That is so true. I have a fair dinkum home shop, with machine tools, welding, etc. available to me, and I am completely stymied by my desire to make a fine-feed handwheel for my Bridgeport! I would need to buy a bunch of expensive tooling I don't have... so I'll wind up buying the real thing for $70 because the $10 plastic one will NOT feel satisfying to use. *sigh* Further evidence you can never have too many tools / too much tooling.
As always I’m very impressed with your work. I’ve been around machining all my life and for a guy your generation to have your skills and level of patience and care..... this is a rare thing. Well done.
Well done brother! Love that round bar boring tool trick for the balls! Your approach to projects always involves your ingenuity. Keep it coming as you have a big fan here.
As usual Sir, a fine job of machining and videography! I really like your use of fast forwarding and high speed through all the basic turning and focusing on the parts that really matter. Thanks for all the inspiration!
@@kevinbreslin5718 a 12-point box end similar to most wrenches makes securing it on a fastener much less fidgety and broaching the 12 points on the rotary table/dividing head is WAY more accurate to keeping the cuts perpendicular to the faces than trying to file them to shape since it can't be cut with an end mill. That, and trying to file 4340 would be the furthest thing from a dance around the maypole.
Very well done. A nice cleanup of the original Multifix and I like the handle. I was talking to the computer screen as you were tempering the end done! A very nice straw colour. A good point to stop for an item that will see such heavy use. You will enjoy your tool holder for years to come!
I guess you haven't seen many of his other videos yet - prepare to be amazed! He seems to have access to the world's best boneyard / mystery supply of lightly rusted, heavily encrusted, perfectly serviceable machines and tooling, which he then takes home, spends zillions of hours (I'm not convinced he sleeps) restoring and returning to as-new condition with genuine TLC. I don't know whether he has teachers other than UA-cam, but if so, they should be damned proud of him. And if he is self-taught, then so much more pride is justified. (yet he seems humble, too. He's in my Pantheon of Machine Shop Mafia here on YT, including Adam (Abom79), Tom Lipton (Oxtoolco) and This Old Tony.
Never seen a boring head used that way. Excellent work. You set the standard pretty high for us to follow. The bad part is not many will ever reach your level of skill but it gives a level to shoot for. All the best.
Few weeks ago I finished refurbishing my Multifix holders, but I have painted them yellow ;-). I will post the process once I find the time to edit the footage. Nice work as always, and as always your films are too short, because they are a joy to watch!!!
I haven't left a comment on every video, but need to now ;') The overall reaction is 'beautiful'. The 'cinemaphotography' is really great, love the higher res (compliments your work) and I think the lighting works very well. The editing has tension in the beginning (at least) because I don't understand the method, the 'solutions' and your 'method' only becomes clearer as the video progresses, leaving me mentally oohing and ahhing as I realize what you're doing. IIRC the word technology comes from the Greek word Teknos which means 'art' or anything created by 'hand' or with intention. What I see in your videos is artistic, both in production and subject... The work you are doing AND the way you present it ;') As always, thanks!
Oh man, the finished item is really nice! Great work! I have watched a lot of your videos, and please believe me when I say that you are making the world a better place.

Yeah i wil save the world with stones and wood sticks 😅
The amount of knowledge you have amassed is amazing, your tenacity and spirit is unflagging and your work ethic unmatched. I always eagerly look forward to watching all your content as soon as it arrives like fresh bread straight from the oven it’s best consumed fresh. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication Cà Lem!
Very handsome and I learned a new trick: square off the end of a hard pin for use as an inside radius tool. I've been a machinist for 60 years and I've learned to stay humble. There's always something to learn in this trade of ours.
CA lem you are an excellent machinist. And your shop is great. Amazing how you rebuild your entire machine shop into a first class place. It's an honor to follow your channel 😁👍🍺🍺🍺🍺🆗🔧🔧🔨
nice work!
Everyone doing handle after my mechanic, lol😁😁
🥰🥰
@ you are very famous, also here in italy, bye friend.
I’m please to see that ThisOldTony is just as much of a UA-cam subscriptions hound as I am.
I wonder if T.O.T. is still trying to teach his mill how to count.
_Next time you encounter a roadblock, _*_This Man_*_ used a quill to broach a 12-point star with a scrap cutter!_ ☝🏼
He’s the man for sure. I admire him. He makes v excellent Objects and his videos are beautiful.
That's Jedi-level skill right there.
Cheers bro, even a deceivingly simple handle shows it takes great skill to make.
every part a work of art (actually better than art, a work of craft!)

