  • Hey friends! I wanted to make a video in which I express my struggles as a nursing student who failed in my accelerated nursing program. In this video I discuss my frustrations with the program and not being able to keep up, details of my failure, and applying to another school. I hope this video encourages some to keep going and to never give up on their dreams of becoming a nurse. Thanks for tuning in and watching :)

I failed out my program on December and I cried like a baby. I failed by 1 point! I was depressed and embarrassed! I do plan to reapply to another school because I don’t think my school allows me reapply to their program. I wish you nothing but the best, you are smart and can absolutely do this!!

Hi. I totally understand. I just finished an ABSN program and no it’s not easy especially I was minority and all white private school. I felt odd literally having to ask people if I can join their study group. Now I’m trying to pass my state boards. You can definitely do it! Re-apply! I believe in you.

Yikes, that must of been an awkward feeling being in a primarily white school. I always prefer diversity. Thank you so much for your kind words. I am definitely going to keep pushing!

Try reading & practicing priority questions using Saunders Nclex book, and always think about which answer will my patients die first ( Airway, Breathing, or Circulation) ABC's. Select all that apply questions use ( true or false method) Registered nurse RN and Simple nursing is a great resource on youtube. Practice
many Nclex style questions. I failed too because I didnt know how to apply the concepts and answer priority questions. I am in the process of applying to a new school as well but i had to learn how to understand the questions and the concept. You got this! Thanks for sharing your story. 🤗

Thank you so much for the great advice, Shakelia. ugh... I felt like I was the only one who was struggling with the exam questions. My problem was just overthinking the answers but doing the true or false method will definitely help me in the future. I never thought about trying this method. I am so happy you are applying to a new school. Good luck and thanks for watching. 💕

Be sure to get assessed for adhd as it qualifies you for additional time in testing.

Getting into Nursing school is stressful. In the past I have had some advisors tell me to change my major or even tell me that Nursing may not be for me. I am still taking my pre-reqs before applying to Nursing school. I want to be an LVN and then bridge over to an ADN program. The accelerated programs are to expensive. I can't afford to pay that out of pocket. I was not born into money okay. I have to work. Yeah that maybe the longer route I don't care. The tuition price that some of these's schools are charging it's insane. As of right now I am taking my pre-reqs at a community college. It's great that you didn't give up.

Hi Kayla, thank you so much for watching the video. Yes, nursing school is tough and now I am really questioning if this is something I truly want to do. My biggest regret was going to a private nursing college and taking out those big loans for mediocre education. It just was not worth it, but it was all a learning experience for me. As long as you get to the finish line, the amount of time it takes to complete the program doesn't matter. You got this! hopefully I hear more from you on how it's going in your nursing program. :)

@@jeneave Thank-You very much. I'm just doing the best I can to get through my pre-reqs and also take the ATI teas test. I have regrets as well. With getting my bachelors degree in something and I didn't end up with a great paying job but a lot of student loan debt. It's okay at least your in Nursing school. I'm not even nursing school yet. I had some setbacks last year my grandma passed away. So I had to take a semester off. This year I haven't been taking any semesters off at all. Plus I wish I would have gone into Nursing school after high school instead of going straight into a university. I'll be okay. We live and we learn. Hope all goes well with you at TWU. I'm from Atlanta,GA I live In Texas and i'm grateful for the in-state tuition. Nothing like being in Texas I would never live in Atlanta,GA again.

Didn't necessarily fail out, but decided to withdraw from one of my classes. The other one is up in the air because my professor hasn't graded an exam yet, but I get to keep one class if I'm lucky and none if I'm not.
The classes that I'm in were specialty classes in nursing. I was doing fine in general education courses, didn't fail a single class. In my first semester of nursing, I got 3 A's and 1 B. But I got two C's in this semester, and in nursing school, C counts as failing-it doesn't get you the degree. Reason why my grades dropped is they started putting in "clinical reasoning questions"...Basically, here's a patient, what do you do. These questions you wouldn't know the answer to unless you've already worked healthcare for a substantial period of time. (Here, one might say "well then you didn't study", but in that case, why is everyone else in my class who doesn't have a ton of healthcare experience also failing, and when I asked my professors, then why did they say "idk lol you could've read the textbook harder I guess." I even had people berate me and say there were online resources out there to study for clinical reasoning questions that straight up DIDNT EXIST.)
Reason why the state put it in is because they realized nurses with only an Associate's were killing their patients at a disproportionate rate.
Anyway, I decided to withdraw one class so that the grade wouldn't be on my transcript and that the school's "clock" to put you on academic probation and eventually disqualify you wouldn't begin.
I have never felt depressed in my whole life.
FYI: grades are 77 in one class and 79 in another

@@jeneave Okay, just want to encourage you to not give up. A lot of times it’s about timing and getting into the right nursing program. Sometimes people get surprised when I tell them the nursing school I attended was really good and I had no problems throughout my nursing journey. What saved me in nursing school was having a study group, we all helped one another and made sure we passed our exams and graduated on time. If you are passionate about nursing still pursue it. Don’t let that opportunity slip away. God Bless!

I am not entirely too sure how other absn programs work, but I am assuming you can unless there's some sort of probation period.
