    Hi guys I just wanted to Introduce to you my other Channel "Kirkman's Academy" - which i'm just getting started. It's a go-to channel for simple explanations for hard to grasp subjects such as physics, maths and chemistry etc. Here is the link: www.youtube.com/@kirkmansacademy/videos . Thank you so much for looking, and if these topics interest you then I hope to see you the there. Many thanks indeed. Craig 😊👍

    Really good video, I would like to add to this great work and say I've come across and personally have had problems with the spark plug cap coming loose creating high resistance, causing significant damage to the cap and boot. I now use red threadlocker on these little caps.

    An interesting and informative video, but, on a negative earth vehicle, because electron flow is -ve to +ve, the electrical flow is from block, across the gap and up the lead to the coil. However, your explanation using conventional current flow is more readily understood.

      Some people say that positive ground vehicles have far less rust.

    Great video. Think I did similar not being able trace HT back to spark older engine. Can this also damage HT lead and ecu bsi. Or just coil

    Hallo
    I have 0 ohms in high tension lead
    I testede with multimeter set to 200ohms the data skeet for the coil says Therese should be 7,6ohms with one lead in plugcap and the other lead on the base of coil the primært coil is correct ohms according to datasheet

    So , if replacing that HT lead, should you look for a car lead with the lowest resistance? What is resistance you would want as maximum or is each 2 stroke coil very diff? Secondary is supposed to be 4.5-6K resistance on these little coils? Can you pick a lead with too LOW resistance?

    Have recently received a new coil for a tecumseh lev120 the HT lead out of the coil pack was a machine screw encapsulated in plastic and plug wire twisted onto that on a high vibration lawn mower. How does one secure that HT lead better, spark generation failed after first use.

    Like a tuned exhaust, radio wave guides, antennas, etc. I never understood why they call it a High Tension wire instead of a High Voltage wire.

    Good afternoon mate.. thanks for the video.. I have found that sometimes a coil can give a good reading but still a bad coil.. why is this do you know why

    • @billshedd55
      @billshedd55 2 роки тому +3

      Mick, me old china! The higher the compression, the more voltage it takes to fire the plug. The multimeter test is done with no compression so it may test good but not be strong enough under load.

      Hi Mick. Thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated. Im actually in the process of making another vid on this, but certain things such as the compression point at the spark plug and heat within the coil can make a difference. As for the latter, coils are generally tested when cold, but when warmed up through usage, they show they are actually well shot. Good old heat expansion of inner components as well as small cracks in the insulation becoming bigger cracks, letting current through to areas it shouldn’t be can be a factor. When testing a cold coil, the multimeter will only pick up the cold coil resistance, but the hot coil resistance may be different here. I’m not saying these are the only points mate but the vid I’m doing will show a few more. Hope this is ok. I’ve emailed you about the other thing you asked me a few days ago as well mate 👍

    My mechanic replaced one of the HT leads in my car and a few days later I got stuck on the highway due to a burnt coil and ecu, could this be the cause?
