I have never smelled this. I will have to remember to check these scents out next time I am in Sephora. I have a small but nice collection of fragrances as I use to work for luxury publisher and twice a year they would have a sample sale and I got about 6-7 full size bottles of designer perfume for $5 a pop. So now I don't shop for perfume a lot but have been thinking of getting some roller balls to try out some new scents. And agreed the bottle is beautiful. Great review here! 👍🥰☺

The last BIG LOVES for me from Mugler were Angel Croisiere 2019 & 2020. I bought several backups of each since they were limited edition. If this flanker of Alien is like what Angel Croisiere is to Angel, I might love it. But, it sounds like it might be too generic, in which case, it would be a hard pass.
Yes I can understand that, me too really. Once L'Oréal took over, it was all downhill and really lacking in any originality. I give this release brownie points for being something to do with Alien, unlike Goddess, but truly it's not anything near the quality or originality of the pre L'Oréal March 2020 releases. If you love Angel eau croisière, I very much doubt this one will excite you. I have 2020 and have a sample of 2019 and those are much more intriguing, mouth watering and striking. I'm super curious about this. Recently I sampled the current Alien, and I didn't like it. But this looks different. Plus the bottle is stunning. And I love soapy florals! I'll need to sample!
It's worth a sniff in store for sure. In my 4 wears, I used nearly all of the sample, I probably have enough for one more wear, but Mugler are a bit mean with how much they give you. 1.2ml is not very much 🤷♀️ it was actually lovely to catch a whiff of in the drydown, I'm just not that excited by it. 🥰
I don't think this out for a few weeks outside of Europe, I'm not sure! Supra Florale was better than I was expecting actually but it really gave me Paradoxe vibes! 🥰
Thanks so much for reviewing this Mugler release! I would like to try a sample of this in the store when I have a chance. But I'm finding I have enough sweet fragrances, and I am very particular about woody scent notes. So I'm guessing this may not be for me. Given the citrus notes you described, I'm surprised they didn't go with a bottle design featuring jewel tones of purple and green. Apart from some of the rarer varieties of orange and pamplemousse, I don't usually associate citrus with ruby red. Have a lovely day, Claire. 🦋🧡🦋
Yes I agree, they could have made a really striking green purple marbled bottle and it would have fitted nicely with how this smells! I do think this is worth a sniff. It's closer than Goddess and I liked the drydown 🥰 and you! Have a fab week 🥰

Haha you called me out, because I was just sitting here thinking I would buy it just for the bottle, and you talked about that as I was thinking it😂 I think I might like it, because I do like fruity, a little sweet, but not heavy on floral. I do like Jasmine and bought a blooming jasmine plant just yesterday, for that heavenly fragrance. My one and only Mugler is Goddess, and I do love it. Maybe time for another, but I learned my lesson about blind buys, so will sample first. By the way, your skin is so beautiful! At 70 years old I notice things like that. Thank you for the review!
It is a stunning bottle for sure 😉 this seems to be a very different fragrance to Goddess, and also to the older style from Mugler, but it definitely does have jasmine prominently again like the older style flankers. Hi Claire! Ok so I’m totally late to this video but I’m currently binge watching some of your older ones and this one caught my attention. If you see this, I have a question for you. I recently got a sample of Hypersense and quite like the less dense, fresher jasmine in this as opposed to the original. I don’t want to pay retail for this (duh) and have recently found Alien EDT and Alien Fusion at reasonable prices; do either of these compare to Hypersense? Any advice would be welcome! Thanks so much ❤
Hi! I haven't tried the EDT for a few years and know that it's been reformulated because of the IFRA lilial regulation changes (2021?) so I am not sure how it's altered. I remember it just being a lighter, slightly fresher version of the original, very wearable and pleasant. I don't think I've tried it enough to compare with Hypersense, but my preference would be the EDT of the two, but that's only based on my taste.. Alien Fusion was made under Clarins and I am not sure whether it was reformulated by L'Oréal or just discontinued when they purchased the brand, I assume it was discontinued. I only tried it once in store back in 2020. I remember it being warm with the spices and having a feeling of the EDP. Again, of this and Hypersense, I would choose this as I think it's more interesting and more "Mugler", but it's definitely not a summer fragrance. I don't think my few tries of either of these is very reliable though as I've never owned samples. Sorry to not be able to help further. Thanks for watching 🥰

It's a shame that you're not over enamoured with this new Alien Claire but nice to think that L'Oreal may actually be listening to their customers. I tried the OG and it smelt dreadful on my skin (had to scrub it off) but on some people it's absolutely beautiful and I can see why it has such a devoted following💖
I think from what I've heard Alien has been reformulated yet again following the 2020 changes 🤷♀️ I can't keep up 🤣 This was nice in the drydown but unexciting...worth a free spritz in store though 😉

