- The largest diameter bombshell normally used in fireworks displays in Canada is 150mm. However we can and do use 200mm, 250mm and 300mm occasionally. But in Japan 400mm and 600mm are used routinely.
And for that very special festival a 1200mm monster is made, actually they make only 2 per year! It weighs in at an incredible half a ton and reaches an altitude of half a mile before exploding into a fire flower half a mile in diameter.

there is just no way that the video does the shell justice, especially the scale of it as there is nothing in the frame to give it context. Oh well, time to head to Japan to see it in person 😃

I was told $7000 USD, that is in Japan of course, I can't imagine what it would cost to put in a show outside of Japan.

Hush Lher The lift charge is loaded separately into the mortar then the shell is lowered on top of it. Too bad the video didn't show the size of the lift charge.

When the lift charge ignites the belch of flame ignites the time fuse.
+fireworksfx So its on top of the shell? Because when they lifted it in to the mortar i didn't saw a time fuse underneath the shell.

No es falso. La carga de levantamiento de pólvora se ha colocado en la parte inferior del mortero, el fusible de tiempo y la cola ascendente son lo que está encima de la cubierta.
