- In this interaction with TNIE Kerala, former CIAL MD and IAS officer VJ Kurian talks about the time when he started out on CIAL and how he was able to make it a success. Kurian talks about why Kerala needs more roads and why it needs to generate more power. He says that the Nedumbassery airport desperately needs a second runway and that the authorities should start work on the runway as soon as possible. VJ Kurian says to TNIE Kerala that he's had a very fruitful career so far, and he is very happy with the work he's done.

Today, listened to the full interview and found it to be more than just an interview. Team Express has truly taken a new direction with this one. The selection of the person was spot on, and the lack of unnecessary interventions by the interviewer allowed for a seamless flow. The interviewee expressed his views freely and shared his experiences so vividly, it felt as though he was conversing with friends. Kudos to Team Express! I wish VJ Kurian Sir all the blessings of God and hope he continues to guide us in many ways. ദൈവം നമ്മുടെ സമൂഹത്തിന് തന്ന രത്നമാണ് ഇദ്ദേഹം. ഇനിയും ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ കഴിവുകൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കുവാൻ വളരെയധികം സാധ്യതകളുണ്ട്. സിയാലിന് ഇന്ന് സമൂഹത്തിൽ നല്ല ഒരു പേരുണ്ട്. അതുകൊണ്ട് ഇനിയും എന്ത് ഇൻഫ്രാസ്ട്രക്ചർ തുടങ്ങണമെങ്കിലും ഒരു പബ്ലിക് ഇഷ്യൂ നടത്തിയാൽ അതിനുള്ള പണം കിട്ടും. ഭാവനാപൂർണ്ണമായ പദ്ധതികൾ ആവിഷ്കരിക്കണമെന്ന് മാത്രം. സിയാലിന്റെ കെയറോഫിൽ എന്ത് പദ്ധതി തുടങ്ങിയാലും പണം ഒരു പ്രശ്നമാകില്ല. ഇന്ന് ഇദ്ദേഹത്തെപ്പോലെ മുകൾത്തട്ടിൽ ഒരുദ്യോഗസ്ഥനെങ്കിലും ഉണ്ടോ. രാഷ്ട്രീയ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽപ്പോലുമില്ല.

305 crore at time of development of Kochi Airport equates to more than 3050 crores in 2018. He forgot to take the account of inflation.

Respectfully disagreeing on his first comment about the scope of Indian carriers operating out of Kannur on point to point basis, as it will not fetch the desired number/volume of traffic to each destination now. At the same time, the foreign carriers, especially Middle Eastern airlines can connect Kannur to the globe via their base station & thereby they will be able to carry North Malabar passengers residing across the world to CNN via Gulf airports. Indian carriers lack this advantage as they don’t have the onward connecting traffic (6th freedom) privilege out of KIAL via Gulf.
