"Carrying hot" or "loaded" is a valid method mostly in bad areas of town. Sometimes it comes down to seconds when your are trying to defend your life. Also the passenger did a 10/10 job presenting him self as a non threat, he complied with the officer and verbally indicated about the gun in his pocket.

    • @dazey856

Yeah I was going to say depending on where this was, there are some places where it is very valid to have one in chamber loaded, you never know someone with road rage might try to pull up on you especially in bad areas, in other areas it’s just a power thing and not really a real valid reason

The mentality is: if you are going to carry a weapon for self defence, it’s pointless to have that weapon unprepared to protect you. A knife in your backpack doesn’t help you, a gun with an empty chamber won’t fire. There are 4 main rules to gun safety and one is to act as if it is loaded at all times, you may as well have it loaded.

I always carry a revolver or Glock and I think there is a reason the cops carry Glocks (you don’t have to think about the safety) because the adrenaline spike really messes with you. I was almost in a shootout and I can’t even explain the effects of adrenaline properly, I’d never felt anything like it. Luckily I didn’t get shot or have to shoot in the end but the adrenaline had me shaking.

the question you have at 8:09 ish, it really is just up to the person. you will have some say that it takes too much time in a high stress self-defense situation to chamber a round before the threat can harm/kill you first, and you will have some say that keeping a round chambered is too dangerous to ones self or those directly around you in said high stress situation due to lack of trigger discipline or a mistake in the unholstering process. but anywhere you can legally carry, it is up to the person carrying.

The UA-cam channel ASP (active self protection) has a good video on this where he covers the death of a Brazilian i believe security guard. That video is the reason i carry loaded now. The guard had been jumped by a couple of guys in a mall, and one of them was pouting a gun at him. The guard pulls his own gun, but instead of shooting back, he pulls the slide on his pistol, which alerts the criminal who then shoots him in the head, killing him. The worst part is that in the video you see a round eject from the guards pistol, showing the gun was already loaded. Loading his gun instead of shooting first resulted in his death.

I carry because I am disabled. It's a 380. and I carry it unchambered(the magazine still has roughly 8 bullets, but there isn't one loaded into the chamber, ready to fire, but I have debated whether to carry chambered), and with the safety on. I can't physically defend myself, or run(hell, I can barely walk), so I find it necessary to defend myself however I can. I have been targeted before(once at the bus stop, and multiple times if I am alone in a store), and was lucky, but I may not always be lucky. So I carry, to take responsibility for my own safety. But it isn't a bad/wrong idea to carry chambered, as if you are in a situation that requires you to defend your life, adrenaline could very well prevent you from chambering it properly. It just takes a split second to lose your life.

You asked about the reason for the passenger to be carrying a gun, so allow me to enlighten you. He said he was going to pick up a car. If he was buying something from Craigslist or Fakebook Marketplace, he made the right choice. You never know who you are dealing with, and you are likely carrying a large amount of cash. Protect yourself! I buy and sell motorcycles, and I don't take risks when meeting people I don't know with lots of cash on my person. Because of the dangers that bad pits can do ( like causing injuries to the cop, the suspect and bystanders), most states limit the use to people who are specifically trained and certified to be able to do it and only if they are given permission to based on things like speed, weather and traffic conditions

Gun owner here in the states. It is legal to own and conceal (with a conceal carry license) in some states (not all). The point of keeping it loaded is to protect yourself (and others) in an immediate situation that would put your life (or theirs) in danger (example: active mass shooter, someone charging at you with a knife, etc.).
But that guy had the unfortunate situation of willingly getting in the vehicle with a psychopath. Complying the way he did gives him his best shot of disassociating himself out of that situiation. Plus if he has a conceal license, he seems like a law abiding gun owner. Most criminals would just skip that and go straight for the illegal weapons on the black market.
Or he could also be with the guy on the Marijuana situation. Regardless, the cops did good in stopping that situation.

Im not offended at the question, but most likely they are either in an open or counsel carry state or that man has a license that allows him to carry around that gun. Most likely he is going to a populated area where he does not trust that he will be the only one there with a weapon on him. And the fact that its.loaded is because loading time is time that's not affordable in mpst situations where someone else needs to be apprehended, at that point you have a gun just for bluffing, and its always better to have a bullet and bluff rather than bluff without a bullet. Its all speculative, but these situations are a sad reality in america.

Police never carry guns around with no ammo inside. It's just kind of a silly question to ask, Pegasus.. The whole purpose of a firearm is to have quick access to protection once you switch the safety off. Chances are you're gonna die or get mangled if there's an immediate threat and you need time to reload your weapon because you didn't beforehand.

