That would get waaaay more attention than UP 4014.......guaranteed!! Better yet, have either one of those fabulous steamers pull Amtrak for a short segment on the Southwest Chief!
I think with time they'll work out the kinks in the system. This was the first time they ever tried using it, so it wasn't unlikely that a failure could occur. 4014 uses the same PTC setup as 3751, and had issues as well when it was restored, so I am sure if 4014 got it right, they'll be good to go as well soon!
I've heard the VMT is seeking to equip 611 with PTC equipment too, so that it can hopefully go on NS mainlines again. They're having to raise funds for it though, so it will be limited to Strasburg and other short lines for at least another year. Big Boy's overall success with it proves that it can work though, even on the old steamers.
3751 also pulled the first Scout into LAUPT. Fullerton is my old stomping grounds. Hung out there a lot in the late 70s/early 80s! Excellent coverage. Never saw (or heard) Extremepadrefan out there when I was there yesterday.
Sadly they plan to have the P42 203 lead back to LA, since 3751 has issues getting its PTC to work. They had plans to have it lead both ways and wye on the olive wye originally.
Sure can't wait to see it this weekend, I've been wanting to see 3751 myself for the last 4 years since I started to become interested and later favoriting this 95 year old Northern.
Oh btw.... when you gave a nice bit of history for of 3751 in the description, I might of wanna point something out: During from August 30th, 1992 to September 16th, 1992.... 3751 did a very memorable trip. :) Wanna know what that was? :3

3751 was doing the work but couldn’t lead because of PTC. You can hear it chugging hard in several others videos. Also steam engines need diesel engines to accompany them on mainlines because they are not magically the most reliable machines on the planet, it's not wise to have one die on an important mainline, and not some worthless heritage railway. Probably should've done some critical thinking there, John.

It would be cool to see both Santa Fe 3751 double head a train with Santa Fe 2926, imagine what that will be like

Excellent Colin! Glad you made the trip to Fullerton to capture 3751, also, you gave a great description of 3751’s history!
Thanks! I knew this wasn't something I could simply pass up
Feels good to have Santa Fe 3751 back in action! :D
for sure!
Excited for this!
Welcome back old-timer, you have been dearly missed.
Hope you PTC equipment is squared away and hope for more adventures on the rails in the future.

Going to catch on Sunday when it leaves.

I think we probably ran into each other over there.

as of now no there is nothing scheduled after September 25th however they could announce new excursions in the future

I was hoping she would come into Fullerton on Saturday
it's gonna be there on display, not sure if it will be steamed up or not for people to blow the whistle

Hey Colin, nice video. How do you find out it's schedule? I would to see it going back to LA or maybe it might go to San Bernardino?

I was wondering what it looked like on the other side of the tracks.
We were recording from the parking lot.

When will it depart Fullerton?
Sunday around 4-5pm. allegedly will trail and 203 will lead it back to Redondo
7:00 my favorite scene❤
I discovered the positive train control box already equipped to Santa Fe #3751 at 15:27 to 15:36.
yeah it was there but they never got it to work, which is why heading back to LA they had to let the amtrak unit lead
Bell seems to swing all the way out now
yeah, they used to do that and it would get stuck upside down lol
