I love the simplicity of the panel - it’s a work of art and I appreciate that it seems to have been done while still being budget conscious. Not everyone has the cash for a wall of G3X Touches…
When tower was talking to the other pilot I was thinking to myself “how can I ever be a pilot if that’s what I need to understand” and then you put in that clip of Jim Carey and I felt much better lol
Nice panel. I can never get over those heavy nose strut/yoke assemblies and oversized front tire. I bet it's easy for someone not used to that high of a nose angle on the ground to bang tail on landing.
holy shit, i cannot get over how clear that radio is ! no garble, no warble, no popping or static ! ooohh, i want ! if i hit the lotto, and can ever get my own plane, that is gonna be a definite !
If he were talking to a transient he’d be clearer. Once you get used to what expect, there’s only a few items to fill in, that’s all he’s listening for. “In the blind” the taxi instructions can be confusing, but on the ground, familiar and briefed, there are only a few options to expect, so it’s like option A or B. I remember when I first heard stuff like this Intjoufht the same thing, but it’s like getting used to a NY or Cajun accent, you just finally get it. If they’re asked to repeat, or repeat slower please, you’ll get the English version.
Terrific panel! No it's not a G5000. But it does everything and has everything that one needs. In my opinion, one of the best panel makeovers on youtube.. So many want the 10" dual screens and more. You have it all, just in a smaller format. The iPad is a great add-on for thousands of dollars less. i don't know why more pilots don't go that route. All the best and we look forward to riding along in the days ahead.
My panel is a lot more practical and achievable. That's what I wanted to achieve all along. I wanted to show that the regular, every day Joe could do this. Granted, it's still a major upgrade and if someone was going to do this themselves, there are cost savings without sacrificing functionality.
@@angleofattack Hope you are enjoying the new setup. You could do a video on the dollars and cents of it all; bottom line is by using the plane for business you are in a completely different category of return on investment and overall cost than the average dude. Questions: What iPad are you running, and what are you planning to run on it typically?
As a student pilot at OSH, it is so awesome to see familiar faces doing great work! New View has always been an awesome group to be with and its so exciting to see you here!
Loved the Liar, Liar clip 😂. Really appreciate your videos. As a rookie pilot with just over two hours logged, I find all your videos entertaining and educational. Thanks! Enjoy that new panel!
I love the “I got the radio.” And he had a bead on that centerline! He likes them 45deg banks. I can see him in a Kitfox soon, staying close and side slipping down like the cool kids. On that second landing was he high and long intentionally to practice hitting the white dot?
6000 hr ATP/A&P pilot here, plus all the hours I probably forgot to log over the years... I have enjoyed this series and look forward to the trip back to AK. I may or may not take some flack for this, but I have to be honest. The only thing I don't like is the way you 'Clear Prop'. It's funny and all, but it does sort of trivialize an important safety item, and aviation safety items should always be somewhat standardized, especially for a flight school. Other than that, the upgrade looks great. Thanks for sharing this journey with us. Throttle on!
Chris, so enjoyed your series of getting the plane to Osh. You had a very skilled support staff there doing the installation and all the other help they provided. The video series on your aviation journey starting in Homer has been the best narrated and edited I have seen on youtube! Entertaining, informative, and beautiful videography of sites many of us will never experience, except thru your lens. I am really looking forward to the return flight and your Cecil B DeMille production of the adventure. All the best from the lower 48.
Just stumbled on this after listening to a podcast called AviatorCast, and realized the voice of the podcaster sounded familiar. Turns out is the same guys. Great work and great video. Beautiful plane. You have a subscriber with bell selected for sure. 🔔
This has been an awesome journey to watch so far. Pretty cool that this happened in my home state. Im about an hour and a half southeast of Oshkosh, maybe we can get up there for the fly in to meet you. Waiting patiently for your trip home. Good luck!!!
As a student pilot flying out of KRBD (Dallas tx) seeing the places you fly out of really motivates me to keep being proficient so I can be as comfortable as you flying anywhere anytime keep being great and doing amazing things !!!!!
Awesome makeover. You and Josh Flowers have a lot of great things going on. I love the two ways of integration you guys have put into play. Keep up the great work.
Just finished your ground school. It was awesome! Thanks a lot. I live in the valley but I'm working and learning to fly in Dillingham. Hopefully, I can come see you sometime for a $200 burger in Seldovia!
the only thing left is to upgrade the engine to a fuel injected, dude i was training on Cessna 172s , with analog gauges, 96, and 97 model years, great planes ! i hate carb heat ! its a pain in the butt, i fly fuel injected, its smoother work flow in the cockpit, plus the engines that are fuel injected tend to be more reliable and safer.
