- I've restored a lovely looking 350E, and whilst she looks great on the outside, she's the opposite inside the motor 😭 However all is not lost, and a very nice 350 restoration has made up for the disappointment 😍
Andy I like all your Electrolux vacuum cleaners past and present especially these 2 the Electrolux 350 cylinder vacuum cleaner and the Electrolux 350E cylinder vacuum cleaner had they do take me back to my childhood days in the 80s
@@AaronDobb cheers, glad you like them 👍
It is really interesting to see that your 350 has black wheels, because originally the 770 watt version had green wheels with a black trim. My mum had one of the very, very last 350 cleaners, purchased in 1986 - it was from Rumberlows, and I'm inclined to think it was an exclusive line to them by this time, as nowhere else was selling it, and (as I now know) the 2010 replacement was already in production and on sale.
My mum's cleaner had a 900 watt motor, with black wheels, and not just black wheels, but the type that was used on many of the 2000 series where the front side of the wheel had a soft beveled edge around the circumference of it (even some of the early -if not all- 2010 models had the very flat wheels on them). The tool kit was exactly the same as that of the 350E.
Other than the theory of knocking out a few of these cleaners for Rumberlows as exclusives, I know for a fact the design continued long afterwards as exclusive models, notably the 1350E for Currys, and 349 (I am not sure who that was for), having already been made as exclusives for the Electricity Board (model 347) and Currys again (model 351).
@sdm3447 I bow totally to your knowledge my friend 😊 These models are "new" to me, in that odd never really learnt much about them previously, apart from knowing what they replaced, and I've now seen some 350's with green wheels, and some with black, but didn't realise the motors became more powerful. Maybe this one was an interim stage (or perhaps the original wheels were broken and had to be replaced... I wonder if it was through the service plan Electrolux always tried to push on the back page of their manuals 🤔😂)
@@andyElec If you search YT for "Vintage 1980's Electrolux Z350 Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner First Look" you will see the same cleaner my mother had. albeit the wheels on the one in the video are flat and not with the rounded edges I mentioned before...I do think the 900 watt 350 models are quite rare, although the Swedish Version with its matt stiplled plastic is probably rarer still. I suspect the wheels on your cleaner are as they were when new - it is not uncommon for colour-matched parts of appliances to be replaced with generic black or grey etc as production runs evolved.
My favorite device, just a pity it's missing a motor protection filter.
if you unscrew the cord stop you can move it down the cable a bit and re tighten it so it is not too near the plug then the cable will hang out more and you can then stand it on its end,
@ianwootton8371 ah thanks Ian, that's a great idea! 🙏 I will sort that today, makes total sense 😊 I'm not the sharpest tool in the box sometimes 🤦♂️😂
Think I prefer the green colour on these but I can never forgive it for getting rid of the 312 😂
@David-uf8ex I knew when I was doing this that it might not be popular, I was thinking "Dave won't be happy" 🤣 When I realised the 350E motor was shot, I did think to myself it was karma for taking 312's place 😂
@ 😂😂
Have you cleaned the fan and the inside of the fan casing? If the fan vanes are caked then it will be out of balance. It might be the cause of the noise on your 350E
@willanstee881 well these are a pain as you can't get to the fans as the bottom part of the motor doesn't come apart, I cleaned the baffle as best as I could, and also the lover fans with a screwdriver but some of this plaster is caked on, so looks like it's there forever 🤦♂️ Hopefully a cleaner motor will turn up in future 🤞
