Yeah not sure if that is a green guitar, could be that ESP/LTD "Greyish smokey" kind of veneer they have on some models, kind of the same veneer that is on the PRS SE Mark Holcomb signature guitar if you know what I mean. However I hope they are coming out with the Mick Thomson signature guitars soon, I am really looking forward to seeing them and perhaps buying one. As with your question, I get the whole Floyd Rose bridge thing and that he is using it for the tuning part, I get that. I just wish his signature guitars came with the option to add a whammy bar for those who would like that. I guess on a cheaper LTD guitar they are going to put a Floyd Rose Special there anyways so swapping it out for a Schaller Lockmeister or a Floyd Rose Original 1000 would not be an issue for those like me who would want the tremolo arm and as a bonus you get a much more stable tremolo with an upgrade. I have had single cuts before like the Gibson Les Paul Studio and Custom. For me those guitars was kind of heavy when standing up playing and the neck often too thick and wide. For me PRS "Wide Thin" neck is about the thickest and widest I would go for and the Ibanez Wizard I and II are a bit too thin, so the Wizard III neck I think is perfect. In general ESP/LTD's are quite thin but more of a Jackson thin than an Ibanez thin, So I guess they will be kind of perfect for my taste. I am looking forward to these guitars for sure. I have never been a fan of the LTD eclipse Gibon les paul guitar. However once had a LTD that i sold. Nothing special at first glance, cost me back then 12 years ago about 700$/€ brand new with neck through, active EMG and a nice bridge, as you understand by now this was way back when you actually got a lot for your money on a esp/LTD guitar. Was one of the better guitars I have owned and regret selling it. I have been looking for it several years but can not even remember what the model was called
personally, i love his signature of the locked down floyd bridge and nut. i like a fixed bridge, but being able to lock a tuning down and fine tune it, i love that so much. By far my favorite bridge design. it is also why i like the kahler bridge, because it can also be locked down, and doesnt take out as much wood as a typical floyd
I think he'll most likely make an M-ii, which is ESP's superstrat, with some new rendition of the fixed Floyd bridge. I remember back when he started playing Jackson prototypes, a lot of people were super excited about the cool v's he was playing, but those ended up being custom one-offs and his actual signature models were stripped down versions of the Soloist with the fixed Floyd.
I sometimes wonder if the reason why we never got the V’s was because he wasn’t happy with the Soloist so he decided to let his contract with Jackson to run out.
I still have the pro series version of Mick’s signature Jackson Soloist, and I love that guitar. I’m still a little bit shocked he’s not with the, anymore. But I can’t wait to see what his ESP guitar is like. I know he’s working on a signature model with them. I like the fixed-Floyd bridge that was developed for his signature Jackson. He had a similar bridge when he was with Ibanez, which I haven’t tried but it looks badass. I have a feeling he’ll just use a standard hard tail bridge with ESP, that’s what’s on his test guitars now. But who knows, I can’t wait to see.
5:45 i got this guitar recently and am super in love with it, no bridge screws digging into my palm when playing like some guitars i've had, fine tuners are a godsend and the locking nut tuning stability is amazing, i've always wondered why companies DON'T put locking nuts on every guitar tbh, i basically have nothing but good things to say, and the lack of a tone knob is also just perfect it sounds great compared to all my other guitars and honestly i love the minimalist look of it. also the input jack position is also genius, that guitar has so many features i wish more companies would implement.
Hey Ray! I just wanted to know I’ve been watching your channel for a long time and I love your content! I’m proud to see how much you’ve grown, all while still being your smiley humble self. Keep doing you man! Cheers from Texas Ps Gizmo is so cute
My first guitar was a EC1000VB, still play it the most out of everything, and the build and sound quality is absurdly good. They'll always remain as my top big brand for guitars, might have to get an actual ESP now.
i have the white Indonesian MT soloist and love it. cant wait to see what ESP does with him. i almost bet it will resemble the same neck thru design but with esp. cant wait to see it.
I own his jackson, i love the fixed bridge. tuning stability its amazing but what i love the best is the feel of the floyd under my palm, its super smooth and comfortable. so for me its a big fat win. Also i was blown away by his pickups, i've swapped out my emgs in a few guitars now.