  • @computersales

Having a unloaded locked up firearm is like keeping an empty fire extinguisher in your attic. If you aren't going to have it somewhere ready to use in an emergency why have it at all.

If you’re carrying, the gun should always be loaded. Otherwise why carry it if a threat is present? You can always ask your assailant to let you rack your gun first, and if they refuse you’re done.

The way I see it is if you're gonna open carry then the gun should be prepared, safety on, cocked or not. An unloaded gun is just a brick with a trigger, which is not very ideal for self defense.

That said, from having watched a lot of cop encounters too, a lot of people just don't understand or pretend to obey just to try some ninja stuff later (it often fails).
These guys have already demonstrated disrepect for lawful orders and safety regulations. Benefit of the doubt is out the window.

I carry with one in the tube. No it's not stupid. It's stupid to have to fumble around trying to rack the slide in an emergency. You still wear your seatbelt, but don't expect to get into an accident. I don't have a safety, don't need one, since it stays in its kydex holster, and only comes out for training or cleaning.

  • @Imppyman09
    @Imppyman09 5 місяців тому +1

I'm pretty sure that if you have a gun on you, you should NEVER keep the gun unloaded. if you ever have to have a gun, your intent is that it should be loaded at all times but at least on the safety lock. you never bring an unloaded gun into a situation where you're meant to be ready to use it (god forbid you should have to use it.) in fact one of the rules for owning a gun is that you only point it at things you intend to kill. so if you're going to have to use the gun and point it at something, expect it to be loaded because otherwise, you don't use it or you'll enver get the chance to because you'll probably get shot before you can even load your gun

you carry the gun loaded with one in the chamber because if you carry it empty then you might not have the extra hand in a lethal encounter to chamber a round and in a life or death situation your fine motor skills are the first to go when you get an adrenaline dump and that makes it really hard to grab the slide and pull it back. when seconds count you might not have the extra time to load your gun

Regarding your question about the basis for how things are dismissed, more than likely it is a plea deal and those happened to be the ones dismissed for the deal. I imagine good behavior after getting stopped may have helped. I am not an attorney though and my guess just comes from watching many lawyer react videos so if someone contradicts me they are more likely the correct one.

For the why you would carry a gun around in your pocket question. You never know who or what your going to run into now a days and if a situation were to ever arise I don’t want to be thinking damn… wish I had my gun that’s at home right now, I would rather have it and be prepared for any type of situation. It’s always better to be over prepared compared to the alternative. Personally I don’t trust people at all or even like people usually so it’s sort of a comfort if you could call it that, just knowing if I ever end up in a situation I’ll be prepared. People say this kind of stuff never happens and that this is stupid or they don’t understand it but the reality is just because you don’t see all of the messed up things around you doesn’t mean their not there.

that cop was too angry an yelling, they where all things considered super cooperative, especially with the passenger there was very little he could have done, and was not the one evading the police, and honestly yelling like he was wouldn't be considered in any realm a de-escalation tactic. In fact the way he was yelling at people who where trying to cooperate would make the situation more intense, worse and he was contradicting himself, like put the phone down then when he does he screams at him saying don't move. That cop is unjustifiably going to shoot someone some day if he keeps up that energy. if you listen to the way the other cop is talking to them, is a proper way to deal with someone. Even a criminal turns out if you talk to people calmly they'e usually a lot more cooperative. Like they where lucky that they where calmer than that cop because if they matched his energy i honestly think he would have shot someone

  • @braydensurvivez

Carrying with one in the chamber is a pretty common and reasonable thing concealed carries do. Without a round chamber into the gun it would complicate the situation in a self defense scenario from a one step prep to a 2 step prep. It’s a small change but makes a big difference in high stakes scenario. Obviously though off person there needs to be a level of discipline. Not storing it as such in access to kids, or unloading the mag but not dechambering the round etc. A very important piece of info people who aren’t around gun need to know is if a round is chambered removing the mag will not Dechamber the round and the weapon is hot. I over the years have built a habit assessing the safety, chamber etc the second I pick up a fire arm or are presented one.

Five carry conditions, 0 through 4. Condition 0 being, loaded magazine, round in the camber, safety off. This is the last condition before bulling the trigger. This condition is the last before pulling the trigger. Condition 1, is a standard carry position being the same as condition 0 with the exception being the safety is on. The standard carry position is condition 1 with the exception of the Israeli which choose condition 3, that being an empty camber. This is a choice based on a training mindset in Israel. The United States tends to focus on maintaining that all weapons are considered loaded and reading to engage. Gunfights are often decided in microseconds and the time spent chambering a round can often be the difference between life and death. I hope this helps, if only a bit.
