Good looking 10th Anniversary T/A man!!!! Especially since you had to do the MPC model. You’re right, they do fight you every step of the way. Too bad they didn’t provide the 10th Anniversary medallions that go below the birds on the fenders and beside the Trans Am on the decklid. One thing you missed, respectfully, is the mirrored T-Tops these cars had.
I had one of these, the 403-4bbl automatic trans. Wiped it out. Bounced it off a utility pole doing about 40-45 mph. My neck is still f****d up because of it. Bought another white with gold hood bird, Camel Tan interior, 1979 T/A, 403-4bbl also (I know what makes these engines come alive!), put the 10th Anniversary T/A ‘Turbine’ wheels (that’s what Pontiac named these wheels) on it. And put 275/60-15 tires on the rear, 235/60-15’s on the front, and traction bars on it.

Wow, brought back memories of when I bought my 1/16 Firebird way back in 1980, when I was 10yrs old so my build quality was not good lol. not sure the year of the model which I still have... It is black with gold crosswire/ honeycomb wheels with rubber tyres. 👍

That's the most desirable of them all. That is the black and gold "Turbo Blackbird."

I'll never understand why MPC designed those tail lights that way, horrendous. Always hated MPC kits. Monogram/Revell was the better option, but you made this look pretty amazing for what you had to work with

A big scale kit of a car of this heritage should have been more accurate and detailed than what MPC offers.

It's strange that they chose to make the tail lights that way... especially since MPC's own 1/25 version of the same car (10th anniversary) from the same time, has the ridges moulded into the tail light lens itself. And has the indents for the gas door.
As it is, it makes the tail lights look more like the ones from the Trans Am Kammback wagon prototype / show car than a normal T/A.
    Anyhow, Nice build man.

Looks amazing! First time builder here - what was the process with the hood decal - paint hood as normal then use water to put on decal and clearcoat it with the rest of the car? Thinking doing a couple models with decals for first build and I Love this one! Just wanted to know how you did it - looks flawless!

Beautiful, I just got the re-issue and only applied a nice layer of primer to the part racks. The hinge system doesn't look too bad, I wonder if they've updated them with this new one..

Question.... And to each ther own but...why a tan interior on the white/blue graphics combo car instead of blue interior? Because man that color combo woulda looked killer with a blue interior its beautifull regardeless

It's a nice looking kit but the final fitment was an absolute nightmare. The interior is poorly designed to fit and so are the doors. None of it lines up right.I'll never buy a 1/16 mpc kit ever again.