I think he'll do both tiers. He did it with Ibanez and Jackson. And with Ibanez he started with the RG and released a Glaive (I think that's the shape name) too. I like the fixed Floyd. It's the best of both worlds. The locking nuts with fine tuners. I think he'll start with the Mirage and expand from there. As for him moving on, it's always due to drop in quality from the brands he's got sigs for.
The Glaive model didn't sell well apparently, so ended up mostly using RG's again and then along came the MTM20 in white w/ 'seven' inlays - his last sig release until he left.
He still has a V from 93' I think it was. It's the one who used to record surfacing specifically. I think it's either 93' or 80's I can't remember. But he still has that V and it still sounds insane
back in the early 2000s we used to all use guitars with a floyd and block it in the cavity to play dropped A and stuff cos we didnt have 7 strings and locking the bolts at the nut helped with stability, i'd guess this is where mick got it from but the guys in meshuggah have a similar setup and theres a few ibanez you can get that have it stock
I saw the single cut picture last night and immediately thought that it was odd to see him with one, but also awesome at the same time. I hope that we get to see this as a signature model!
For me I love micks custom bridge with jackson. I love the feel of floyds but hate the maintenance. His bridge hits the best of both worlds. I also don't really like using the whammy or do dive bombs so his bridge suits me the best
I have the pro series MT and is great player.. and fan of floyd rose .. his set up is nice.. lockable with fine tuners works great love the feel of Floyd's to.. so win win.. but I can't wait to see his esp
How I imagine his single cut could look like, 25.5 scale, 1 volume, 1 tone (or no tone at all), no inlays, his signature S&D Blackout pickups, Hipshot Tone-A-Matic bridge, two colors available, white with black bindings and black with white bindings, high gloss finish, black or brushed metal hardware.
If a anything, since ESP Japan and ESP USA are strictly custom shops, if there are 2 tiers of signatires then one is going to be an E-II at around 3000$ and the other an LTD at 1000$. E-II (Made in the same factory in Tokyo as the custom ESPs are not any less good than any high end guitar, they are cheaper since they are standarized).
I've always liked the bolted down floyd style bridge and am surprised it hasn't become a more common thing, and I'll be a little disappointed if Mick's ESP and LTD models don't have it. I've always gotten insane tuning stability out of my floyd equipped guitars when the ability to float is blocked, stabilizing the bridge in place, and locking the nut and using the fine tuners on the bridge. Even better tuning stability than my hard tail and tom bridge guitars. I've never used an Evertune, but the tuning stability that's described on evertunes is what I've experienced with a blocked floyd, and I've always assumed that's why Mick did that with his Ibanez and Jackson guitars.
Agreed same here. I hate it when Floyd fan boys complain about the bridge. To me the maintenance of a Floyd ain't worth it. I prefer a traditional hard tail or evertune bridge. But his bridge is definitely awesome. My favorite bridge other than the evertune
I'm with you. When Jim Root and Fender released his sigs way back when, I was (and still am) stoked on them cuz they traditional looking guitars for heavier styles of music. Mick's prior sigs were always geared towards heavier music, but I was never a big fan of the locked down floyd (or floyds in general). Now that he's with ESP, the prospect of a single cut is pretty enticing to think of.
Yeah Fender really nailed it with all the Jim Root models. Smart of him to take that route as well. It kind of kick started what is now a long list of heavy music players using traditional shapes
I agree I think Mick having a shake up on what shape/hardware on a guitar works for him and going to an elite company like ESP, so good and so many sales. I feel like it's a long time coming refresh. If it ain't broke don't fix it isn't a bad saying, but seeing Mick use some new guitar shape would be killer.
I haven't played the video before this comment. I just want to say that Mick has pulled off many different styles of body shapes over the years. And I think he could pull off the single-cut look, too. It just needs the right finish.
