Tonight the PS22 Chorus had the privilege of opening Sinead O'Connor's concert at The Highline Ballroom in Manhattan! After seeing the kids' incredible rendition of her song "Jackie" we posted on UA-cam a couple of months back, Sinead had blogged and tweeted about her wish to somehow meet up with PS22. Her manager Fachtna contacted me soon after, asking if we would open the show! Of course there was no way we could turn down this incredible invitation!
The kids put on a spectacular show for an absolutely brilliant audience! But this was the definitive highlight of the night, when Sinead O'Connor surprised us and came onstage to join the kids on their rendition of "Jackie!"
Sinead elected to take a backseat and let the kids do their thing, which is further testament to how truly gracious a performer and person she is. Particularly proud of Briana for nailing the solo in what would surely be a high pressure situation for ANY singer! She sounds absolutely beautiful! And big props to our Daniel-san for his always amazing performance on the drums, and Mr. Eberle on the guitar!

Sinéad is a great human being. She deserves a lot of respect for basically sacrificing her career to expose wrongdoings in the church. She was ahead of her time.

amazing how she let the kids be in the spotlight, she first headed for the back row until the MC brought her closer. She made no attempt to over shadow the kids. She was/is amazing.
That was so amazing and such a heartwarming performance! All those kids are in their 20s. I wonder if any of them remember this very special day and once in a million experience. The kids are adorable and i love the teacher too, they are all so lucky!

That was so wonderul! I love that Sinead just sang in the chorus with them. I had forgotten how much I loved "The Lion and the Cobra" album. Thanks, PS22, for reminding me! I just downloaded it on iTunes.

I've loved the PS22 stuff for a minute... (I'm so old skool) but was shocked to find PS22 singing my favorite Sinead song with her! Please keep it going. I grew up an outsider listening to outsider music that deserves a platform, especially with young ppl. Thank you thank you thank you.

I know how that feels I’m a part of that Sinead help me deal with my depression. She helped me deal with my pain my anger my hurt that I felt when Dolores die she saved my life. If it wasn’t for her I probably don’t know what I would be doing, because I was really sad really depressed when Dolores died Sinead saved me and she became my poetry teacher and she taught me through poetry and through her songs how to heal from that pain. I’m so grateful that she is my poetry teacher. I’m so grateful I had her music because it helped me through a lot after Dolores died, and she helped me through her own death still to this day me and her together as one we write poetry by as her student and she has my teacher.
