Love Nick. It's always inspiring to hear him talk about stuff, 'cause despite his skill level and accomplishments, there doesn't seem to be a single elitist or pretentious atom in his whole being. He's just a cool dude who loves what he loves.
I literally asked Nick what his practice routine was after a show and he told me the same thing as he said in this interview. The consistency is nice 👍
Ace, fantastic, brilliant. I’ve followed Nick and his gear journey for several years now and he never fails to be engaging, humorous, irreverent and yet incredibly serious about his craft at the same time. More like this please! Nels Cline is cut from similar cloth in terms of engagement and attitude.
Nick is the shit. Been a huge Tera Melos fan since 2010, easily one of my biggest influences and one of the most important bands to me personally. Thanks for all the killer music and for showing us to embrace the weird, Nick!
You would like the Dillinger Escape Plan on the Heavier side and Mars Volta if not already man. Try Protest the Hero and definitely all the Dillinger albums. Each song especially depending on the frontman, is just eclectic chaos
I first saw Tera Melos around 2007-2008 on tour with Foxy Shazam, The Dear Hunter, and The Fall of Troy. It was the best show I've ever been to and I was instantly hooked on Nick's style. He's such a chill dude and a huge inspiration. Thank you EQD for finally making this video!
I saw nick play live with death grips in asheville this year. I got really excited when I saw the super sonic on stage cause I didn't know Nick was touring with them.
Man, Nick is the best. I love how casually he does these videos, and that he never tried to do the "rockstar" thing. Rivers vibes. Love you, Nick; thanks for making stuff for us.
It bring genuine joy to my heart that Nick is best buds with Mike Watt and they play've played together. Minutemen, fIREHOSE and Tera Melos have all meant a lot to me.
I really do hope Pedals & Effects returns properly. I miss that content. Hell, if they got a Patreon together to support it and keep epsiodes coming out, I'd join it.
I love how Show Us Your Junk could also be called “Sonic Youth and people who like them:” 😂 Also, I think I proofread Nick’s XP-200 Stompbox feature and I’m almost certain it’s accurately represented 🤞
But funny enough SY only had numerous guitars to account for their tunings not just a bunch of gear… they’ve basically used the same pedals and guitars from inception to the gear theft and the 00’ till they broke up
I grew up going to see Tera Melos, Portugal The Man, and The Fall of Troy. Nick is definitely a guitar hero of mine-along the same lines of a Tom Morello, Thomas Erak, or Omar Rodriguez. But he’s technically proficient as well even tho he uses tons of effects. The way they navigate sound is so interesting.
He’s my spirit animal. I’d love to just hang out for a day. Best memory was taking a friend to see Tera Melos play at Mahalls in Lakewood, OH. My friend had never heard Tera Melos before and his jaw was permanently on the floor. Also remember him doing a demo at Earthquaker Day 2018 or 2019 and my dad listening in confusion while digging it.
Back maybe into mid 2010 my band open for tera and I was playing guitar into a weird bass combo trace elliot chopped off modified into a cab and Nick told me that my guitar sounded super nice. It felt nice cuz he's been the one influencing me using the space station and roland gr-20. Anyway bravo to him.
I like how the pug is in every shot not looking too surprised by anything probably thinking “this is nothing, Nick was getting way more hype last Tuesday”
We don’t love Danelectro in spite of it being junk, we love Danelectro because it’s such beautiful junk. I’m pretty sure I played that same junky Danelectro tremolo and still have it on a shelf in my studio. What a charming, passionate episode from a fervent music lover.
Oh my gosh and I thought I had a small music shop in my house. Lol. I used to have 13 guitars. But I gave half them away because I found sad people. Needed music medicine in there life. So I just give them away I'm definitely not a wealthy man. Earthquaker rocks, been following you since the start, making your gear at home. Great stuff. I love it, um, it's that it? I thought I had bad gas, lol. Love hate relationship with Kaoss pads. Thank you
very charming watching him pick up all his Super Sonic guitars, wedged together and under his arms and so on. you don't get that with Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Thank you for this. Tera Melos has been my favorite band since I heard them back in 2008, and Nick has been my favorite guitar player since then. Seems like such a great guy, videos like this really help show that. Thank you!
Thanks Nick, if it wasn't for you me and many other left-handed At The Drive-In/Mars Volta fans wouldn't be able to play a Super-Sonic upside down like Omar Rodriguez Lopez
I’m not on any social media except here on UA-cam anymore and I miss seeing Nick Reinhart on the screen. Make UA-cam videos or something please, Nick! Such a cool and entertaining guy!