Im fine with all the specs he had w his ibanez and Jackson models minus the tremolo bridge, I’d prefer a tune o matic or fixed bridge and also I’d like for it to be an arch top like a horizon body for sure
Considering ESp has owned Schecter since 1987, it is hard to imagine him leaving one for the other. Glad to see him with the best guitar company in the world.
i´m interested in how his signature Fishmans will sound like compared to his Blackouts. i got his Blackouts in my Solar 7-string and they are so beastly.
Honestly I get it with the fixed floyd rose. It's a feel thing, I really like the feel of a floyd rose bridge for palm mutes, I played a floyd equipped guitar all through high school and that guitar is still probably the best feeling guitar I have ever played (Joe Satriani signature thay unfortunately was stolen). But if you like the feel of a floyd but you need the stability of a fixed bridge what are ya gonna do? Direct mount thay baby solid that's what you do. A single cut would be dope though.
I say why not both a Horizon based model and an Eclipse (single cut model). They done that for other artists. I'm thinking he might drop the whole Flyod that's actually a fixed bridge thing for a more traditional fixed bridge thow. He used that bridge for so long because it was what he was used to as he started off with a guitar that had a normal flyod, and he just wanted that feeling. After playing those ESP guitars with modern set-ups, he might very well now feel like using a more practical fixed bridge. .
The single cut esp and ltd are bad ass . The only thing I would do is put some motor city pickups in there . Detroiter in the bridge and a second degree black belt in the neck. Vintage black with binding . 😉
I think there is a small market for the fixed floyd bridge. I like the feel of a floyd on the right hand but want the stability of it fixed! Wasnt the schaller hannes or whatever bridge designed for that purpose? Dont think it ever really caught on tho.
Probably Mick signature with ESP would be a Horizon or M type.. but I think that maybe ESP will do what they’ve done with Kirk Hammett’s sigs or Hetfield’s sigs or what Gibson did with Mustaine’s sigs.. Not only one shape with his signature but two or three.. and btw it will be strange if we see a Mick Thomson sig and not be a superstrat style guitar but man, the Eclipse looks amazing with him! 😉
A single cut and a v would blow my mind they probably just sent him some horizons to check out so he knows how much nicer esp is than Jackson and Ibanez right now
His Import Jackson's were pretty solid last time I got to check one out and were reasonably priced for us who can't or don't want to spend the cash for the USA versions. His Custom Jackson's were already sick and it seemed to fit him well. Seems like he's repeating the same story since BC Rich, Ibanez, Jackson and now ESP as how he finally wanted to work with "x'" brand and how he feels at home.. Whatever he designs it won't be any different than what Jackson could've done for him except maybe a fancy color or body top.. But hey what ever works for him. If you already own one of his Jackson Soloist's keep it, there's nothing wrong with it.
He had a killer B.C. Rich signature model ... I would go with something like LTD AX series but in this type of red finish and of course - Arrow... but Esp superstrats and eclipse are boring to me... . Most of guitar nerds didn't even notice that he switched to Jackson because the models were too similar to Ibanez models. My favorite ESP model is Viper but I don't see him with this guitar...
For such a big artist, I can easily see them releasing an LTD 200 & 600, EII and ESP Custom version of his model initially. Whatever he does though, get rid of the fucking blade switch and use a toggle.
The difference being Jackson doesn’t have a 2nd brand name. They’re all just Jackson weather it’s made in USA, Japan or Indonesia it all says Jackson on the headstock where as ESP distinguishes their different factories. The USA guitars get the ESP logo on the headstock, Japan says E-ii in them and their Indonesian line is LTD
I hope his new signature will be an M-II with Hipshot Bridge and his new Fishmans, reverse Headstock and in silver sparkle finish. (Like the one his wife showed on her Instagram) Personally I really disliked the fixed floyd style bridges and they‘re the only reason I don‘t own any of his Jackson or Ibanez Sigs.
The fixed Floyd is as simple to use as any hardtail there's no float to worry about and I havent noticed any less sustain but that's just me cause I love his Jackson soloist to death.
I feel like it be cool with a full thickness eclipse body shape signature guitar. I'd rather buy that than another typical strat body shape with the bridge used previously.
