Jeez I always forget how dark the exile arc was. I read exile arc fanfics all the time, and they’re crazy dark, but I always forget that they’re not that much of a stretch from what actually happened

Every little detail, every little sound effect, It all just gives this so much emotion. The expressions, the reactions, these always feel like you're watching an actual movie, and It feels real, as short as it is at times.

Absolutely fantastic as always, expressions, emotion, tension, all on point. However, I need to highlight one scene in particular or I'll lose my mind.
"If they don't matter, if you have no attachment to things, if nothing matters, then why does any of this matter?" The quote is already so painful on its own, but you adding the visuals of Tommy and Tubbo together, not just with the discs, but through the rough moments, makes it so much better. It can so easily sound like Tommy is talking about the discs then, but when Tubbo says "they don't matter", it cuts deeper. Tubbo was Tommy's biggest supporter to get them back, and the events over them have brought them closer and closer together. By Tubbo saying "it doesn't matter", and Tommy responding with "why does any of it matter", it's Tommy wondering if Tubbo doesn't see how much time they've been together, and how it was always just them fighting for them. Tommy values Tubbo over the discs any day (after all, it was never just about the discs, but about the emotional price Dream set on regular pieces of plastic), and always saw it as the two of them working together. But if that doesn't matter, then do the interactions they had matter? Does the time Tommy spent with Tubbo matter to *Tubbo?* Just. Amazing.

"-, if you have no attachment to things,-" *Dream appears behind Tubbo*. Is that a reference to the fact Dream cut off/got rid of all emotional attachments he had, whether it be to people or things? Haven't seen people talk about it.
I thought it was a reference to how Dream will find a way to control them if they allow themselves to be attached to people and things. After all, the only person on the server who Dream has no real control over is Technoblade, because Technoblade is only attached to his ideals(and his pets but we don't talk about that)
This is the kind of movie-esque animation that brings you back to the days you first discovered Dream SMP content on UA-cam.
It's the sheer wonder of how great the storytelling on the server is - and how much better it can be when placed into the hands of the right, capable artist.
The animation really brings out the good, sometimes even insane voiceacting on the side of the content creators;
Tubbo's and Tommy's characters especially are given so much personality and the spotlight in this video that recaps the Exile Arc - and it does so perfectly, I must say.
From the beginning where Tubbo exiles Tommy for the sake of the nation, over the strong build-up during which Tommy's mental condition declines all the way to what is considered the climax of the arc: Dream destroying Logstedshire and Tommy throwing himself of his dirt tower to sink both in the water and the realization of Dream's manipulation... (Great imagery especially in this part, by the way - I love the juxtaposition between Tommy falling and sinking in the water and the frame of him flying up into the night sky with the trident in his hand, both shots with his expression invisible, but still contrasting his pain with his new-found confidence.)
And of course, it also shows the aftermath, the time where Tommy's and Techno's paths once again...
And the moment in which L'Manberg's future fate is revealed to Tommy.
The music accompanies this journey in a wonderful manner, going along and supporting the arc of suspense, bringing out emotion-
And of course, the voice clips are chosen amazingly well.
I love how you also include Ranboo's and Ghostbur's voicelines in here, both used in the "same section" as they are the tie that keep Tommy and Tubbo together, being true friends to them and looking out for both of them.
Another thing that catches my eye, especially after watching it multiple times are the symbolic details in this beautiful video, tying back to what is and what was: Tubbo having small horns that have just begun growing, referencing Schlatt and him wearing gloves to cover up the scars on his hands while Tommy's wearing a coat (Wilbur's?) with the L'Manbergian flag on it and gets more and more unkempt and dirty...
And, of course, the shift of their expressions and body language as time moves on, portraying sadness and regret.
Ghostbur's tattered clothes, Ranboo's look of fondness...
It all comes together so nicely!
(Also Quackity with small wings, hehe.)
One great detail (apart from the inclusion of the compasses which I find also really great) is the picture of Tommy and Tubbo, shot back when times were simple and they were just childhood friends joking around and getting in each other's nerves (one more than the other, it appears) which appears throughout the animation, standing in for their relationship.
At first, Tommy keeps it on his wall, missing Tubbo and holding on to their friendship;
Then he takes it off and considers throwing it, or at least, putting it away as he loses hope and the trust into their bond until finally, it rips and catches on fire in the destruction, signifying the break between them and also L'Manberg as Tommy joins Technoblade's side.
I could seriously go on and on about how great the composition and the art in this is - which by the way, is absolutely clean and gorgeous and great and amazing, like, I love the designs and how they look and how they move so much-
But I think you get what I'm saying.
Thank you for (re-)telling this incredible heart-felt story so epicly.