Man I was really glad to read John Clardy is doing better (at least from what I read). I really love his drumming. The Disheveled Cuss album was pretty awesome too.
My original DOD envelope filter (which was my first pedal ever) broke and literally turned itself into a synth machine where turning one of the knobs would change the pitch. It was very strange I wish I still had it.
The new jazz chorus amps have a modified distortion circuit if I’m not mistaken, the jc40 does at least. It sounds a bit like a rat, definitely better than the previous models famously had distortion unit. But I just use my twin reverb and will use the fender pro jr that’s coli my in when I want tube amp grit, and use various pedals to push them. Compressors sound beautiful through the jazz chorus amps.
i have one of those same exact surf machines but its not sharper image , i got mine at resale for cheap . it needed work , i cleaned it up and i remember its really fairly well made unique piece .
Hey Nick your collection of odds and ends is great!! Miss you and Juan over on Pedals and Effects. Love you dudes ❤️❤️🙏🏻 Btw thank you too EQ, y’all are killing it with this series 🔥🔥
yeeeaaaa boiiiii. Nick is the definition of rad. got me into pedals and I've been in the rabbit hole ever since. also love how rough he is with his gear. lol
I'd be happy to restore your old DOD FX52 pedal. I'm not in the US though. :) Loved seeing you "junk". Really cool and right up my ally. BTW Loved you interview with Thurston Moore.
To hear (and hear all about) Nick’s Roland GR-700 guitar synth that was used by Steve Carnelli, check out this podcast link: wastoids.com/2021/07/22/strange-gear-nick-reinharts-tera-melos-disheveled-cuss-undo-k-from-hot-guitar-synth/
I saw Nick and Juan do a demo/clinic in Portland in April of 2019. Watching those two jam together with just bass/guitar and pedalboards was one of the most genre shattering experiments in technology I had seen in years. There are a select few musicians out there truly pushing boundaries and trying to find new territory within the guitar rock genre. Nick Reinhart is absolutely bridging new paths between musical genres that hadn't previously existed. It might be a bit clumsy and chaotic, but that's what innovators do. It's a beautiful thing to witness... also, Aphex rules.
How can I get Nick as a musical guest for my online school music kids? They would eat this up like candy. Let's do a track together Nick. So fun!!!!! Keep on jamming my man.
Just imagine being Dot and getting to hear all of the madness that Nick never ends up recording.
I've never been so envious of a dog.
I am sooo looking forward to Juan's full recovery and the return of Pedals and Effects
Love Nick. It's always inspiring to hear him talk about stuff, 'cause despite his skill level and accomplishments, there doesn't seem to be a single elitist or pretentious atom in his whole being. He's just a cool dude who loves what he loves.
words can't explain how much i love this guy
What a guy 🥹
ciao Rovetta
I could watch Nick go full "deep junk style" for hours upon hours. LOVE to see it.
Thanks for watching!
I literally asked Nick what his practice routine was after a show and he told me the same thing as he said in this interview. The consistency is nice 👍
I think episode with Nick should be a couple of days long!
He really has stuff!
I still want to know what that 9 string thing was on his wall...
TOTALLY YES
This is the definitive Nick Reinhart documentary.
The mere sight of this video in my subscription feed all but reduces me to happy, overwhelmed tears.
Well said 😊
for the uninitiated, this is the literal coolest guitarist ever.
fancy seeing you here
Nick is the shit. Been a huge Tera Melos fan since 2010, easily one of my biggest influences and one of the most important bands to me personally. Thanks for all the killer music and for showing us to embrace the weird, Nick!

What a great tour that was!
I saw nick play live with death grips in asheville this year. I got really excited when I saw the super sonic on stage cause I didn't know Nick was touring with them.
Sick!!❤️
This is like the most calm and soothing chaos I have ever experienced.
I watched this three times. Not sure I remembered how to change to another video. I'll probably keep watching it.
Got replay value 🔥 Thanks for watching!
Man, Nick is the best. I love how casually he does these videos, and that he never tried to do the "rockstar" thing. Rivers vibes. Love you, Nick; thanks for making stuff for us.
Super good dude 😎 Thanks for watching!
It bring genuine joy to my heart that Nick is best buds with Mike Watt and they play've played together. Minutemen, fIREHOSE and Tera Melos have all meant a lot to me.