The eclipse he's playing in the photo looks like a full thickness and also only has 22 frets. Quite a departure from his previous sigs so I'm skeptical as to whether he'd go down that route.
@@Callum-Morrison you never know man. I guess we will have to see what he decides. Maybe ESP and Mick will do a signature line like Jim Root and Fender have done.
I thought the fixed Floyd bridge was weird but seems like a lot of people like it. I’ve never liked the look of his signature pickups either. Can’t stand the Duncan logo right in the middle. The guitars themselves have all been pretty sweet though.
I kinda hope he does his own shape. Making the same guitar at Ibanez...then Jackson...and now ESP? Lol 🤷♂️ I wonder if he'll explain why he left Jackson? Mainly money, or more. Him and Mark Morton have been really quiet about it.

Yep, you nailed it.
The black BC Rich one was still the absolute peak aesthetic. The Ibanez MTM is a strong second place.
I just bought a very minty LTD KH 602 used. This is my first ESP/LTD guitar. Im very very impressed! I'll be paying more attention to ESP from now on.

@@EduardoPinto814 oh, didn't know!
The green guitar from the early days was his custom Jackson. He had that before slipknot.

I always wanted the HATE inlay guitar since way back. Then I fell for the Neil Westfall LTD…I’m thinking a mix of both will sell very well.
Looks like hes ditching the fixed floyd rose style bridge too wonder if he will go for the hipshot bridge

A single cut hard tail would drain my bank account fast. Much love ❤
I cannot wait for his signature les Paul
I'm surprised Mick hasn't used an evertune live or in the studio given the Jackson and Ibanez proprietary bridges were designed for tuning stability.

gary holt rocks the single cut will look killer
The same as he had with Jackson. But please let, PLEASE! MICK! NO PICKUP RINGS! PUH-LEEEEZE! The only reason I didn't get the $800 white jackson.
I hope he makes a king v instead of the usual superstrat
Mick T is playing ESP guitar That looks and have specs like every else guitar .
How does it make a signature guitar ?
Please do a lefty 😊
He should do the Double Rhodes
I wasn't a fan of the faux floyd bridge. All of the hassle, and none of the fun.
Yeah, and a thing with Floyd roses is they kill your sustain and you basically get no sustain and also no trem, it’s basically a worse hard tail
@@cash_lovell maybe Mick’s is mounted in a way that has better sustain.
@@JokerCat9 I don’t think so but Slipknot doesn’t use sustain a whole lot and if he does use it he could always use a pedal
@@cash_lovell who said floyds kill your sustain?
The fixed Floyd is as simple to use as any hardtail there's no float to worry about and I havent noticed any less sustain but that's just me cause I love his Jackson soloist to death.
Mick gets ESP and we get LTD, can't wait to see what his LTD's look like.
Maybe ESP and Mick will do a signature line like Jim Root and Fender have done.
hopefully it has a reverse headstock.
I thought the fixed Floyd bridge was weird but seems like a lot of people like it. I’ve never liked the look of his signature pickups either. Can’t stand the Duncan logo right in the middle. The guitars themselves have all been pretty sweet though.
Named Guizmo just like mine! 🙂 Similar breed also, the little shaggy ball of fur kind 😁.
He was playing a bass in one of the pics
I believe you are mistaken
Mick playing an eclipse is pretty post apocalyptic if you ask me
You said it best haha
Shit! My cat’s name is Gizmo also!!! This is war, man!
Mick has a floyd, but he shims it so it stays locked because he doesn't use it. It's a shame to see him leave jackson, but ESP does suit him.
Why did he leave Jackson ?
Is that a Tex Mex wonder salsa singer Selena Quintanilla t-shirt?
Nice to meet you Gizmo!!
I kinda hope he does his own shape. Making the same guitar at Ibanez...then Jackson...and now ESP? Lol 🤷♂️ I wonder if he'll explain why he left Jackson? Mainly money, or more. Him and Mark Morton have been really quiet about it.
I wonder why people aren't using B.C.Rich guitars that much anymore?
I am thinking it will be a MH with a reverse headstock his new fishmans and a not Floyd Floyd.
