I platinumed ff7 remake, intergrade and rebirth:))) definition hardest games ever and pushed skills to the limits:))) I felt extremely happy afterwards because it is way harder than the original ff7.

I finally beat all the challenges in the combat simulator. It really was absolutely brutal. I did platinum Bloodbourne and Elden Ring, so i couldnt believe that rebirth´s challenges would take so much effort. But yeah, you really have to understand all the game mechanics, materias and weakpoints from all the opponents. You have to approach them differently, wich is great. i only thought that "ruler of the outer worlds" was kinda bs, cause you really gotta be lucky with sephi in the end. But i think most of the other challenges are kinda fair, if you understand what you have to do, and what you need to avoid. Now i will tackle hard mode and get my trophy.

It's also one of the paradigms shifts for science fiction themed Japanese game. Many Japanese games used to take cue more to the fantastical element of LOTR or Dungeons & Dragons. VI was the bridge, but we can still see the fantasy-medieval element the most in it. Seven really popularized the modern, future punk aesthetic in many Japanese game. Helicopter, particle cannon, machine gun, bike chase. Yes, many games were ahead of VII in that aesthetic, like Star Ocean, but Cloud and the gangs really took it to the space.

I played the original ff7 back in the late 90s/ early 2000s when it first came out. I loved the game, but I think I was still too young to understand some of the more complex themes. The characters were fun, and Aeriths death still hit me hard, but I didn't really absorb the socio-political commentary at the time.
Anyways, after years of reflecting back on it and playing remake and rebirth. I feel like this game strikes a chord for so many because of how honest and raw it is when exploring its themes of identity, what really motivates people on a deeper level beyond what they say with words, friendship, love, mental health, corporate greed, etc etc. It's all so poignant and well thought out that it feels like real people going through real struggles even in this absurdist fantasy setting.

@@Meromorphic graphic centric people just are annoying, games are an art form and not every game needs or was intended to be played at the highest settings. It feels too nitpicky to not want to play a game because it doesn’t perform to your standards. Idk. Seems kind of pretentious to try dictating how people should engage with art. Yes, I like high graphical fidelity games. So what? Would you try to shame a person for saying they can only play games if their stories, or music, or whatever other aspect *you* deem to be the most important meet their standards? High graphical fidelity is absolutely a part of how the art can be expressed. Not every game, no. Of course not. Never said that.

Just a few small disagreements. The Cait Sith part was completely unnecessary. Queen's Blood shouldn't have anything to do with the main story/completion. The moogle games were enough after two times. Chadley made me want to drink turpentine and now there's a f*****g female Chadley??? Some regular landmarks can even be a pain to get to...with a damn Chocobo! Tower climbing? Yeah sure. Let's climb a landmark that reveals other landmarks that lead you to summon caves where you have to do some stupid QTE button mashing for a summon you'll be able to use about 5 times during your first play through!!! Let's make open world traversal the biggest pain in the ass possible! Want a stylish buggy that gets you nowhere fast? How about climbing in/out of it animations that you can smoke a bowl to? Maybe run into a pack of enemies every 50 meters or so. Wanna sit on a bench to recover your health? Sure, let's turn the TV off to save energy during the animation! Let's crawl, slide, swim, climb and swing everywhere then have godlike abilities complete with superhuman speed and strength when it's time to fight! Yo dawg, you like leveling up? How about we level up your level ups so you can level those levels up? Not bored yet? Here's a thousand tedious minigames that you'll play about three times before you decide to destroy the closest object within reach. Even if it's your own manhood! Still not enough BS you say? Let's do that long dungeon you just did again but with the other half of the party to meet up and feel useless together. Still not enough, eh? Ok wisenheimer. We'll all but cripple your synergy abilities and limit breaks by either triggering a cutscene the second you use them or have the enemy move to the complete opposite side of the screen! Not convinced I see. Want to sniff around for crap on a chocobo and slowly peck at the ground over and over? The world is your oyster mate. The only saving grace is the battle system. Something you mentioned was not liking washed out textures but prefer the 60fps mode where the entire game looks like you don't have corrective lenses on.

In OG, Shinra doesn't get blamed for the reactor 1 bombing. You are eco-terrorists. People actually die. The only thing you see of Sephiroth is his sword impaled in President Shinra.

Even if you were to remove all the mini games and sidequests that do not add additional depth to the lore of the FF7 story, the game would end up being hundreds of hours long. The main reason it was broken up into 4 installments is money. If Remake was a massive sales failure, Square Enix could have called it quits on the other installments. But what if they made one massive game, with all those additional years needed to develop it, and the huge amount of money being borrowed to do so. If that flopped it would literally be the end of Square Enix.

