1 Inch Mod Review: www.threesixty...
In this video I'll be comparing the Insta360 One R 1 Inch Mod and the 4K Mod. The 1 Inch Mod is the more advanced lens available for the Insta360 One R modular camera. It allows you to shoot very high quality video and photos, particularly in low light environments.
The purpose of this video is to establish exactly how much better the One Inch Mod is compared to the 4K mod. Both lenses allows the Insta360 One R to shoot linear video as well as 360 video. Is it worth spending the extra money to get the One Inch Mod.
What do you think? Is the 1-Inch mod worth the extra cash?
INSTA360 One R ONE INCH MOD VS 4K MOD
Your 1" mod does the same as mine and I can't believe you did not call it out or maybe you just did not notice it. It suffers from jittering - look at the night shot where you were shooting 60fps slowed down whilst walking (5:32) and you can clearly see the video jitter especially in the lights (when static it does not do it). Mine does exactly the same and unfortunately it also does it in dayight when the lighting conditions are slightly difficult, like moving through shaded areas into the light. None of my other cameras do this at all. Maybe it's something to do with the flowstate as when the camera is static it's fine as mentioned earlier. I have not tested it since the new firmware update (mid Sept). Maybe you can do a video hilighting this issue?
Thank you for pointing out that issue. That made my decision making much easier.
thats not jitter, the sensor is doing its "best" to avoid flickering whilst filming at 60fps or higher, and thats what you are seeing, its the light thats moving. this is a simple fix in a firmware update if they do it.
@@Mathewmartialart Nope, in high contrast daylight the 1" struggles with branches and blown out skies which flicker too, sometimes rendering the footage unusable - mine does all the time and I'm shooting at 25fps. Try walking through the forest or woods on a bright day and you would see what I mean, my Osmo action does not do this and nor does my GoPro 9. Don't get me wrong, in optimal conditions the 1" is great but they have not fixed the flickering yet and probably won't (can't). It's deffo not LED light type flicker.
@@phmassey I know this is old but I was gifted a 4kmod and found this vid. I never had any problems with 1 inch since day 1. Video flickering in low light for EVERY like this camera, even the 360s. FPS to shutter speed, plus ISO combos are a delicate balance that AUTO setting fail at metering well. This "jittering" is just motion blur of that balance failing. Normally, you don't see this and you just see grainy/noisy footage instead (e.g., in your phone, in cameras with bad lenses). I'll post proper night vid soon, I'll show you.
Is it me or does the 4k looks better 🤔
its just you :)
Day time footage i prefer the colors of the 4k mod and i can see as per your videos the dynamic range in the 4k mod is better, thing that you havnt highlighted 🙄.
Thanks for the comparison
In post production I can adjust sharpen and colour grading; so for the high cost of the 1 inch module I just don't see the justification!
To my eye the 4k mod looked a little brighter in low light conditions (although noticeably noisier) I would be interested to see how the 4k mod looked with lower ISO and if the noise level gets any better.
im not yet an owner of this camera, but at best guess this is all down to the bitrate controls and im wondering if he had it at full bitrate , as lower bitrate will cuase more noise
4k mod has a half inch sensor vs the 1 inch mod which is the 1inch sensor. obviously lower iso would help correct for noise but it would also be a darker image
That's what I want to know, a better test would have been to lock each camera at the same ISO and Shutter Speed, to see the difference. I'm looking at buying the one inch lens for night recording, because I'm hoping the larger sensor captures more light.
I think 4k mod is performing better
For me as a cyclist 4k Mod is more compact and easy to hold than the 1" as it's lens is protruding ,4k is pocket friendly.also some of the shots i really don't see any diffirence specially in day time.
What is the battery life for 4k vs 1 inch?
Do video times auto split? If yes, how long are the videos?
Can you connect to charger and record at the same time for long recording sessions?
the 4K mod is more for action, it can shoot up to 200 fps in 1080.
the quality is terrible in this 200fps mode...
I bought the OneRS with4K Boost. Found that the new 4K Boost mod is not compatible with the OneR core! 4K Boost works fine with OneRS core, but not with old OneR core.
It's compatible after a firmware update.
Next version is coming out I 🤔 think.
This video is answer for my questions low light If / when i will put 4k mod non 1 inch into car front glass and will be recording .There is not astonishing differences between 1 inch .Basicly we can put this camera also on gimbal that are pointed to dlsr camera and can record also low light cities .
