it's an israeli folk song, you know, it was brought to japan so they will do more sport. mayim mayim mayim bessason means water water with great happiness referring to the lack of water that used to be in israel. so they would sing it whenever they found water
@@bzibubabbzibubab420Water has a very important role within Jewish culture because Israel is around 70% desert and water is very scarce so the song is basically praising water and its importance
In the 1980s I attended the Christmas party at the Matsushita Electric plant in Osaka where I was working. Various employee groups performed at the party and I was very surprised when the folk dance group perfomed Mayim. I did find out that the dance was often taught in Japanese schools, but this video provided a lot of additional information.
Years back someone on Nico Nico uploaded the full Japanese side; I even downloaded myself. Cut sometime later both the video and my MP3 file go "Poof"... After careful searching I did finally found the *vinyl* for this. Even has an English side that doesn't appear to be on the internet whatsoever. Once I get my hands on it, I'm definitely doing what I shoulda done a long time ago!
Hilarious how much randomness Japanese culture has 😅 Hearing old Israeli Jewish songs made in Japanese just goes to show how weirdly their culture morphed through so many external unrelated references they had no actual clue about, and it all shaped them into the phenomena the world loves today!
Great song.
One day, our descendants will be interested in this