God this really captures how fucking dark and mind destroying exile was for Tommy. Tommy is literally such an amazing actor and makes me wonder if he's ever had acting lessons, he makes it so real and it's downright haunting! You did such amazing justice to every line with all the expressions and movements, all the symbolism and detail too is ASTOUNDING!
I have never seen someone depict what really happened in this arc so well, everyone normally is just like “oh Tommy is sad anyways” but this is fricken AMAZING! Kudos to you and your deserving art!
The whole exile thing was so sad, it caused many tears. How Tommy was treated and how he thought no one cared because of Dream. Seeing it in animation made it even more real. This video was amazing. The sound, the animation. Everything!
Rewatching the Exile Arc made me realize how many superb lines there were. I'm glad this includes some of the lesser known, but incredible, moments. :)
I love how at 1:57 Wilbur, as how Tommy last remembers him, appears, but it is actually Ghostbur

Ok this is AMAZING! Like seriously I really liked the framing and the background music to make it more emotional and the "It's not like they want you anyways Tommy" scene. Finally the finale was just... chef's kiss.I so wasn't expecting the scene with Technoblade but I'm not complaining at all and I believe it was the best scene that you could have chosen in order to end this.

I miss old dream smp so much. The L'manberg arc, The Pogtopia arc, The Exile arc, Doomday. They were all so amazing, and honestly, I feel like DreamSMP has slowed down massively when it comes to the story. While I understand the creators are busy and all, DSMP content just doesn't feel the same anymore :[
I loved this animation though! It really brought back the feeling of first watching content of the exile arc!

Holy heck, your art is such an inspiration for me, the emotions you are able to capture in the scenes expressions and body language, the camera angles that keeps the whole thing feeling fresh from start to finish, the backgrounds that are so detailed, everything. This is amazing!!!

Incredible freaking job, this really brings me back to the old days in exile when the DSMP was at its peak for lore and there were new amazing animations/animatics everyday.
That was such a relatable thing to me and I actually thankful for dsmp to even exist, this phase and idk.. I don’t remember how’s it called, I felt Tommy at these moments so much, even if this was acting.. I grew over all that shit that was happening with me with him and I love it

Genuinely one of my favorite dsmp animatics that I've seen in a long time- the way your art and the music choices just give a certain weight to things is insane.

i didn't get to experience any of this live. bit by bit, i've been piecing together the story, but there are times when an animatic drives something home for me that I'd missed in my internet archaeology. i knew that Tommy's exile had driven him to that night on the tower. and i knew that he hid from dream with techno. but i hadn't realized just how dearly Tommy's chat must have loved Techno for being the one to rescue him from that hell, the only one powerful enough to keep him safe from Dream and get away with it. bedrock bros...

omg this shtuff was awesome
this made me relive watching all of the exile streams. omg. this is amazing. the exile arc is my favorite because dream was such a great character (not great as in a good person but great as in very complex and manipulative, the perfect villain), and tommys character seeing the slow downfall of his mental being was insane that a 16 year old could capture that raw emotion. this animatic just took me back to almost a year ago, and the storytelling was beautifully constructed.
