodeon.
    6) Hypothetically, since certain water and firebenders (two elements traditionally related to the PHYSICAL functions of the body) have physical healing powers, it only seems right that certain air and earthbenders (two elements that promote peacefulness and groundedness) should have at least temporary MENTAL healing powers for people experiencing insanity, panic, or stress (or the opposite; be able to CAUSE insanity, panic, or stress MWAHAHAHA)
    Not to mention that airbenders are just naturally light on their feet and super quiet. If a group of airbenders ever went truly evil, they could have had a group of elite fighters even more badass and inescapable than Zaheer, the Dai Li, or maybbe anybody on the show. But NNOOO! They had to just leave it at good enough with Zaheer (who was really only on the show briefly, not to mention that I didn't really grow to care about ANY of the characters on LOK because it was trash.).
    Just, SOMEONE, please bring back this show with some evil Airbending ninjas, maybe a well-developed badass non-bending chi-blocker....SOMETHING!

      I like this idea. We have seen a bad Fire Nation, a bad Earth Kingdom, and a bad Water Tribe. So I would understand the "rogue" airbenders. They should be able to levitate like Zaheer and they would escape their respective temples during the night to go up above the clouds and train with these "forbidden techniques" that you talked about.
      Also it would be interesting if Airbenders got a lot of really bad publicity. The temples would probably go under investigation. It would be interesting to see this concept, especially if they had a different style of tattoos and a cool group name and were basically mercenaries.

    Something that I've always thought about is basically, "What if a rich family found the avatar before the rest of the world, basically sheltered him, and then had their own child as well as his/her friends act in as the avatar?" Basically, no one would be able to tell if a few benders hid and made it look like the fake avatar was controlling all the elements. This could make the fake avatar as the protagonist while the real avatar was locked up by the family. The real avatar could possibly escape after many attempts and take vengeance a bit too far, making him the antagonist. Or maybe the fake avatar is a villain who's as bad as his/her parents and the real avatar goes into the spirit world for help while chi blockers constantly disable the avatar in the real one. There's also potential for emotional drama with the fake avatar not wanting to disappoint his parents, but also not wanting to lie about being the avatar. Maybe someone from the team of fakers decides to run away from it and people start wondering why the avatar is only using 3 elements instead of all 4. Okay, completely different idea: What if somehow the spirit was split into two people, most likely twins? Say, one could control earth and fire while the other could control water and air. That has potential too. Or maybe one can control 3 elements while the other can interact with the spirit world, but only use one. Oh, what if someone fused with a spirit and begins to be able to use 2 elements? Well, that's all the ideas I have at the moment, bit all over the place, but I do want to see more of that world. Elaborate on any of these ideas if you want to, or tell me how bad they are. Any constructive criticism will be taken, etc.

      I'd like to see an evil avatar. The fake avatar can be the protagonist and fool everyone into being the avatar, while his family hides the real avatar for themselves. The fake avatar would be the "good" guy since he would be forced by his family to fake all 4 elements, while his family trains the real avatar to eventually take over the world or something.
      I just NEED to see an evil avatar for once.

    • @MrE_
      @MrE_ 6 років тому +4

      Or the twin idea. One twin bends all 4 elements, but is evil. The other twin can go into the spirit world, but does not bend elements and is good.
      We can see 1 season of their relationship as brothers and then the next season of their split ideals, then a battle between themselves for power (maybe they happen to be the next in line for the earth kingdom).

    Imagine twin Avatars, one born with Vaatu and one with Raava. But the main character is the dark avatar and the light avatar is brainwashed and taken away and becomes the antagonist. The story is like Injustice/Assassin's Creed and the Templars where the light avatar is bad but kind of right and the dark avatar likes freedom but no control.

    • @Slash8Flash
      @Slash8Flash 6 років тому +1

      And the Dark avatar wouldn't know he is also the avatar until the climax of end of season. So he focuses on chi blocking and weapon combat. And also the dark avatar wouldn't bend the elements, he would bend something like the Korra end season finale where it's black/void thing

    With the spirit one, Maybe double down on what Aang could do. Go full spirit bender. Like blood bending but with peoples spirits.

    I've always thought of creating an avatar catered towards the people who originally started watching the series. I'm 22. So I'd say people who are anywhere from 13-25ish. Maybe add actual death scenes and stuff along those lines.

      Legend of Korra basically did that. It's more mature than the original series because the people who grew up with it (who were about 8-12 in 05 when the original series began airing) had grown up to be young adults by that time. That's also why Korra is older than Aang - the writers wanted a character who would identify with the viewers as they had grown up. To continue that, you'd have to have a young adult Avatar protagonist, but you shouldn't go too into the "adult" area, or the show in my opinion begins to lose some consistency.

    One idea I had was the next cycle having two avatars as both rava and vatu are reborn into twins. Also since vatu isn't really evil but darkness this new version won't be evil since they are reborn with a new outlook. Instead light avatar would be more empathetic while dark avatar is more run by logic and reason
    Yeah I know this is not original can think of several things with similar premises

    • @Lukong15
      @Lukong15 6 років тому +4

      the dark avatar sounds more original than an evil dark bender...but if he/she is dark then they should also have a dark/void/blackhole bending style...check my comment for detail.