Noises Grainy ? This is sport cameras so we cant demand too much .Phones will do bettet job .
Love this video .👍
None of these reviews cover customer support and it's absolutely awful.
~40 emails and over 8 months later they say they couldn't resolve the
issue even if they wanted to because it's been over 8 months since
purchase. Seriously dodgy company-avoid.
Does insta360 have a drone solution to rig up 6 of the 1 inch modules? The standard 360 drone kit with 5.7k is not enough resolution for good cinematic 360 video on a drone.
Thanks for the review. For me, not worth upgrading because it's not 360.
Moja X2 lepiej nagrywa niż twoja 4k i Lens też, R to bubel 8 syf
Hey I’m from Mykonos...glad you dropped the island some kudos 👏🏻
🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷
And is there a difference of FOV (field of view) ? (on paper, yes, but in reality ?)
Thanks for the comparison! Just a heads up, LCD screens can't be curved or that large, which makes it a LED screen. In addition, the current record holder for largest single LED screen is in China.
LCD can be curved to a degree, curved consumer TVs are almost always LCD.
@@charlesalexanderable I'm more of talking about large commercial applications, not so much household devices.
Agreed. Minor nit pick but it’s completely different tech. LCD is Liquid Crystal Display which is a very fragile single panel. Those big types of screens you see outside and at concerts/events are led panels. Basically a bunch of small panels with a ton of RGB Led Pixels, the panels are designed to interlock and are completely seamless once put together. Very cool tech
You talk too much
no diffrens realy... i have both 1 inch and 4 k mod... same vibe , but i like the 360 mod the most
Can you take 360 videos with the 1 inch mod? By adding another 1" on the other side?
@@crashkg You can get the 360 mod which can do video or stills.
Thank you sir, this is the footage comparison i needed! Cheers!
Hello. I have the two 1inch and 4k mod, and i think I have a problem with the 4k. He is clearly unusable, as if it was in 1080 all the time... purely ugly! Don't you have this impression too? THX
I bought one recently and I've been to Mykonos!
My Insta 360 one R is having heating issue
It starts heating just after 5 minutes of recording that's really annoying and maybe risky too Idk whatever
I was thinking of returning it and buying go pro max
Can you tell go pro Max has heating problem too
informative video. thx
I just recently got the Insta360 One R with all 3 mods. I saw the comment about jittering and I can say that, at least in my case, I haven't encountered that specific problem with the current firmware version 1.2.64.
Thanks for the heads up, I've just bought the Twin edtn (4k+360) and was wondering if the firmware addresses this jitter issue. I'm still deciding if the 1k kit is worth it, so I can have two cameras on my motorcycle,
@@davedree I actually kind of regret buying the 4k mod tbh. I find myself using the 1" and 360 mod all the time and never the 4k 🤣
@@FredEricS-Moto @Fred Eric S Ideally I should have started with the 1", but I think I'll keep an eye out for a cheap deal in the future. I just checked your Enfield vid out, lovely footage and angles from the dam, + the pov from the enfield. I've had my insta for about a week and can confirm from testing in preparation for my trip to Bideford this weekend, that the on board mic is crap. I'm using a Sony px470 and ext mic under my seat which works perfectly, and have just bought the insta mic adapter and a BOYA m100, just waiting for my 3.5mm cable extension so I can test it. Keep your vids coming,
Not worth the extra money imo. The 4k mod does a decent job in daytime and even in low light. Less noise on 1inch isn't quality worth. I wud buy a reflex cam if I need to shoot in low light with a professional look not with the One R.
Tell me if I want to shot inside room with light and microphone some udemy course, will this 1 inch do good job ?
Tip before buying this camera, When you first unbox & assemble this camera it will turn on, but it will not record until you activate it (why I don't know?) you need to download the app for Apple or a Android phone, what if you do not have a up to date phone, well tough better find a friend with one or you are stuck with a paper weight, when activated that's it for life. Great results from 360 mod & 4K mod & a great camera apart from the activation BS.
Make a video on insta360 one r issues like overheating and fogging of lens
Tbh this hasn't happened to me
The 360 Guy I just bought one.. waiting for the order, worried about if I face any issue like that ..
No youtuber will say that as they want the free goods! Had fogging on my Insta360 One R and sent it back within a few weeks for a full refund, got a GoPro Max and WAY better :)
@@paineys3341 I will see for myself when it comes. My second option GoPro max too
Should i sell my 4K module when i receive my 1inch 5.3K module???, is it worth keeping my 4k module if i will soon own a 1inch 5.3K module.
your videos are holy sent! thank you!!