I've not tried that but as it's from 2008, I imagine it's nothing at all like it since L'Oréal have really changed the feeling of all of the flankers from the feel thst they used to have, they were always very solar feeling, I dont find this solar at all, also Luminiscente is compared with Catch Me, which I own, and that is much more citrussy than this and the white florals are much stronger. To me, this isn't citrussy, it's more non-descript pear hidden amongst a bit of synthetic sweet jumble in the opening and mid and more very soft sweet quiet L'Oréal style jasmine in the drydown. This is not a beast. If you want that amazing old style of Mugler fragrance, I would buy a vintage bottle if you can find one as you won't find that magic in these new ones sadly. @@danbro8452 it was by Cacharel, it's also formulated by Dominique Ropion. It's discontinued but findable sometimes on eBay. Quite rare now though. I used to have Womanity, I still have Aura and have samples of Innocent. They are lovely fragrances!
I may change my opinion once I actually try it. As a forever fan of Alien I don't think we needed this, they added fruits...how innovative! A fruity Alien 😑It may be probably for a younger target? I'm not super excited by the notes either....I don't know scent wise, the bottle is so eye catching tho! I feel so bored of all the new releases lately.

Well a midweek bonus, this is definetly a valentines treat for us all. That's interesting that it's the one you have the most of too. But yes they were one of the best brands. Goddess is definetly not a flanker unless that's old French for "shameless insulting poor generic cash grab" 🙄 of course that's possible 😂. Yes I'd have guessed this was a flanker of what they call "Alien" nowadays rather than the real fragrance. I guess this sounds quite pleasant, apart from the Paradoxe phase. Maybe for me the new ones should have kept the "Mirage" name as that's all they are now, being polite. Again yes it's good Ropion is back but he can only work with what he's given to use. I would suspect the ingredients that he was given in 2005 were like gold dust compared to the literal dust he has now. Mild like... Well I'll take that as a positive. Thanks for reviewing this one for us all. 🤔 A like? I'd be happy with not pure rage and full on hate like most of the recent ones invoke 😉🤣
I think that's it, I was just so over the moon that they had put jasmine in it and that it wasn't totally unrelated to Alien like Goddess was! I was also happy that the grainy musk didn't hang around and that it wasn't the same as twenty other fragrances and that I liked the drydown and that I didn't absolutely hate it 🤣 BUT, the point is, the drydown may be nice, but what exactly is that opening and what story are they trying to tell with this? I don't really get it... I don't feel like this was needed and sadly I know that most people will prefer the totally different unrelated to Alien fragrance that is Goddess... When you remember Alien Essence Absolue and then sniff this, I think the difference in invention and quality is stark. 🤷♀️

It's a shame that you're not over enamoured with this new Alien Claire but nice to think that L'Oreal may actually be listening to their customers. I tried the OG and it smelt dreadful on my skin (had to scrub it off) but on some people it's absolutely beautiful and I can see why it has such a devoted following💖
I think from what I've heard Alien has been reformulated yet again following the 2020 changes 🤷♀️ I can't keep up 🤣
This was nice in the drydown but unexciting...worth a free spritz in store though 😉

How does it compare to ALIEN LUMINESCENTE which was my favourite variation of Alien
I've not tried that but as it's from 2008, I imagine it's nothing at all like it since L'Oréal have really changed the feeling of all of the flankers from the feel thst they used to have, they were always very solar feeling, I dont find this solar at all, also Luminiscente is compared with Catch Me, which I own, and that is much more citrussy than this and the white florals are much stronger. To me, this isn't citrussy, it's more non-descript pear hidden amongst a bit of synthetic sweet jumble in the opening and mid and more very soft sweet quiet L'Oréal style jasmine in the drydown. This is not a beast. If you want that amazing old style of Mugler fragrance, I would buy a vintage bottle if you can find one as you won't find that magic in these new ones sadly. Angel not as much. I will get a sample of this new Hypersense, as I am struggling to imagine the 'pear' part of it mixed in. Thanks for your response, appreciate it.
@@danbro8452 it was by Cacharel, it's also formulated by Dominique Ropion. It's discontinued but findable sometimes on eBay. Quite rare now though. I used to have Womanity, I still have Aura and have samples of Innocent. They are lovely fragrances!

I may change my opinion once I actually try it. As a forever fan of Alien I don't think we needed this, they added fruits...how innovative! A fruity Alien 😑It may be probably for a younger target? I'm not super excited by the notes either....I don't know scent wise, the bottle is so eye catching tho! I feel so bored of all the new releases lately.

Yes I'd have guessed this was a flanker of what they call "Alien" nowadays rather than the real fragrance.
I guess this sounds quite pleasant, apart from the Paradoxe phase. Maybe for me the new ones should have kept the "Mirage" name as that's all they are now, being polite.
Again yes it's good Ropion is back but he can only work with what he's given to use. I would suspect the ingredients that he was given in 2005 were like gold dust compared to the literal dust he has now.

I think that's it, I was just so over the moon that they had put jasmine in it and that it wasn't totally unrelated to Alien like Goddess was! I was also happy that the grainy musk didn't hang around and that it wasn't the same as twenty other fragrances and that I liked the drydown and that I didn't absolutely hate it 🤣 BUT, the point is, the drydown may be nice, but what exactly is that opening and what story are they trying to tell with this? I don't really get it... I don't feel like this was needed and sadly I know that most people will prefer the totally different unrelated to Alien fragrance that is Goddess... When you remember Alien Essence Absolue and then sniff this, I think the difference in invention and quality is stark. 🤷♀️
