In her interview, Rybakina praised Azarenka within the first minute and a half. Azarenka, on the other hand, made it very clear she only lost because she did not play the way she should have, not because Rybakina played well. She only referred to her when forced by the journalists, and Vika pretend praising for about half a second came from her throat and not a millimeter lower than that. Her I would like to see where she is five years from now was ridiculous considering that Rybakina is 23 and that in five years she would be 28. Most importantly, the slight smirk on Vika's face shows she does not think Rybakina will have a successful career. She already has a successful career while Vika is on her way out, and does not do that graciously. She did have a great tournament, but it was predictable she was going to lose to Rybakina.

she has a point. what do people want belurassian and russian players to actually do. ofcourse they have a platform and donations available, many of which vika are actually apart of on the players council etc. but they are just people. i dont know how asking provaocative and political questions to not just an athelete, but a persons country who is also in war does any help to the situation. obviously russia started the war and belarus are part of it as are ukraine. but people forget that there are majority russian and belarusian players/people whos countrt is in war as well, just because theyre country is instigating the war doesnt mean their country is not part of it and i think a lot if people overlook that. they countries are so close together and so similar in culture, they all speak russian and they probably have family and friends living across the 3 countries and more. its a tough situation for ukraine but also look at it from the perspective of belarus and russian people who never wanted the war to happen or even knew the severity of it getting villainised and treated like criminals when just as vika said they are just athletes. its just silly. awareness by these big names need to be made, i agree. but what more do we want them to do without them getting banned from returning home and seeing family. we are talking about televised events spread across so many social platforms. one bad word or one politically outspoken comment they might not see family or their country again and even though theyre country are instigators, the innocent people themselves dont deserve to be stripped of seeing their own family and place of living.

I like Maria too but that’s completely misleading, you’re implying that Maria’s “problem solving” was the reason she never lost to Vika again, which isn’t true. From 2014 Azarenka was injured and then she had her son, from that point onwards Tennis was no longer her biggest priority. Vika’s dominance and results dipped overall, not just against Maria due to her “problem solving”. And Maria was always able to beat Azarenka regularly on Clay because it nullified Maria’s biggest weakness, her movement. If Azarenka didn’t have her son, she would’ve continued to beat Maria consistently on Hard-courts. Once you get Maria moving, she always struggles, that’s what Azarenka was able to do, same with Serena which is why it infuriated Maria. 👍🏻

That’s not what we’re talking about. Try to pay attention and be objective 😉
Not BS, just articulate, intelligent, factually accurate responses.
No Azarenka’s injury/recovery was only for about 18 months, then she fell pregnant and her priorities changed.
I’m not even a huge fan of Azarenka but it’s hilarious how defensive you are.
Yeah I did, I made the comparison that both Serena and Azarenka consistently beat Maria on hard-courts because they exploited her movement, which is purely factual. The point I'm making here is that, the whole "ban" thing makes no sense and I applaud Vika Az-AR-enka (pronounced this way) for coming out and speaking her mind. It's important that these journalists are kept in line because what they are re-hashing - very deliberately so - to these sports champions is nothing short of deplorable. It needs to stop and stop now.

Funny how after all she said the actual thumbnail and title of the video already tried to change her words meaning.
Anyway, one more reason why they really have to avoid getting involved in this malicious questions about the war. Midia will be midia.
But im always amazed how grounded she is while responding her questions and was so satisfying to see her put the reporter on her place. Which surprisingly managed to ask something related to tennis in the end, tho, as most, a silly question.
