Honestly, I'm an almost 30yr old that has been playing Age of Empires off and on since my teens. I never lured boars until I started watching T90 videos and learned how important they are. Still don't know build orders that well though but I don't play online so its no skin off my back lol.
There are useful buildorder learning mods, should check them out and learn 1 atleast. I'm a fan on the archer rush build order, fairly easy to pull off in a regular map, while learning it I made a word document which I would have open on my 2nd monitor while playing, collor coded and everything, really helps. Just in case it might help I'll paste it down below: 6 sheep 4 wood 1 boar 4 berries (make 2 houses with the first) Use boar vil for second boar 2 boar Boar vil to farm 5 wood Loom Up to feudal 2 from food to wood and 3 to gold Baracks while going up UPON FEUDAL: 2 archery ranges, double bit axe Vils to gold till 8 total Blacksmith as soon as archery ranges are up and learn fletching Horse collar 1 wood Till 18 on farms Wheelbarrow Click castle
@@krystofcisar469 old as fuck comment but I used that build with a few civs and got good results. Mostly played 2v2 only where it was very helpful to slow enemy down. Done only a couple of 1v1 games (I think 1 or 2 max) and there a guy was crying that I was smurfing, while using this build spamming archers against his skirmishers and micro'ing them to great effect.
Imagine if resign didn't exist and they have to fight until their last unit is alive. We would see 80 offensive mills and tri-houses by red and 15 castles in the pit by blue. At 5th hour maybe they would have all the upgrades and be pop capped.
Of course you pick Byzantines. My 10 year old me counted the amount of techs and realized that Byzantines had most and Mongols had least so I always played Byzantines vs Mongols (or Persians to convert the elephants).
I love that no matter the level of play, it can produce very exciting games. These guys were giving it all and the winner must have felt like a true champion.
I’m not as low elo as these 2 however I tend to have similar struggles when it comes to managing military and eco after hitting castle age, just too many things to do at once. Nice to know it’s a universal predicament lol.

Basically what I learned from this is to make barracks and archer range early if I’m not going to be aggressive so at least I can produce some defensive trash to fend off attacks and raids.
If I get one of my long term friends to play online I'd totally send it in. In her first game vs the AI, she turned her farms into a checkered board and deleted her mill because it was in the way of her symmetry. It was hysterical. We want her to play Khmer so that's viable.
I feel like red might have developed the trihouse-strategy after accidentally walling in too many villagers. There's no way to do that if you only ever build your houses in sets of three.
I used to determine if I could play another game of Age based on if I definitely had an hour to play it. My theory was that the only games I ever won took atleast an hour to play so if I didnt have that time what was the point. It took too long for it to dawn on me that i could just learn how to rush 😂

My god the amount of eco red had that he did nothing with. Could have literally built like 150 skirmishers and just swarmed blue but did nothing instead, lol. That was the most painful game to watch.

The tri-house system makes total sense: it's dense, but still comfortable, as each house still remains unobstructed on 75% of its perimeter, so the residents get plenty of sunlight.
I don’t really play age that often, but that trick of putting units on attack stance near the building, instead of attacking the building directly, sounds great. I’ll probably use it on my next match against the moderate AI 😆
if it takes 10 petards to destroy a castle, why not doing it? it would mean 200 gold (and 650 food) to destroy a 650 stone castle, which might be a decent trade and in difference to the treb, its even faster
Who needs house walls when you have fortified stone walls and the pyramid house looks great. Those lumberjacks on the right side was super well trained at the end. Military is ment to die so make suiside troops and just ware the castle down. I loved that red won couse he played the game as its ment to be played just needs some polishing off the rough edges :) Blue has been watching too many Whong recordings and lost accordingly.

I played AOE2 before UA-cam was a thing. Boars were not on the list of things to attack. They hit back.

T90 has such deadpan sarcasm that I worry that one time I will fail to pick it up and make some really bad game decisions as a consequence.
I always take my boars and eat one sheep at a time, but I'm really bad about deer. I usually remember to dock/fishing ships.
