I was honest with him, I wasn't sure, but I had a few breakups with ladies (nice ladies, they weren't bad breakups we just repeatedly ended up feeling more like brother and sister and im still friends with most of them) and wanted to... test the waters, so to speak. Been with my bf for 8 years now and my dads perfectly fine with it, albeit still not ecstatic. I asked him about it recently and what he was actually worried about was me seeking forced ?affirmation? (thats the wrong word but its the only one I could think of, if someone could help me with that... its a similar word), which I would never do as i'm pretty comfortable with my sexuality, and have never been repressed or harassed for it in any way despite living in deep red states most of my life.
As a mute myself i worry about the way people think about my voice, will they either hate it, love it or wish i never spoke again? I do miss being the chatterbox a lot these days but ever since the recent break ups and depression i lack the confidence to be the chatty one and instead i use the chat box

So long as the personality change isn't huge (who they are on the inside), I find nothing wrong with it. Sure he may look or dress differently and have other interests, but those are all on the outside, they are preferences. As for kids, long as under not damaged its still possible. Personality first always! Cannot stress it enough!
