    I have been following a whole food plant based diet since 2021. I lost 60 lbs easily without exercise. I started resistance training 2 months ago and am now addicted to it. I'm building muscle faster than I thought I could. I feel like a teenager at 71 years old. I agree with your advice and want others to know that exercise in a fasting state significantly results in more fat loss as well. Thanks Gary from another Gary.

      Your getting the benefits of the new stimulus of strength training. Nice work!

      Gary, this is absolutely incredible! Losing 60 lbs without exercise is a remarkable achievement in itself, but taking the initiative to embrace resistance training and experiencing such fantastic results at 71 years old is truly commendable.
      Keep up the fantastic work, Gary! Your story is proof that age is just a number, and it's never too late to prioritize our health and well-being. You're an inspiration to many, and your journey serves as a reminder that positive changes are within reach for anyone willing to take that first step.

      its not the plant based diet its because you now consume less calories than you burn there is no magic in any diet. I am 51 and been strength training for 38 years, when ever my calories exceed i gain fat.

      Congratulations on your 30 pound loss! At the end of the day it's all about creating a calorie deficit and staying consistent. Make sure you are getting your vitamins and minerals through supplements if you're not eating veggies to prevent any deficiencies. @@raymonkravagna278

    Amen Gary! I personally have gotten the best results from Strength training walking and eating foods that only contain 1 ingredient. I eat as much of it as I want but just 1 ingredient. I may cheat once every 2 weeks and get a pizza or something. Once you stop eating crap it gets easier to stay away from it. I have tried HIT and it spikes my appetite too much. If I don't satisfy that hunger my muscles tend to go flat.

    • @WalkerFitMuscle
      @WalkerFitMuscle  10 місяців тому +2

      Absolutely, Amen to that! It's truly inspiring to hear about your journey with strength training, walking, and embracing whole foods. Your commitment to simplicity in your diet, focusing on single-ingredient foods, is a powerful approach. The occasional indulgence, like a pizza every two weeks, adds that perfect balance and keeps things enjoyable.
      Your experience echoes a fundamental truth - once you break free from the grip of unhealthy eating habits, it becomes easier to maintain a nutritious lifestyle. It's fantastic that you've found what works best for you, and your dedication to staying away from processed junk is a testament to your strength and determination. Keep up the great work, John!

    Dr. Fung, M.D. states that a 'calorie deficit' type od diet will cause our bodies to go into a starvation mode resulting in our metabolism slowing down. He also has the research to back this up, lots of research going back many many decades. The only effective means to keep our metabolism up and even make it speed up even more is to fast. He's very impressive with his non-technical talks about fasting and the over all benefits of fasting to maintain weight control.

    In terms of sustainability, for most people, all dieting has been proven to be sustainable for approximatley one year or less, and then the body plateaus due to the metabolic adaptation of the body by slowing down the metabolism. This has been proven time and time again.

      It’s not about “dieting “, it’s a matter of eating healthy and whole foods that are nutrient dense. If you make a habit of this and stop eating processed foods then there’s no need to ever go on a “diet “.

    its not rocket science lifting weights will build muscle mass, this will make losing weight a lot easier, the rest is basic calorie in calorie out no magic in that either.