There's a crapton of BC references in both remake and rebirth. (President's assassination attempt. Avalanche Old Guard. Diabolic creature in Intergrade also dubbed Diabolic/Hellatic Rayleigh is a Shinra scientist Cloud once saved. The singularity, and these are just a few). Rebirth.. Diabolic variant is the real body of Rayleigh and Nibelheim was its disposal site, but it survived. Broden's story of what happened to Kalm. Protorelic quest in Gongaga tell of Rufus's first attempt to murder his morally inept father... while not telling how it was orchestrated, and referring to Rufus as the defacto President despite only becoming Vice President at the time. Elena substitutes in for her sister in the scenes, and the training scenario is intended for Reno as remedial training.
The specific subject at hand is... there was an anti Shinra group that blew up Corel reactor. It went by the name avalanche. It was real, it blew up the reactor and Shinra retaliated...
But it wasn't cut and dry. Blowing up the reactor was a byproduct of an attempt to kidnap Rufus... the leader of Avalanche's Old Guard, a Wutaian second in command who held some intensely extremist views, had little regard for safety or collateral damage, and kaboom...
Survivors of his team tried to hide in Corel among the locals. Arguments broke out between the military police and confused but angry locals that didn't appreciate barrels in their faces. A heated argument led to a kid being shot, all heck broke loose, and all liabilities were quickly extinguished to protect Shinra's reputation. An accident where an agitated corporate trooper pulled his trigger a little too hard while being jumpy during an argument about insurgents hiding among civilians..
But it wouldnt have happened if not for the root cause... Everything Barret went through with Corel was all because avalanche blew up a reactor without caring about what happens to those around it.

Hey mero, just wanted to provide a little Latin chat here.
Though 'mea culpa' is used within the realm of legal speech as a noun, we have to be careful about sentence constructions using it due to the ablative case of the root phrase.
Literally, the title you've provided reads something like "my FF7 by/through/etc. my fault". And there is no shame in not being aware it comes off as wonky because, let me just add, determinations of what kind of ablative one is dealing with and how best to translate it from Latin to English can sometimes be tricky. English does not handle the ablative case the same way, much like we don't have noun declensions.

You have your facts a little mixed up, they said that the money they lost is because of “content abandonment losses” in other words projects that were in development that have since been canceled” Rebirth is not a part of this sum.

As a massive fan of the remake games so far, i can still say that there are things i do have an issue with and some story pacing methods, but virtually all of them has to do with the fact that they split 1 game into 3, meaning they now had to invent 2 new endings, one for Remake and one for Rebirth.
For instance in the OG, you only ever battle Sephiroth at the end of the game. Never before that. He looms over you as a menacing shadow. Not even when he kills Aerith do you fight him (only Jenova).
But in Remake you fight Sephiroth at the end of the highway chase and you beat him..... Then again in Rebirth you fight him and he flees. He's no longer the same "menacing force", which hinders the sense urgnecy and danger.
Now from a game perspective, had Remake come out and Rufus on top of Shinra tower had been the final boss and the highway chase the end of the game, people would have hated it too and it would have been boring as hell. So i do still get that. But maybe they could have used Jenova only and kept Sephiroth out as a boss completly and just kept him as this ominous presence.
And for Rebirth, my biggest gripe with it was the fact that the final boss fight took place at the same time as the most infamous scene in video game history.... The epic boss battle should have taken place _before_ the forgotten capital, that would have made that scene hit that much harder. And i cannot for the love of god understand why they didn't show it as they did in the original.
Other than that i think 95-98% of both of these game are amazing.

"the duck tales reboot is actually really good" I disagree. It's ...fine as a show in its own right, but it's a shit reboot. It especially did Darkwing Duck sooo fukken dirty. (to be clear I take no issue with how they handled Gosalyn, but rather p much everything else)

Maybe a controversial take, but going back to the OG is really rough for me now, and not because of the visuals or gameplay, but because after playing through _Remake_ and *especially* _Rebirth,_ it feels like reading a poorly written synopsis or rough draft outline compared to an actual novel. I'm not going to say every expanded section has been a winner, but they've fleshed out the story, characters, and locations to a ridiculous degree.

i agree with this 100%. doesnt take anything away from the OG tho. it's the blueprint now for what the remake series is accomplishing.
      **spoiler alert**
one of the very few instances in rebirth that i felt was a bit disappointing was when, in cosmo canyon, we didnt get the campfire scene with just the gang all together. they changed it into that tourist festival thing instead. i loved that campfire scene in OG so fn much and was looking forward to it in rebirth lol.