New setup looks SICK! Its how I imagine the instrument panel of the batmobile would look like. As a side note, I'd like to share a tiny tip regarding the engine run-up mags test. My instructor tought me to check the R mag first and L second, thats to illiminate the possibility of accidentally turning it short and putting it back at L instead of BOUTH as the last key turn. Eagre to see your way back to Alaska. Hope it will be a ditailed series similar to the way south.
Love it I hope to have a panel that looks like that some day...at the moment I am enjoying my first plane a 1967 C150....thanks for editing this all together Chris you are CLEARED for the option!
aghh. I thought it was there but its only a premiere... I look forward to seeing it later... such an awesome series and I look forward to more to come!
@@angleofattack yes it’s awesome to see it fly again and I love the panel, surprised to see the garmin unit issue… hope that doesn’t happen to me as they seem to be taking 6 months… next day delivery is unheard of here in UK
Great job on the video as always Chris. Everyone did do a wonderful job on the upgrades. I'll have to start saving up to add on some of this panel work to my Archer. Hopefully the UP Michigan weather will break for the better here so I can get more constant on my IFR training and make it to a check ride this spring. Good luck on on your future adventures.
Chris, I've really enjoyed the series so far, the trip to Oshkosh was awesome, the panel is just like the one I have designed in my head for when I purchase a plane and I'm looking forward to the remainder of the series covering the trip back home.
Gorgeous! 😍 When I did the first flight on my plane's new engine the shop's service manager came with me. He wanted to confirm the engine performance and aircraft rigging personally.
Congratulations on the completed build! I can't wait to see the video of the flight back. I'm planning to come up to Alaska to fly with you some time soon.
Look forward to working you back into Alaskan airspace and back into HOM, assuming you go IFR. Have a safe journey back to Alaska. FYI, we don't have ADSB or radar coverage from Northway to roughly Palmer, if you use V456. We have full ADSB and/or radar coverage through southeast though if you come up that way.
That looks amazing, will be trying to get something like that into my 172. Probably not the engine monitoring, at least to start with, due to lack of funds🤣. So much to do, so little money 🤣. I like the way you have a “six pack” style panel but with the flexibility and info of going digital. The audio sounded great, will have to be getting some of that👍.
Looking sweet. Gotta work on that video sync frame rate. That guy walking around the blade too scared the hell out of me. Looks like you meant “right crosswind” (not left)?
Congrats, she is beautiful, job well done. Look forward to flying with you on your way home. You could stop by and say if you get up KCOE way. Chaplain Billy
Beautiful! I'm not even into training yet but I'm so excited for the future when I may start small. I plan to start with your ground school program. Will take a discovery flight this August. Really expensive. $195. I hope to buy my own plane in retirement in about 4 years. Would you mind telling us how much those updates cost? I would love to have that in a plane I may one day buy, or do the updates. I'm finding quite a few planes quite cheap, for a plane that is. You can buy a 1940's Beechcraft for about $23k. I hope to one day have my own. Thank you so much for your great videos!
Great reveal and a beautiful panel. I fly a D model as well and your pattern work was interesting with speed and flap. I'll have to try your method sometime. I was curious about your shoulder harness as the Johnson bar flaps require you to lean forward to actuate. I would like to install a harness system but am curious if a retractable style is needed. Thanks for sharing the journey.
Finally done! Did you enjoy the series seeing the panel being done? What was your favorite part? Share your thoughts!
You always put out the best content. Always a pleasure watching.👍
I love the simplicity of the panel - it’s a work of art and I appreciate that it seems to have been done while still being budget conscious. Not everyone has the cash for a wall of G3X Touches…
Really liked the details of the panel design and install. Simply beautiful! Now really looking forward to some IFR training and flying!!!
I enjoyed the flight in and the finished product. Very nice!
My favourite part was how you immediately shared the joy by taking up some of the people that had been working on the install.
When tower was talking to the other pilot I was thinking to myself “how can I ever be a pilot if that’s what I need to understand” and then you put in that clip of Jim Carey and I felt much better lol
It will be interesting to see the trip back being able to use instruments.
Yeah, it's a much harder journey going back.
Great job, thanks for sharing!!!
It's was great seeing Jessica flying the plane she and crew upgraded. I'm sure she was proud.
I'm just here for the "CLEAR!"
Nice panel. I can never get over those heavy nose strut/yoke assemblies and oversized front tire. I bet it's easy for someone not used to that high of a nose angle on the ground to bang tail on landing.
Chris, you're a funny dude. Wish you were in Oregon. I'd hire you in a heartbeat to learn from.
My son and I took our first lesson on his 12 the birthday. Can't wait to see him take pic from me like that
holy shit, i cannot get over how clear that radio is ! no garble, no warble, no popping or static ! ooohh, i want ! if i hit the lotto, and can ever get my own plane, that is gonna be a definite !

