    Hey Kat,
I'm a front-end developer struggling to get my foot in the door. It's been more than a year now, and I keep seeing companies list entry-level positions that require 2+ years of experience. I'm still learning React and Angular, and it's so rare to find a company looking for a junior developer.
Based on the data, it feels almost impossible to get a job without at least 3 years of experience. Even OfferZen has set a minimum requirement of 1 year, regardless of the role or qualifications. I've seen people on Reddit going back to school to advance their careers or switching fields entirely. It seems extremely rare these days for a self-taught developer to get hired without prior experience.
Are those days over? Am I too late to the party?😟

You can create your own experience by building websites/ web apps for your friends, parents, family business, local gym/restaurant/church etc. Don't worry about getting them to pay you (although it would be great if they did). Just build for the experience. You can even register a company and make give yourself the developer job title.

@TerriTerriHotSauce gave a great advice. You not late to the party, there're still companies hiring for junior roles. They just want to make sure they won't waste their time and money so they require 1+ years of experience to filter out the people who don't.
But don't let that scare you, apply regardless. You'll end up getting the job on a contract (Or freelance) basis where they'll test your capabilities while paying you and if you do good you'll get the job.

my advice is that you should make unique projects. Everyone makes to do lists and landing pages.

I'm interested in joining a startup.

Yes I once worked on contact basis for startup. It can be hectic because they don't have a lot of developers or employees in general. So you'll end up doing a lot of work.
