    I started a main bus system this week. It helped me get so much done. However, mine is way sloppier than yours. I've learned a lot with how I don't want to do things so far. Your video has given me even more inspiration to keep working on it. I think once I get this last milestone out of the way with the space elevator, I will be ripping it out and making it better.
    Thanks for sharing the video. I really enjoyed seeing this style of factory. Also that tip on stacking the buildings and moving over two is going to be so helpful.

    200 hrs into my first playthrough, I finally found your video. Let me say it's just a brilliant, brilliant consept - and so elegant! I gave it a try for producing Modular Engines and Adaptive Control Units out of the seven ingredients I already have loads of in my storage. My storage containers are in a long straight line, so I just brought the right items up to the roof with conveyor lifts, then set up a seven-high conveyor stack and set some manyfacturers to work. Boy oh boy, it's so nice and easy!
    The only minor drawback (and not of your design by itself) is that sometimes the splitters just won't attach to the conveyor belts properly - nothing comes out. I've noticed it before, don't know if it's a bug or just me though.
    So a BIG thanks to you. I've now watched also your other videos. You do so beautiful builds and give me inspiration!

    I have done this early on, it was my favorite set up. I LOVE to see all the workings of the factories. I would add catwalks with one side glassed in and the other solid. I did all this without mods, pure vanilla, and that is really time consuming. But, this game is about "time" and I do not get hung up on building as fast as possible, I enjoy the process. Thanks for showing this bus off... I thought I was the only one that liked this kind of factory! Cheers.

    Looked great in videos but now to see full explanation and haw much it can scale up is crazy. That megafactory with two stacked busses on sides neatly grouped by machine output is great and looks awesome(only problem building it is all math to decide how much of what to build for how many belts, for me anyway, to have similar item belts nearby).
    I got stacked bus in a full circle around my 'small' megabase with each item overflowing into box and then sink as I found that neat and compact, but what you showed is even better!
    I just got idea to use this for nuclear fuel production(might be deadly), but I did not see you use pipes so who knows how feaseable it will be once implemented. You might make similar video explaining your mixed(pipes+belts) logistics, if you use one efficient system as well.

    A simple way to get perfect space between machine and splitter, is to put a splitter down in front of belt splitter, then place first machine against that splitter. Then remove that splitter. Now you have perfect connection for all lifts.

    The belts can be made more compact vertically, but it would take more care setting up, be a TON of clipping and you wouldn't be able to see very well all the parts whizzing by. It's possible to stack 9 belts to a height of 4 meters so long as you don't mind extreme clipping.

    👍👍👍 Good to see a detailed explanation of your bus system, including all of the nitty-gritty details. Maybe I will also do a configurable factory at some point. But I want to optimize ressources utilization, which means no sinking. Any thoughts on this?

    • @StinArchi
      @StinArchi  2 роки тому +1

      Well I guess the obvious would be to only produce the exact items you need per min - but I know your an excellent builder and know that already :)
      I guess another option would be to have on-demand production, for example, where I showed the large bus system on the megafactory - all the machines directly feed onto the bus, with no overflow possible - and only when the items are called off from the bus, will the constructors and assemblers start producing. So no waste, no sink needed.
      Some kind of variation like that may be the most practical on a large scale, but probably easier ways on smaller scales.
      Also that setup will be a bit trickier if you're transporting items around by train/drone/truck, but still possible.
      Thanks my man 👍

  • @vanivari359
    @vanivari359 2 роки тому +1

    Im using a giant "U" shaped vertical bus - one side inserts the items to the bus (at the beginning), then they are smart-splitted into my warehouse/sink and the final side is used to get items from the bus to the machines for production. The machines are in the middle of the U and the produced items are added back to the bus on the insert-side. The beginning of the U is connected to my train stations and drone ports for input, the end to output.
    This system is super modular and extensible - if i need more throughput, i add a second third lane to the bus, if i need more machines, i add a floor. And sometimes i change the purpose of a floor by just switching the connection to the bus.
    The disadvantage is the size and the time to build it because you move a lot of items very far. And it's not great for hight throughput items (e.g. quickwire) and it's hard to track, how much items you extract along the bus to the different floors. And i have now a 40 belts high bus - it gets high.

    • @StinArchi
      @StinArchi  2 роки тому +1

      Yes they can get a bit harder to manage if you have really large buses. Every system has its pros and cons - But your setup sounds good mate 👍

    • @mhx47
      @mhx47 2 роки тому

      Signs, use them to keep track how much you insert and extract for each belt. This way when you need to change something, you do not have to fly all over to find oit, how many items you move around.

    This is really cool! And I have never thought about something this useful with bus lines. However, there is no load balancing? Everything you make is through manifolds?

    • @StinArchi
      @StinArchi  2 роки тому

      I did cover on a vid on some load balancing ideas, and ratio balancing...or maybe you are referring to the standard splitter/mergers to load balance? Anyway in either case - I personally think its not worth the hassle/extra time and space. Adding loads more splitters/mergers to this vertical bus system would take away from the point of it being compact and relatively simple, and to be honest, has very little benefit - in my opinion. The end result is exactly the same, with much less hassle.
      I understand some like it, and why not, each has different styles. I just dont really see a need for load balancing in this particular vertical bus setup. There are other scenarios where it could certainly be useful, and I've used balancing (my particular version, bit different than the standard load balancing ) a few times, and you can check out the vids on it.
      Cheers mate, appreciate it 👍

  • @abbefromru
    @abbefromru 9 місяців тому

    It is hard to control the specific amount of resources you get from this sort of bus. The line is quickly goes to nothing. And if you add more you never know how much exactly to put into the line. It must be overloaded by the resource you need and yet the last unit in line could not get enough. Well, you can calculate it but it's much harder than direct connection.