the younger crowds would say this beautiful retro girl got a glo-up !
Love the Jim Carrey clip. Doing my instrument training now and i can’t tell you how many times i felt like that. LOL.

Love the white interior, the floor without carpet, and the backseats removed. So much room back there.
the CLEAR screams are the best.
Haha you’re the first person I’ve seen actually scream “clear” like I do!! 😂🤣
Loved the Liar, Liar clip 😂.
Really appreciate your videos.
As a rookie pilot with just over two hours logged, I find all your videos entertaining and educational. Thanks! Enjoy that new panel!
Jessica when clearing.. WHYYY?!?!? I like it when Chris does it. CLEEEAR!!!

Great finish to the entire series!
But it's not REALLY finished, since I will be flying back as well.

Great looking plane!
This series is great! Your story of 23Uniform is fantastic. (Although, I did notice a sneak peak from Josh’s videos from his float plane series.) LoL
Yeah, this was last May, so it's hard to hide it.
She beautiful! I like the fact you kept it kind of old school. The plane is as old as I am! But not on the inside'
Looks so familiar going into Rnwy 9 at the OSH!
Was great to follow along on this adventure and see 23U become a modern airplane to teach the next generation pilots.

Nice upgrade to her, cannot wait to see the videos of the flight home. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care, be safe.
I just luv glass cockpits,..🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️👍🏻
Thanks for taking us along. I’ll be waiting to see what is in your future.

8:17 I love your clear prop omg lol and the tires... like the big tires...
I refuse to watch the journey home unless I can be guaranteed a little 🎶“Guy on a Buffalooooooohhh” 🎶
One thing I did on my panel upgrade was put different colored caps on the switches at the top center for easy recognition. Also looks pretty cool =)
Love the video, wonder if an ND filter would alleviate that instrument flashing. Welcome to glass aviation!
Loved the series. Can’t wait to see the flight back to Alaska.
Awesome makeover. You and Josh Flowers have a lot of great things going on. I love the two ways of integration you guys have put into play. Keep up the great work.
I notice now you have the angle of attack indicator. Cool
Awesome improvement to 23 Uniform!
Dude, that is so awesome!! Congratulations on the series and getting it done. Can’t wait for the flights back
Can't wait to see it up in the air! Congratulations! Well deserved
Now we've got to fly it home...
Congratulations! Awesome looking panel and very much enjoyed this series. Great videos and can’t wait to watch the trip back home. Safe travels!

Wow! A 172 with a six cylinder engine? Nice!!
What a beautiful plane and an amazing build! Exactly what I would want to do! You are an inspiration, thank you!
Last year I got a quote to upgrade my avionics. I was shocked at the labor costs. This makes me understand why it was so expensive. Thanks- love it.
Yeah, it just takes a LOT of time. No way around it.

Amazing, the only problem with your videos, they ain’t long enough. What a great job they have done, Happy flying in that beautiful bird 23 Uniform.

Great plane Chris, follow you from the time of flightsimulator……. Love it, and happy Birthday !! 🥂

Congrats!!! Looks great and no doubt very functional!! Get back home and let’s see it used!!
Another great video Chris! Can’t wait to see the next one about flying back.
I can’t wait for the new video
