  • On March 17, NASA rolled out their first SLS moon rocket at Kennedy Space Center. Standing taller than the Statue of Liberty, the 322-ft tall vehicle is topped off with the Orion Crew Capsule, aiming to launch on the Artemis-1 mission this summer on an un-crewed flight test to the moon and back. The 6-million pound SLS and Orion was rolled to launch pad 39B to undergo a series of tests culminating in a Wet Dress Rehearsal in April, which is a dress rehearsal countdown same as they will do on the actual launch day, except the engines will not fire. After that, NASA will roll the vehicle back into the iconic VAB for final flight preps and roll it back out to the pad for launch.
The first crew to return to the moon will then fly on Artemis-2, followed by the first moon landing on Artemis-3.
