Hey David, loving your vids. I actually found your channel last year on a road trip to our family camp. (I was stuck in traffic behind you 😂). You're motivating me to get my XJ running again, keep putting these videos out. No matter how awesome you make things look, I gotta see them for myself!
David, it's about time you gotta install a winch in your neatly built winch, bro. 99% of the time you go camping solo winch can be handy cuz you never know what you'll counter on your route. I believe it'll boost your confidence to explore deeper and do harder rocky trail in order to get to some special places in top of the mountains. It's gonna be rewarding for and for the channel as well. In my opinion it's a win2. And with 37s it will be even better. No offense to your current rig built. Just a humble opinion from a fellow overlander half way across the world. Cheers bro.
Trust me man I’m trying. I’m very aware of the limitations not having a winch puts me in and it sucks. It’s cool that I can work with companies and get products that are cheaper, but what sucks is sometimes that moves really slow. Because it’s so expensive I’d love to save some cash where I can so honestly that’s why I don’t have one yet. Hopefully soon
I’ll be hitting Moab for the first time over Memorial Day weekend. Doing the Bronco Off-Roadeo one day and exploring on my own the rest of the weekend.
Finally got a chance to sit down and give this one a watch and man was it worth it. Looks like an absolutely epic adventure man, had to pick my jaw up off the floor after that drone shot at 19:38. Keep killing it mate!
You get to some amazing places that I love to see. When I run trips into my favourite areas, people tell me how amazed they are at all the hidden gems I know. What they don’t realise is that I do many solo trips that don’t lead to amazing places on the way to finding them gems. But I actually prefer the fun of exploring to just going to the good places. To me that is the real overlanding and exploring.
Such a great video. We love Utah. It was cool to see the differences between you and Robs video. I thoroughly enjoyed them both. That camp spot at the 24 min mark was so epic.
It’s always fun to see what two different creators do with the same footage. We each selected different shots so each were unique. And yeah, that spot was insane
WOW! Even on my computer screen this looks totally cool. And I tend to like trees more than arid sites. Really like your presentation and funky music. Looking forward to your next post. As always "Watch your Backside".
Nice work! I recognize some of the Swell footage and the Fremont River crossing. It looks like you took the back way from Goblin Valley to Cathedral Valley and crossed Muddy Creek. We plan on taking that route to Cathedral Valley and out across the Fremont River but it looks like I should wait for the water to go down. My wife and I are posting UA-cam videos of our trips in CO and UT in our 2022 AWD Transit van built out for off-roading. We're pushing the limits for a van and last weekend got a bit crazy on the CO / UT boarder. I was thinking Bronco many times. This weekend we're taking the van on the Moab Bronco Off-Roadeo gnar on Dome Plateau. I expect failure.
David I’m thrilled. I was finally able to support your impressive work through Patreon. (I kept trying) Your travels, breathtaking photography, and storytelling dialogue gives the viewer a true adventure. Plus, that you decided to share that you are a veteran, it gave more context to your work. One of my favorites is when you went to the beach with your dogs, just to get off the grind. Never occurred to me. I’ve been doing the same since and going to a nearby state park. Thank you for that thought.
That’s so awesome to hear! I love those little trips just as much as I do longer trips. Something short just to get out and see the pups having a blast is amazing though and a nice recharge. And thanks so much for the support on Patreon! It means a lot to me.
Imagine driving by all the cool scenery in a semi truck and wanting to see Utah from this perspective, so close but so far. Great video, glad to see you going a little further than pnw
@OFFTHEGRIND when I get out I'm basically stuck exploring eastern WA, everything else is too far to reliably get back before work, I'll have to find some good spots near tri cities, let me know if you know of any, I'm gonna need that Navi map system you recommended
I know ford doesn’t pay you for this, but partly through your inspiration I now own my Ford Ranger Raptor and started exploring. Thinking how to put a tent on the car now. Thanks for the inspiration and great vid as usual.
Dude that’s awesome, congrats on the new rig! And thanks for sharing that as well. It’s super cool to know that I helped inspire you to get out and explore!
@@OFFTHEGRIND just having a problem now with putting a tent big enough for 2 adults and 2 teenagers, which would fit on a low bed rack. But seems to be impossible. They say a 1.6tent will be too small and bigger will overhang too much. Not many hardshell options here as well :/ But will get there somehow
Utah is incredible and I’m counting down the days until I’m back. Any plans to lift your Bronco in the future? Looks like you don’t have much up-travel on that thing haha. Excited to see your channel grow!
Dude when this thing is loaded it eats up all the ground clearance and suspension travel. It’s annoying. But yeah, I have a kit on the way!! 😎 and thank you! Hopefully this is a good year of growth!
@@OFFTHEGRIND Haha I get that! I dealt with the same issue with my 4Runner after my coilovers settled so I readjusted them and then I threw some stiffer springs in the rear; problem solved. Good luck with the channel this year and I’m excited to see the ride height when the new suspension shows up!🤘🏼
This looks super fun!!! Going to be in the Colorado alpine loop area July 27-August 2nd. You have an official invite ! Doing Poughkeepsie gulch and Imogine and maybe rim Rocker to Moab if it’s not too hot in Utah.
you mentioned in a recent video about a resource, or a forum called bronco & trails or something in that nature. what was the website for more information?
Phenomenal video!!! Well done! I'm going to be in the Swell this weekend. Can you please tell me where the location is at the 21:00 mark in the video? I'd just love to see it with my own eyes. Thank you so very much. 😊
Thank you so much! I can’t tell you where that spot is exactly. I was sworn to secrecy lol. But it’s a public spot south of the 70 but north of cathedral valley. Fire up onx and I bet you can find it!
Yes amazing video! Where was this? My wife and I are going to the Moab Bronco Offroadeo and want to go off road and camp while we visit. Also don’t forget to make an awesome video of all your camp gear: coffee making, food etc!!
You can find awesome dispersed camping on Dome Plateau where the Off Roadeo folks will take you. Also many BLM campgrounds along the river and up Onion Creek Road. This weekend we'll try coming down the terrain that Off Roadeo trains Bronco drivers on, but with our AWD Transit van.
Well done, sir! As things are thawing out in the Northeast, my thoughts turn to important issues. Foremost is my wardrobe for the 2024 camping season. To that end: when are you going to start selling OTG swag?!? Great way for me to thank you for the continued awesome content. Just please make trucker caps that fit big melons.
Hahahaha I did not expect that. I definitely am due for a new merch drop and trying to get some stuff figured out for that. So hopefully in the next couple months
Haha I feel it. No we did not, but we were in the San Rafael swell. Definitely go that way. Opposite direction of Moab so you’ll be good and literally that whole area is BLM so free to explore.
Great videos! Question about your wheels, do you run hub centric rings since the bore sizes are different? I was considering the same wheels and noticed the difference in bore size so thought I’d ask.
