It only worked because they had the players who could realize the dream. I can count on one hand how many times Xavi was dispossessed in those years, not to mention his ability to pick out a pass. Iniesta dribbled and passed as well as Messi, Busquets' intelligence in CM was quiet and sure. And of course Messi on the pitch ---- he was the best dribbler, passer, and finisher in one. That's not even mentioning Eto'o, Henry, Alves, Puyol. I was blessed to have seen it in real time. We've been trying to replicate it ever since without success. It's because they had the players, the coach, and the drive.
No player has ever done it alone for an extended period of time. There have been tournament exceptions such as Maradona and Rossi but for the most part the superstar needs a solid team to win and keep winning.
Pep Gaurdiola is the most successful ngl.... Now in Man City he does the exact thing. He knows his boys , their strengths, their weakneses Wherever he goes that team becomes Lethal

your under a strong delusion to think that Endrick can put the performances messi put even at Endrick's age. Even without scoring u could see Messi was destined for greatness. Endrick has to score to be relevant in a game and he also needs Madrid PR
Messi wasnt the first false 9. The first was Hidegkuti Nandor from Hungary. Many second strikers learned from him to play between the lines. Then in 2007 it was Luciano Spalletti who adapted the false 9 to modern football. This time, Totti was the only striker but being a natural number 10 he played put of the natural zone, removing any reference to the opponent. That, combined with Perrotta (a specialist coming from behind to dangerous positions), Taddei and Mancini from the wings, made Roma really difficult to play against. Everyone remembers that Roma side for the 7-1 thing but I suggest you watch the first leg match. Ferguson had no clue how to deal with them. Scholes was expelled early and Roma wasted a lot of goals. Guardiola is an admirable coach but he is basically a synthetizer, not a creator per se
@@SombreroFlicks Guardiola has managed an incredibly difficult achievement as tactician: He has adapted many old tactics to modern football. Midfield box from WM, false 9 (Szebes/Spalletti), inverted fullbacks (Telé Santana-Junior), attacking stoppers and positional interchange (Gasperini) and many more. The guy is a monster. Shame that he won 2 Champions with such controversy and the other one because of Lukaku. His genius truly deserves more than that
bruh !! You can make the individual clips even shorter. 2 second in each clip is still a lot and I can almost enjoy the football. Now we can't have that can we?
Fake nine was actually a position Pep had back in Brescia with Roberto Baggio but he was way slower than Messi by that time so just applying a no 10 shirt puts Messi on that Maradona level kind of Argentina superstar..
Not quite true. Totti did it before in Italy back in 2006/2007 with Luciano Spalletti. He played as falso 9 because As Roma didn't have the money to get a proper striker so Spalletti figured out this solution. Totti who always played as a midfielder or eventually 2nd striker, played for his first time as a " false 9" and he ended up winning the Golden foot that year in Europe, as the best striker.

Hay jugadores que tienen compilados de su carrera entera con menos jugadas que este partido de Messi. Y no es que los demás sean malos. Este tipo está 10 escalones por encima del resto.
i remember that day, before trio MSN born..
That day they called fantastic 4 = Ronaldinho, eto'o, henry and messi..
Spalletti did it with Totti before.
The passes from messi 🥶🥶
Amytime barca has the ball they seem to take a 4-1-2-1-2 shape with Messi behind eto and henry
Pep Gaurdiola is the most successful ngl....
Now in Man City he does the exact thing.
He knows his boys , their strengths, their weakneses
Wherever he goes that team becomes Lethal
One of the key was Eto.
He loves to pull left and right.
So very often we see Messi and Henrey switching to the middle or even all the way to the other side
Eto'o was underrated because Messi and Dinho were the biggest stars.
The Xavi, Iniesta, Messi era was a pure tyranny.
Busquets too..
Tyranny of the majority

People that didn’t watch that Barca are the ones that put Kroos and Modrić on Xavi and Iniesta’s level
No wonder Spain won the world cup in 2010
That's when As a team, but as a club throughout heaven and earth Madrid is incomparable 🔥
This was before barca mastered peps tika taka. It looks raw here. Messi still looks a bit raw. The next season they became absolutely untouchable.
Messi last of the goat
Catalans destroying spaniards at his peak.❤💙
It wasnt the first time f9 emerged but it made it popular
Aun recuerdo ese partido como si hubiese sido ayer....
1:29 Mes-sketer 😂
Ventajas de tener a el mejor jugador de la historia
Messi has that much energy
Young Messi was a savage.
É assim que Dorival tem que usar o Endrick! O moleque é forte, rápido e habilidoso. É desperdício ele ficar perdido entre os zagueiros adversários.
your under a strong delusion to think that Endrick can put the performances messi put even at Endrick's age. Even without scoring u could see Messi was destined for greatness. Endrick has to score to be relevant in a game and he also needs Madrid PR
❤❤❤❤❤ 😢😢😢 those days
Lionel 👽 Messi
Energetic player ❤
Lassana Diarra still has nightmares about that game
Best player in the world ❤❤😊😊
The jersey is back i hope the form too
Real Domination
Shoutout to Cadillas any other keeper would have conceded 10 goals this match
Similar to Hellenio Herrera who took Catenaccio and made it formidable and fearful. Making a known tactic deadly is also admirable
@@SombreroFlicks Guardiola has managed an incredibly difficult achievement as tactician:
He has adapted many old tactics to modern football.
5:36 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Your best midfielder modric getting played in the mid by the false 9 shows who is the best..
Modric wasn't in Real Madrid in 2009, but Ramos, Cannavaro, Marcelo and Diarra all suffered.
Yep, you have to bring up Real Madrid to prove yourself.
bro makes cassilas looks like average goalkeeper
Casillas was definitely one of the biggest victims of the Messi Era.
Cause he is
Xavi in his prime was amazing too and only made Messi better
He's like a machine he keep coming he dont stop the pressure
False 9 started back in the 1950s, this is about how Messi performed in that role and against Real Madrid of all opponents!
This was tactics of playing round & round first later finding gaps at forward places.Issue remains how long can you hold ball.
