    I use all your denim sewing tips. Now, there's a new after-market presser foot for denim. It is made wonderfully for denim, including being hinged. It works!

    Great tips thanks for this video it helps with students to learn. Jean a ma jig is a welcomed gadget. The walking foot is wonderful. Basting should be done as tailors do this all the time isn making suits.you’ve hit on all the aspects of sewing these fabrics. Starch was my go to hack for chiffons to hold it down and tissue paper. Love is in the world when ppl share👍🪡

    Would it be possible to show how to sew on Toughtek fabric too? Specially if sewing curves or even a circle with that fabric!

    • @SewingPartsOnline
      @SewingPartsOnline  Рік тому

      I have not personally used Toughtek; however, it appears that you would benefit from using a non stick presser foot (to prevent friction), a leather needle, and time. ;) When sewing in a circle and sewing tricky fabric, sew slow. If needed, stop - leave your needle in, lift up your foot, adjust your fabric, drop your foot, and sew a few more inches. Repeat this process until you are completely around the circle. :)

    I plan to use my brother pq1005sl to sew denim, is this a good home sewing machine. Thanks for this video

    • @SewingPartsOnline

      Yes! That machine would be great for sewing Denim since it is a heavy duty machine and it would be a good home sewing machine to use as well. I hope this helps.

    Hi Sarah, I found it very hard to sew with Lycra, my machine was just not wanting to play nice. I used the correct needle. Threads and tension but still no good. I was told using a stabiliser underneath would help and it did, it was perfect, I used tear a way stabiliser but when you go to rip it way, it was loosening my stitches or leaving little white bits on the stitches. I was wondering if there is anything else you could recommend? I’m loving your tutorials, it doesn’t matter how long a person has been sewing, every days a school day and you can learn something new. x

    • @SewingPartsOnline
      @SewingPartsOnline  6 років тому +1

      Hi! I wonder if a water-soluble stabilizer placed on top of the fabric would work better for you? Or using very lightweight tissue paper.

      Sewing Parts Online thanks Sarah, I’ll certainly try, anything is worth a try to get it right....😊

    You didn’t mention the black button on the foot, that is for bulky seams, press the black button in, and the foot won’t be rigid. Once over the seam, the button will release and the foot will be rigid like it was before pressing the button.

      You would likely be able to sew light weight denim and light weight vinyl on that machine.

    Do you still have do stay stitch if serge the rolled hem?

    • @SewingPartsOnline
      @SewingPartsOnline  10 років тому

      Doris Saylor Nope, definitely not- just beware that with chiffon you'll want to use some kind of stabilizer while doing the rolled hem. Doubling up the fabric also works.

    How do you sew super lightweight nylon without puckering? Same as Chiffon?

    • @SewingPartsOnline
      @SewingPartsOnline  7 років тому

      Hi! Increase your stitch length to 3.0 to 3.5 and reduce your tension. Use an all purpose polyester thread and a Walking Foot, Nonstick Foot, or Roller Foot. I hope that helps!
