Can't give this guy enough likes, I've always used the tool or a socket when i was at the Ford dealership. Now I'm retired and forgot to give the tool its freedom in my tool collection.
I just wanted to thank this guy for this video. I'm replacing a power steering pump on a 2008 Ford Focus and got worried when I read about the Teflon seal on the pressure side hose and the special tool to install it. Of course, the factory Ford tool is very expensive and has to be ordered online. I found this video and was able to find a two pack of these Sharpie pens with this type of cap locally and was able to modify it like in the video and to easily install the seal.
THANK YOU !! Tried the 'warm and stretch' method first to no avail. Your method works PERFECTLY ! Also had the right size paint stick in the shop, so after second run to parts store I'm in bidness. GREAT VID !!!!
I love my fords. I’ve owned several over the years, but some things, like this Teflon seal design are completely bone-headed. I’ll also say that having replaced mine a few hours ago (using a 3/8” extension as an install tool that was really too big) I really wish I had seen this video first! Looked like it worked really well.

@@DaBossk it looks like a decent car, but all cars have hidden annoying faults. Even u.k fords have problems, we have the steering wheel on the wrong side ha ha :-D Yes all cars can send you loopy with there silly designs, Bmw's require you to sell your first born to buy there parts lol. Bmw = Break My Wallet :-D Please Try not to get stressed out, just take a break with your favourite drink. You will have your evil way with the nuisance part :-D

I just tried this on my mustang and it does work except I took it 1 step further and put a thin coat of Vaseline on the cap and it slide on took about 15 minutes to complete! Thanks dude good tip to know!
Think outside the box on what to use. I cut the spout off of a cheap Dollar General kids flower watering can. I made it tight enough to cover the threads, put a little transmission fluid on the spout piece, and slid the oring onto the fitting. And! The watering can is still usable because I only needed the end piece. That took messing up 3 orings to finally get it done. Ugh!

@@RichpinTv you are most welcome (it worked great for me too). I have a question and hope you might answer it for me. I am installing a new cordone p/s pump in my 2012 Taurus. The new pump came with a Teflon seal "and" a smaller rubber O-ring. I don't think the o-ring is for my pressure line because my line didn't look like it had one on it. The only seal was the Teflon seal which tore up taking the existing line off. Would you know if it is for the other end of the pressure line? I didn't have to take that end loose? Just wondering if you knew.
I am having trouble finding that part number sharpie pen. I think they re-designed it and made it thinner, but I am still looking for it. The one bit of info that would be helpful would be if you could use a micrometer and give us the ID of the cap where it goes over the threads so we can use that as a reference if we find other caps that might fit. @@RichpinTv went to walmart and they only had a 5 pack of smaller sharpie paint pens (smaller diameter)-- But I saw many other items with wide caps that might do the job also, which is why I was hoping for a measurement. I'm bought a few and they come up about 15mm. Hoping the cap you used is about 15. I found the Sharpie med white paint one avalible at Stapes but special order. Thanks again for writing back. best regards

Impressive and after cleaning up the cap you can snap it back on the marker that you "borrowed" it from practically none the worse for wear.

Worked perfect! I didn't have a file handy. Just shaved the plastic down with a utility knife.