    • @Lukong15
      @Lukong15 6 років тому +7

      It's a ying and yang thing...someone else's comment talked about twins too and I said it would be cool if they flowed around each other and did back/flips off each other using a Gentle (Dark) & Aggressive (Light) style of bending.
      Your idea does remind me of Solarboy 3 on GBA where the Lunar Boy is a Older/wiser & Experienced than Solar Boy who the Player plays as

      An add on to this idea was just 2 main plot points that would be so insanely epic...
      - Avatar duel 'agni kai'
      - Avatar team up and beat the shit out of a main villain (basically Aang vs Ozai but 2 avatars)

    I recently had a very dark and graphic avatar idea of the avatar taking blood bending a step further and actually ripping the blood out of an antagonist, every last drop, and using his blood to fight his minions.

    Four homeless friends (two men two women), one for each element, use their gifts for entertainment, such as parkour and street performances. One day they decide that they want to get better at bending, but they don't want to be separated, so they go on a search for the Avatar.
    ++++
    It brings the journey aspect of Avatar that was in the first series back and it doesn't make the Avatar the main focus while making the avatar the main focus.

    A possible change in the backstory for your villain Avatar: If the Order of the White Lotus doesn't know who the Avatar is, then there's a good chance that nobody knows who it is. With this initial uncertainty, faith in the idea of the Avatar and the balance they help establish on the earth is shaken. This will split the populace into three groups: the extreme that believes the Avatar must be found, the extreme that believe that the world no longer needs an Avatar, and the poor bastards caught in the middle. Both extremes begin to organize search parties looking for the Avatar, traveling in large numbers for safety, scouring the countryside looking for their target. Civil unrest becomes significantly worse as both sides of the conflict begin to exploit the people in their efforts to find the Avatar, possibly leading to famine. Our main character could be a part of either faction, believing that the Avatar must be found either to restore balance or to step aside and allow humanity, the earth, and the spirit world to move on. Still not too sure on the motivation of the Avatar themselves. Hell, maybe don't even use them and just use the backdrop of the Avatar universe as a set to build story on.

      Obviously the avatar is in the "World doesn't need an avatar" group, but doesn't realize it until they get in a fight they loose with another type of bender. Like if the avatar is an earthbender who is struggling to learn properly and they fight a fire bender and defend themselves with firebending...or water...whatever. Then they have to put on a show of finding themself while they figure out who they are and what that means (finding themself while finding themself! HA). Then they have to decide to tell their group, and if they are beloved then will the group kill them, or just hide the avatar away? So many questions!

    An "evil" avatar would be pretty cool, because the Avatar could just go in to the Avatar state and none of the protagonists would want to hurt him/her as to not stop the cycle. So they could only get the avatar when he/she is not in that state.

    An Avatar that experiences firsthand the suffering of the powerless, as one who for a long time, never even knew what he was capable of. Think of a world that has been unable to find stable ground between non-benders and benders. Conflict is at an all-time high, to the point that Amon's movement looks like a joke. Except this movement isn't centered around one man's ambitions... but pure hatred of the world and what has become of it.
    This Avatar was born among normal people, with a normal family. Nothing was ever expected of them, and thus they were just an average (or perhaps below average?) kid. But life is cruel, and so are people at times. The Avatar would go through hardship after hardship, losing family, friends, their home, their identity, everything. Eventually, this person would snap. The emotional triggering of the Avatar state would be the moment of change for the world... for better or worse. Fueled through loss, driven by pain, and enticed by this anti-bender conflict, this Avatar would challenge the world that his predecessors had painstakingly created. Yet what they wanted wasn't "peace", nor "equality", nor "happiness"... they didn't care about who they were or what it meant to be the Avatar... there wasn't nothing left to care about at all. So the Avatar would back the anti-benders, eventually becoming their new leader.
    The main protagonist would also suffer like the Avatar, but their hardships would only lead them down the path that you described, searching for the only one that can establish balance once more... but the Avatar cannot be found. Thus, they connect with the spirit world to find them. [stuff happens, filler and shiz], eventually the Avatar is found, but they aren't quite what the protagonist expected. The two argue for a long time, until the Avatar, feeling cornered (admitting that they are in the wrong), kicks the protagonist's ass to an inch of their life.
    Bring in learning chi-blocking, cue badass fights, cue friendship solves everything, etc. Maybe the Avatar dies, and the protagonist has to stop the war on their own without the ultimate peacemaker on their side (either failing or not)... or maybe they finally decide that the world is worth saving, reconnects with their past lives, and then SAVES the world! Or option three, the Avatar is captured and shown to the world, revealing to all what has become of their last hope. Now knowing what they have done to their symbol of peace, the war suddenly screeches to a halt, with both sides questioning how this all happened in the first place. After that... well, I don't know.
    Anyway... awesome ideas, man! Sorry for writing so much, I just kinda got excited about a possible third Avatar: The Last Airbender series.

    I dislike where LOK left the world of avatar. The spirit world was reduced to just a source of a new evil army, and technology had advanced to the point where it had arguably surpassed bending. I would like to see the next show set before ATLA. a show hat chronicles the creation of the four nations that we see in ATLA would be really cool.

    I had an idea that would basically combine your 1st and 3rd one. With the avatar feeling not be needed anymore, gets shipped around like a trophy by the white lotus, and (to in a way tie back to korra) finds a manifest of zaheer in a forbidden room at WL HQ, learns more about korras enemies and avatar history, comes to belive the avatar is the true villain in this world becouse he is basically a walking talking nuke who could do everything if he/she wanted and paints himself to be evil so everybody hates him, so that in the end people would call for the end of the avatar, so in the end he can arrange to be distroyed and make a world that doesn't depend on him. So the main protagonists first set out to hunt him, but after lerning of his plans try to save him, and convince him he is needed. Maybe he could slowly get all his former lives back, and discover that the avatar is good, because let's be honest, to only have korra to learn from can give you easily the wrong picture.