    Hi, thank you for this video.
    I do have a question : how do you choose which item is supposed to be on the top conveyors ?
    I understood the bottom one is the sushi conveyor which provides all the items, but where do you manage the machines' outputs in the other conveyors ?
    Thanks !

    • @StinArchi
      @StinArchi  Рік тому

      It's up to you which belts you want to use for which items, it doesn't matter to be honest.
      You feed the conveyor bus system (any belt, doesnt matter) with the resources requried by the machines, and those resources will depend on what recipes/production you're doing. This is more suited to larger/multiple production chains in one compact area. Not really necessary/overkill for small/simple production.
      I suggested using the bottom belt for the merged output of all the machines connected to the bus, to share back to all the other machines that may need those items - and all the other belts you can just feed a single resource, to keep it simple (unless you're confident to use mixed betls).
      But how you configure it really is up to you, and depends on what you're producing of course.
      If it helps, try starting with the most used/fastest moving items on the bottom, and work up to the top with the least used/slower moving items.
      Cheers Olivier

    i do have few questions.
    as that you need to keep in mind that the max belt 780, so never go above the output that required to feed the machines? you said you can go endles with but i gues endles has a end if you go above the 780, were for you have add a new belt?
    also what about on the end of the line, to have loop back to the start? so that if the transport is'nt on time it just does 1 more loop befor sink it?
    and i see you using tier 5 belts on main middle line, do the belts or transportlift have to be tier 5? or can it be done be tier 1? if you know that the machine ask for resources below the 60 per min?
    i always place tier 1 belt if i know that machine as belor the required intake of goods, then just fill it as fast as needed?

      You can use any belt speed for the bus system - but I'd recommended to use the fastest belt you have unlocked.
      If you need more than 780, you can just add another belt as I mentioned in video. For example, I had 2 mk5 780 belts for silica. And I could add a 3rd belt if necessary. On the large megafactory for some items I had 4/5 mk5 belts for some items.
      The loop wouldn't work as it will keep looping and build up and eventually clog/stop the belt, even if there is only a tiny excess. As there is no way to indicate to an item to only overflow/loop back just once. Unless you're talking about looping it back to another different belt on the vertical bus, which then overflows to a sink/somewhere else (and the first one didn't) - you could do that, but its not necessary.
      If, for example, some of your machines attached to the bus need 100 screws per min, if you feed that bus with at least 100 screws per min, it will be ok and no reason to loop back - unless you are having those screws brought in by transport with a long journey/delay between each delivery. In which case you can use 1 belt on the bus for screws with no overflow, which would fix problem. As screws have nowhere to go when on the bus, and will wait on bus til called off. But you may need to play around with buffer containers at start of bus/after train station etc.
      For the same screw scenario - If you want an overflow, use a buffer container after train/before bus with a mk2 (120) items per min coming off, to slow down the flow so that it would hopefully last until transport arrives again.
      There are other many ways to work around it, but it really depends on your requirements and this is getting too long :)
      Bascially i'd suggest to just use 1 item per belt. No mixed belts/no overflow at end of bus - so you don't need to worry about transport not on time/too long etc. And if you need, add buffer containers at start to unload from train/truck and feed bus.
      The conveyor belt/lifts that are coming off the main bus should be the same speed as the bus - otherwise sometimes it won't catch the items if the items are in quick succession after eachother - again this is mainly an issue when using mixed belts, or an overflow at the end. Otherwise if no overflow at end and no mixed belts - doesnt matter what speed lifts you use. because the items have nowhere else to go and will just sit there on bus and wait til called off, so even mk1 lifts would be fine.
      But if you're using an overflow at end, or mixed belts - If you use mk5 belts on bus, but mk1 lifts coming off to feed machines - if the items being called off are in quick sucession, because the mk5 is moving so much faster than mk1 - sometimes it can't pick off the items it needs quick enough, if the items it wants are in quick succession after eachother. So in that scenario use same speed belts/lifts.
      I haven't done any kind of bus system for fluids yet
      Cheers Jaco 👍

      @@StinArchi How do you handle things that require blenders? Make them here and send them off to the blender? Create them on-site at the blender? Asking because I adore this setup but can't figure out the best way to proceed to Fused Frames, Batteries, etc.

    • @StinArchi
      @StinArchi  Рік тому +1

      @@nocontent4487 You can use blenders with this, if you put a bit more space inbetween the machines and the vertical bus, you can add pipes to the bus with the pipe support things. And with the 'horizontal to vertical' pipe setting, they can connect quite nicely.
      But adding pipes to it will def make things tricker, especially if its a significant sized production you got going on, and there is by-product liquids to bring back round to share again.
      End of the day there is no right or wrong way... definitely possible to add pipes to this kind of bus system, but sometimes it is just easier/simpler to keep blenders/refineries separate.
      Good luck with it mate

      Yea I wouldn't suggest doing a large version of this until you have hoverpack (or flying ofc).
      I did a video on my first ever factory where i had a tiny version of this, 3,4 5 belts max high. Not even jetpack. Its ok for small versions, but yea definitely not for larger setups without a hoverpack. Unless your really patient, unlike me.

      Not sure what you mean exactly - do you mean up and down off from the vertical conveyor bus onto the machines? if yes - conveyor lifts. This takes the goods up and down. Which you should see various examples in the video.
