    After this, future videos won't include Catherine Zeta Jones, no offense to her. 🙃 lmk if you caught the clues about Ms. Jones throughout.
    Also, big thanks again to Making Media Matter! Go check out her channel. www.youtube.com/@makingmediamatter3633

      How is it that you've made a 47 minute long video about sitcoms and talked about how experimentation with removing laugh tracks happened in the 2000's, as if The Larry Sanders Show never existed? How could you have missed such a gigantic landmark of a show in the genre?

    • @Meromorphic
      @Meromorphic  Рік тому +6

      @@goal2004 I mean, I've never even heard of that show until now? The same could be said for any number of sitcoms throughout the decades. I couldn't mention them all.

    • @goal2004
      @goal2004 Рік тому

      @@Meromorphic Then you've done absolutely no research into the subject, and only used shows you've seen. That's such an absurdly reductive take, especially when The Larry Sanders Show (and "It's Garry Shandling's Show" that preceded it) both were the original shows that set the new tone for sitcoms to follow, and they did that in the late 80's and early 90's. Talking about the evolution of the sitcom and skipping that would be like talking about the evolution of life on earth and skipping the Cambrian explosion.

    • @Meromorphic
      @Meromorphic  Рік тому +6

      @@goal2004 mmk bud. Or maybe you're just biased on the subject? Obviously it's not such a 'gigantic landmark' if a) I never heard of it when I watched a bunch of sitcoms in the 90's and 2000's, and b) it was not mentioned *once* in *any* of the sources I used - and yes, in fact, I did background research. I didn't just shit this video out. Each one involves at *least* 100 hours of work, often more. But please, tell me again how awful my takes are.

      @@Meromorphic Just because you're not familiar with it doesn't mean it wasn't important to comedy. His shows also weren't on public broadcast network, he was on Showtime and on HBO, so that might explain why you're not as familiar.
      The fact that instead of looking into Shandling even after I mentioned it you just chose to snap back at me shows what you really care about. If you cared about producing quality content you'd do what you can to improve it. Every big comedian you know that worked in the 90's and 00's has done something with Shandling. The Larry Sanders Show was a fake show about the production of a late night talk show. Look up the cast list, the writers, and the guest stars. That show was LOADED.

    I remember watching the first two episodes of Ted Lasso, and whilst I REALLY wanted to cringe, I just couldn’t. It was too wholesome and had a real message. Really interesting.

    Catherine Zeta-Jones absolutely terrifies me tbh, I feel like she may take over the world in a subtle way without people even realising, when the lines become blurred enough between who is Catherine Zeta-Jones and who is an actual real human in terms of online persona, if she became autonomous enough to be present online without being noticed. How do we know Catherine Zeta-Jones wouldn’t end up running for office with false images, videos, and speech that is realistic enough that we never even notice, since a person can exist almost unquestioned online these days? Or realistic to the point that enough people in the right places believe it to have an impact? And if she is conscious enough to do that, is she even illegitimate?

    Ted Lasso like mentioned by many manages to get be on the line of funny and not cringe yet on s3 it seems to be slipping away from them. The cringe is getting stronger and it feels stiff this season. It is a shame as it was one of my favorites. Great video, you have convinced me to watch Barry.

    The show Frasier fits in perfectly here and it’s my favorite show. Never makes me actually think with any ~trump republican~ OR leftists jokes. As someone with ptsd and they never triggered any of my experiences. I would be writing a physical version of this video but I like weed. So I have it shown to me instead😂😂

    And I was just thinking that they're not sitcom when you mentioned that they "evolved from what we considered to be sitcoms" and I think that's a good observation.

    Great video as always. As a ted lasso fan you put succinctly into words why I love the show and given me a recommendation to check out Barry. Though the advancement to AI, at least for me, is pretty unnerving. As someone who wants to become either a writer or go into acting, the programs wont replace the jobs per say but give leeway to corporations to pay artists less as their would be less of them fulfilling less important work. It seems that the last jobs that are going to be automated are hard, low paying, menial, and unskilled work that is simply unprofitable to automate on a large scale. It is ironic considering how automation has been sold historically as freeing up more time for people to pursue creative endeavors yet now it seems that it will instead trivialize humans all in service of ever greater profits. But off of my doomerism, some steps anyone reading this comment can take to soften the blow that automation will put to the workforce is to make community mutual support networks and unionize your workplace so that you and your coworkers can ensure better working conditions and pay.

      Thank you so much for your kind comment. Would you mind editing out the chatgpt name though? Don't want to spoil anyone scrolling the comments.
      As to the rest of your comment, I'm adopting a wait-and-see approach. I like that it's already being discussed at the highest levels. I just hope it isn't all talk. And while I definitely think it COULD be used to automate the menial parts of jobs without displacing workers altogether, I just hope that doesn't lead to cutting back of jobs if they are deemed redundant. Again, we'll just have to see

      @@Meromorphic Yeah, its still too early to say for sure but the technology already has pain points as you said with plagarism. Unfortunately, copyright law is basically set up to support large corporations and not small independant artisits so without changes to those, AI Art programs can get away with whatever they want.

    I watched Ted Lasso in it's entirety, and it was a once in a lifetime experience...
    but Barry has such a high barrier of entry when it comes to their Humor Style, it is sometimes cringe by design but it is so much more engaging because of it's Dark Themes.