No idea who he was before this video….1 new fan after! This is my kind of rock star! Who cares about “nice gear”! Love it! 🇨🇦😜
this is the perfect format for Nick
I really do hope Pedals & Effects returns properly. I miss that content. Hell, if they got a Patreon together to support it and keep epsiodes coming out, I'd join it.
hands down, a perfect musician who was born for a series like this hahaha i love nick sm
❤️
I love how Show Us Your Junk could also be called “Sonic Youth and people who like them:” 😂
Also, I think I proofread Nick’s XP-200 Stompbox feature and I’m almost certain it’s accurately represented 🤞
Liking Sonic Youth is definitely a risk factor for the Gear Acquisition Syndrome
But funny enough SY only had numerous guitars to account for their tunings not just a bunch of gear… they’ve basically used the same pedals and guitars from inception to the gear theft and the 00’ till they broke up
Always enjoyed his love for odd sounds and definitely inspires my odd exploration of sounds utilizing the guitar as a trigger.
You look at how much that pug loves Nick's presence, and you just know he's a good guy
great guy 12/10
I grew up going to see Tera Melos, Portugal The Man, and The Fall of Troy. Nick is definitely a guitar hero of mine-along the same lines of a Tom Morello, Thomas Erak, or Omar Rodriguez. But he’s technically proficient as well even tho he uses tons of effects. The way they navigate sound is so interesting.
Love this, agree Nick is such a unique player and gold star human being!
It's funny, the whole time leading up to him mentioning Aphex Twin I was thinking to myself, "Man this guy looks like Aphex Twin" lol
I’m so happy you guys made this.. Nick is the absolute god, most inspiring and underated guitarist in my opinion❤️❤️
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed :)

Yes! one of my favorite people! Been waiting for this showing of the junk. Thanks EQD!
I like how the pug is in every shot not looking too surprised by anything probably thinking “this is nothing, Nick was getting way more hype last Tuesday”
Oh man, less than 2 minutes in and I'm having an anxiety attack watching his try to hold all his Supersonics at once!
We don’t love Danelectro in spite of it being junk, we love Danelectro because it’s such beautiful junk. I’m pretty sure I played that same junky Danelectro tremolo and still have it on a shelf in my studio. What a charming, passionate episode from a fervent music lover.

Okay now make another episode about just the Hanna-Barbera guitar
for real. I grew up on that stuff. would love to hear those patches

Yes, please!
Yes, please!
Yes, please!
very charming watching him pick up all his Super Sonic guitars, wedged together and under his arms and so on. you don't get that with Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Been to long - glad to see him with gear on UA-cam again!!!
This was great. I love how at about 36', Dot is like... 'Yeah, whatever...'
We had the same musical listening history. He definitely has the creative edge I still had.
I don't know how to feel about the fact that i watched this video 10 ish times
No shame in that🙃
There isn't a more iconic Duo in the Pedal World than Nick & Juan.
I feel compelled to buy an EQD pedal just to support this kind of documentary video. Outstanding work.
You love to hear it! Thanks for checking it out :) ❤️
I love that at 23:41, you can hear Dot snoring 😂
Oh god. That gave me early 2000s being around 20 vibes diving into this type of music. Loved Tera Melos
This guy's the man, great episode. Thanks Nick!
Love Nick and Juan and I'm a long time Pedals and effects regular .
Thank you for this. Tera Melos has been my favorite band since I heard them back in 2008, and Nick has been my favorite guitar player since then. Seems like such a great guy, videos like this really help show that. Thank you!
Thats awesome. Glad you enjoyed the episode!
Thanks Nick, if it wasn't for you me and many other left-handed At The Drive-In/Mars Volta fans wouldn't be able to play a Super-Sonic upside down like Omar Rodriguez Lopez
This is beyond rad. Thanks for the intimate look into your world, Nick. I picked up an Octave Cat synth in a very similar way in my teens.
Very cool!
I’m not on any social media except here on UA-cam anymore and I miss seeing Nick Reinhart on the screen. Make UA-cam videos or something please, Nick! Such a cool and entertaining guy!
It took me a while to warm up to nick, but he is currently one of my absolute favorites!
Damn, I was a senior in high school when Tera Melos played SOMA with The Fall of Troy and Portugal the Man..
Man I was really glad to read John Clardy is doing better (at least from what I read). I really love his drumming. The Disheveled Cuss album was pretty awesome too.
what happened to him? love his style too. no idea how he remembers his parts
Ya really a win for the world
@@boarderking133 he was diagnosed with cancer but beat it.