Awesome work 😎
Very impressive! Thank you to taking us along on your journey (and the destination was spectacular)
As always I’m very impressed with your work. I’ve been around machining all my life and for a guy your generation to have your skills and level of patience and care..... this is a rare thing. Well done.
I so much love the editing and the quality of the videos!!!!!!!!!
One of the best content in youtube for me!!!!

Well done brother! Love that round bar boring tool trick for the balls! Your approach to projects always involves your ingenuity. Keep it coming as you have a big fan here.
I've never seen a boring head used so interestingly! Keep up the amazing work!!
Beautiful work, as always. Merry Christmas from Norway!
Beautiful. Using your mill and a broken end mill to broach the teeth for the wrench just blew my mind!
We have grown to expect nothing but perfection from you. And you never let us down. Awesome as always. Gary
Thank you sir!
Your skills in machining, mechanics and video editing are sublime. Very, very enjoyable. Thank you!
Sweet "bro"aching tool bro!
Thanks brother 🥰😅
As usual Sir, a fine job of machining and videography! I really like your use of fast forwarding and high speed through all the basic turning and focusing on the parts that really matter. Thanks for all the inspiration!
Creative use of all the tools you have, with a great result!!
The art of machining.
Eye candy brother. The way you film stands out as crystal clear professionalism. Its as dedicated looking as the work itself
Ca Lem, do you ever make anything that’s ugly? Wonderful work, as always. Thank you. Les in UK
Let me think... Maybe i will try some ;)
@ I just can't imagine it. Even your car battery stick welding is nice stacked dimes.
Really creative work, especially how you made the 12-point teeth. That made me say “wow.”
Professor Lem
Could you explain why you did it that way? I'm serious and have no ability to do this

My first though was he needs a shaper.
I'll bet watching you file that final fit puts a big smile on Tom Lipton's face.

Kinda lucky Lol 😂
Sweet!!!
Well done sir.
Like always, you're expanding your skill set while adding to your tool set. Beautiful handle, I'm impressed. 👍

What a gifted machinist you are! Well done.
beautiful result!
I really like your lathe also. and the way you restored it
Awesome !!!
You never fail to amaze me.
With love and best wishes from South Africa.
Huh. Wait a minute... you have a complete multifix set?! That's amazing all by itself, in my book. Lovely handle, and a pleasure to watch as always.

Awesome content as usual. Always excited to check out your projects.
Love it! 🤩 Tip: please use a piece of cardboard over the bed of the lathe when grinding.
Thank you. I should have done it.
I'm impressed every time you put videos out, keep doing what you doing!
Just discovered you today.
WOW!!!
Excellent video!!!!
Very inspirational to home hobbyist as myself.
That's a great addition to the toolpost. I love the broaching of the 12 point hole, and I bet you are very happy with the fit you got.
As always, very impressive and accurate work!

Amazing! Such precision on a relatively simple project.
Beautiful result, and beautiful photography too.

Nice handle. Youre a master in metal.
Great to see the lathe is full operational.
Excellent work as always!!!!!
I loved your solution for turning the balls at the ends of the handle. Adam Booth would love a handle like this.
Great video 👍 I held my breath when you put the hole in the handle great result.
A work of art.
You are an inspiration.
Nice job. Some creative machining. That,s what it,s a bout. Thinking outside the box!!!
