I've definitely wanted to see this, too. Thanks for posting. Part of the play was completely left out.

What a treat this is. Sinatra in great voice and Paul Newman and Eva Marie Saint....Live TV of the 50’s was THE best..I really enjoyed this, thanks...

Wonderful to finally see this classic production! I can only imagine what it must have been like to see it live and in beautiful color in 1955!

Thank you for this; I have not seen this since I saw it when it was first broadcast. I was fourteen and into Presley but soon discovered Frank. It was the golden age of television but of course we didn't know it then.
I just discovered this site and I am thrilled. I never saw Elvis live but have seen Sinatra three times.

Glad to have you on board. I posted a few more varying television broadcasts of Frank from the same period if you are interested. You will find tons of great stuff on this site, especially about Frank if you know where to look. Pleasure to have you on board, and hope you enjoy your stay!

Thanks. This is great, as I mop up the tears.
My dad was a big Sinatra fan and I'm pretty sure we watched this except I was only 4 years old.
Of course I'm a Sinatra fan too and saw him perform 3 times so I know all the great songs. (Wiki says this was the first Jimmy & Sammy collaboration, plus Riddle too!!)
Of course this is a vhs of a kinescope.
Is this a job for AI restoration? Will we see a 3D color IMax version in a few years.
    whatever "Goodbye world"

Bing Crosby maybe would have been more the type for the Stage Manager but Sinatra is great!--and the show is fantastic.

I could definitely see this actually as Bing and Frank tended to work well together. Having him direct Frank on this televised version of the play would've been a great watch. Glad you liked it nonetheless and I appreciate your comment!

@@TheSinatraCollection Well thank you for digging them up for us. I'm enjoying so much more Sinatra.
Honestly, I wonder what Sinatra would think of 2022. The technology, the celebrities, the world leaders, fashion, and dare-I-say the Rap.

@@carltrotter7622 No problem! I am pretty sure he'd be ecstatic with how far technology has progressed that no matter what recording of his exists whether it be audio, video, or audio and video. He at the end of it all wanted to be celebrated and remembered as one the greatest singers of the 20th century. As his great quote goes, "May you live to be 100 and may the last voice you hear be mine."

      @@TheSinatraCollection I remember that quote!
I believe it was from one of the live audio recordings of a performance and it was intended as a joke.

@@carltrotter7622 More or less was a joke. But deep down, I think he really meant it. He was only proud of his singing and nothing really else. Despite his amazing acting abilities, he always humbled himself down to just being a "singer."

As much as I like to see the footage "Our Town" as a musical simply doesn't work and loses almost all of the gravitas. This production also includes far too much set which defeats the point of the play.

While I love all the participants (including Frank Sinatra), Sinatra crooning as the Stage Manager completely ruins any chance of engaging in the play for me. I mean, come on: "Love and Marriage" in the middle of the second act? I have never heard of this production, although I have seen many (and been in a few) - but I think I can see why it is so unknown. Too bad - a straight production with Paul Newman and Eva Marie Saint would have been great to see... I don't think I could have gotten past Frank as the stage manager, even if he didn't sing - and actually, I like him as an actor.