Hooray…so happy to see this new season…favorite youtube content!
My original DOD envelope filter (which was my first pedal ever) broke and literally turned itself into a synth machine where turning one of the knobs would change the pitch. It was very strange I wish I still had it.
Nick is a national treasure

this is one of my favourite gear videos ever
also i need that dod envelope mod
Seen tera melos live and what a joy it was!! Nick is just a rad, honest, intelligent, dork nerd a more evolved mr.sparkle version of us.
Nick needs to host his own show in which he goes across the country looking for weird and unique gear. “Nicks weird gear.”
Spin off!!
This is the best episode I've seen.
35:36 That’s the iconic, much sought-after brass hit sample from the Fairlight CMI library, and it’s in a frickin’ toy of all things!
Been waiting for this forever
i have one of those same exact surf machines but its not sharper image , i got mine at resale for cheap . it needed work , i cleaned it up and i remember its really fairly well made unique piece .
watching this has definitely made me feel better about my noise box hoarding!!!
This show just gets better and better
Thanks for tuning in!
Hey Nick your collection of odds and ends is great!! Miss you and Juan over on Pedals and Effects. Love you dudes ❤️❤️🙏🏻
Btw thank you too EQ, y’all are killing it with this series 🔥🔥
Cool Guy, one of the Genius! I met Him once in Berlin on tour witjh Tera Melos. Big fan!
This man gathers up five Super Sonics in his arms and I immediately know I'd die for him.
I am so thrilled that this exists!
Nick's a legend! Thank you, EarthQuaker!!!
Thank you for watching!
Nick is awesome! Seeing him also makes me hope Juan is doing better.
The ibanez pedal arch was when Worms learned to fly
went looking for this comment
Hell yeah! Nick’s been in a ton of rig and gear vids, cool to see his lair
I love this. So much awesome gear. Nick Reinhart is my new spirit animal.
yeeeaaaa boiiiii. Nick is the definition of rad. got me into pedals and I've been in the rabbit hole ever since. also love how rough he is with his gear. lol
An hour long episode truly is the only way to do Nick's junk justice
genuine great human and safely one of the most unique guitar players EVER
Thank you, really appreciate EQD & Nick for this. Similar spirit, love EQD pedals. Cheers
I’ve been wanting this forever.
Thanks eqd
Thank YOU!
That rat pedal that was an actual rat was literally the best thing ive ever seen
I'd be happy to restore your old DOD FX52 pedal. I'm not in the US though. :) Loved seeing you "junk". Really cool and right up my ally. BTW Loved you interview with Thurston Moore.
Never heard of Nick or Tera Melos. Glad I'm subbed to this channel -- he is highly interesting/entertaining and seem like a really good dude.
the best part is at 32:15 when the pug is trying to taste those delicious super gnarly fuzz drops
Thank youi for the video....keep on Nick, love your passion ;-)
To hear (and hear all about) Nick’s Roland GR-700 guitar synth that was used by Steve Carnelli, check out this podcast link: wastoids.com/2021/07/22/strange-gear-nick-reinharts-tera-melos-disheveled-cuss-undo-k-from-hot-guitar-synth/
Had a hunch this was filmed months ago judging by his winter wear. Then he "revealed" the Dl-4 MKii and it confirmed my suspicion. 😆 Rock on Nick
Nick is a genius and a hell of a guy. Awesome episode.
Thanks for checking it out!

Such kind words :)
oh wow long awaited episode right here
This is the best video on gear I’ve ever seen
😝
Seriously tho love ya 🤘
What a treat, thank you !
Glad you enjoyed it!
I just got a NUX horseman overdrive, and the Fender MTG tube distortion pedal, and both are awsome. I can't recommend these 2 enough.
How can I get Nick as a musical guest for my online school music kids? They would eat this up like candy. Let's do a track together Nick. So fun!!!!! Keep on jamming my man.
"show us your junk" and "pedals and effects" are the top 2 best gear shows on youtube, hands down
🙌
Completely excellent...said the old guy (66) who lives in France. Now my Death Grips obsession makes more sense.
His pug is the star for me. What a sweetie
Thanks for this series, Mind blowing as always.
Glad you enjoy it!
Amazing video and I can relate to do much to what Nick Says. Keep up the amazing videos Earthquaker Devices.
Thank you, will do !! 🤟