Autofocus (Distance) & Sharpen compare both lenses.👍👍👍👍
Use 1inch lens shooting 1080p how about the quality ? Is same as 4k lens ?
I am checking it out underwater. Looks good but like the GoPro, shooting anything close is out. I was hoping this wide angle would focus closer than 1 foot (.3m or so). Looks like someone will have to come up with a magnifier/close-up kit for this camera too like all GoPros need. Wide shots are nice and sharp with the One Inch Mod. However, the dive case, like most, has a flat port. This reduces the wide-angle view by a lot due to refraction. Someday the manufacturers will understand that wide-angle lenses need a dome for underwater work. Glad you were able to catch a holiday.
Hi, may I know how wide is the lens for photos (camera)? Not video! Thx 🙏🏻
is insTa360 1inch’s picture resolution is good?
I was just skipping ahead a bit and then just got to "I was drunk alot of the time"
True story
Thanks for info...I dont know what camera you are using in your studio but it has a focus problem?
Thanks for the comparison save me some money
Spokes of london eye got vanished into the clouds in 1 inch footage (top left corner), seems there is some setting issue or exposer issue in 1 inch mod
Did you have issues w the Insta360 1” mod when viewing video inside of the Insta360 iPhone iOS app?
My videos are jerky, they start and then stop about every second. Doesn’t matter if the video is still on the micro SD card or downloaded to the ‘local’ folder on the iPhone.
Not currently getting much support from the company.
Good video but i dont understand. Writing Inc lens better but in video not bad. I think 4k better
Is this a live human or a goulish nightmare? I won't sleep at all tonight!
After filming with 4k, can you edit the colour to make it more colour with the software editor?
Thanks for the comparison 👍
Is there any way to change frames per second when doing time lapse on that cameras? I cannot find such option in both mobile and windows app. Normally app is merging all time-laps jpegs into one movie which runs quite fast.
Great comparison. I don't know why insta didn't use a lens with more aperture for the 1inch mod. That would be perfect.
flowstate this is bad, very bad
Qual configuração você usa para modo noturno nos vídeos com a 4k?
"NAIM"
Thanks for the info and link, just ordered a twin edition and got a freebie with your link!
If you have the 1inch mod is there any point in having the 4k mod ?
I was thinking the same. Probably not however I think the 1'' mod has a slightly wider angle of view. Its also a bit more fiddly changing lenses if you have the 360 mod as the 1'' mod requires taking off the front part of the lens when putting the mod in the cage.
Cheap ad
Do you have any information on a 3D mod for 360 One R?
2:31
Why can’t you buy the 360 duel lens separately?
money
Thanks you for the link, free stuff ♥
Muy buena comparación.
Thank you for another excellent video!
Great action cam that has high image quality! Thank you for the review, amazing shots!
Thanks
Blimey!
Very well explained sir
Pleaseeeee
Thx for a great review
what do you recommand 4k mod or 1inch mod? I need it mainly for travel videos..
Me too, I'm still thinking which one 🤔
@@ariffnordin4481 I hvae been using since last few month.. dont buy 4k or 1inch mod.. just buy with 360 mod only.. No need of those 2. You will thank me later!
@@rajkotianyoutuber What do you mean? Can elaborate more? I'm thinking wanna do vlogs in the evening so i feel i wanna buy 1 inch because of the low light
@@ariffnordin4481 I mean no need of 4k or 1inch mod.. Just buy normal/default 360 mod package. You will get great quality videos. Check my latest videos you will understand. I havent used 4k mod any longer after I used 360 mod. Its all in one mod you will need ever.
@@ariffnordin4481 ok if specific evening shooting only then 1inch but bro 360 has ton of advantage. Search for some more videos of 360mod and see how helpfull and good it is.
Can u shot a 16:9 photo scale whit the 4k lens?
yep
@@The360Guy and how much megapixel is it?
Thanks for the video. Do you have a tutorial how to setup the camera to take good videos? Mine are always with a lot of image noise
please can yo utell me it's minimum focus distance, i 'd love one of these for my lathe shots. thanks!
90cm
Their app thing is BS. Why would you buy a camera that needed to connect to your phone? I would love to send mine back and buy a real camera.
thanks alot , you helped me alot.
