    A lot of people will want to use leather that is not big enough to trace out the entire pattern. So we cut it to show there is an option of piecing it together if you are limited with your leather size. Plus we find it just adds a really finished touch. We stropped the edge beveler with heavy weight thread and jeweler's rouge.

    Try dabbing your pricking irons on a bit of beeswax, it helps immensely with it coming out of the leather after punching...JR Leather

    I've been finding using a fine sandpaper on the edge as well before burnishing has really helped.

    tại sao lại cắt ra làm 4 sau đó lại may lại ??? sao không để nguyên 1 tấm nhìn giá trị hơn hẳn, cách ráp 4 tấm lại với nhau là do tận dụng các tấm nhỏ lại thành tấm to để sử dụng

    Are all butterfly chairs pretty much the same size or would you have to have a pattern for each one? Just wondering if you could just buy the frames and make a few of these at the same time.

      @livewiya 5 років тому +1

      There's enough variation across manufacturers that you need to copy the pattern off each one.

    I assume the reason they cut and sew it back together is so you can add a reinforcement strip along the back and bottom to support the weight load when someone sits on it... I could be wrong just speculating... 🤷‍♂️ Seems legit lol

    I'm lost as to why it was cut and then hand stitched back together.

      oh ok cool, I think the best finishing touch would be wetting it down and custom moulding it to your own butt cheeks hahaha also it would look great made out of one of those icelandic sheep hides would make a real fluffy comfy and warm seat

      try "butterfly chair" on craigslist - they're common. Just get a metal frame from the 50s and not a cheap modern one.

    Anyone know why they cut it into four parts? Does the stitching prevent stretching or something?
