An exact copy can be made of each CD onto CDR in about 3 minutes. Put the box on the shelf and then just play the copies. This is especially appropriate for your car cd player. @Beatle Dave I did the same with the Stones mono set a few years back. I knew what it was, but it was about affordability. The covers are a bit shoddy, but the cds all sound fine
Hi Dave! I just subscribed. Being born in 1955, I `just` recall the rise of the Beatles. Fun times! I love playing my Beatles Vinyl LPs and singles. I prefer any pressings pre 1974. Why? Because when the oil price was tripled in 74, UK record companies had to use substitute materials and LPs became thinner and less durable. I have in my collection a fairly early "Please Please Me" album - It is the pressing with no year on the label, no `Recording first published 1963` blurb. It has marks and a couple of light scratch marks-but plays fantastic! Vinyl is thick and durable. That's why I prefer the earlier editions.
I bought a Chinise bootleg CD " Sgt. Peppers," The first time there was no pause between " Sgt. Pepper and With a little help..," sound was perfect, and they wrote " Made in Japan!" . Now i have 10." Sgt.Peppers," 6 .vinyl and 3.CD' s and 1. cassette. One CD is Russian bootleg, half mono/ half stereo so no need to change the disc. It's not necessary to be bad, they know how to make them, even if they sound good, not always. Nice video Dave, cheers. P.S.hope you didn' t pay much.😎
Hi Beatles Dave - nice detailed video. I agree with you & thought exactly the same way when I bought my 2 fake Beatles Mono Boxes about a year or more ago(purchased at different times). I knew what I was buying- I’m also on a budget & some items you have to compromise on. I did my research on the Mono Box fakes pros & cons and Bought a sealed one, unfortunately I got buyers remorse. Packaging was pretty much just as you showed in your video(I didn’t notice if mine were made in Japan on the discs)including the goodies. Sound quality was great until I played the Help disc, I can’t remember if it was the mono or stereo tracks but one or two of the songs (I don’t recall which ones) had a static background noise during most of the song. Right then I had to return it, I could live with packaging being off kilter but not erroneous noise during playback! Fortunately I was able to return the Mono Box & got my money back around $100. I still wanted the Beatles In Mono so after that I purchased another fake not sealed for less money hoping the audio noise was just on that previous box set. Lo & behold on the Help disc there was noise again on a couple of the same tracks! All the cd’s packaging/ goodies / plastic inner sleeves all fine except for Help disc issue. Luckily I resold that box & didn’t take a money loss on it. So all this proved to me is it wasn’t my stereo receiver or CD player at fault, it was the quality control of the fake set. I don’t know if some of the other cd’s had audio problems cause after the Help disc going wrong twice, I didn’t even want to play anymore of the cd’s on the sets. At this point I’m just going to wait until I can pickup an original Mono Box at a reasonable price lol. If it wasn’t for the Audio issue I would have kept the counterfeit box for sure. I know the Beatles 2009 Stereo Box has fakes out there too, I don’t know if there are audio issues on that Box set?

Be happy with it. In the US, outside of major artists the record labels sell us cd-r's especially if you like jazz (Blue note, Prestige, Riverside, Pablo, Concord, Fantasy). There's a family of labels from Spain that put out gray market cds (yes actually cds) and have even more pictures and write-ups. I actually value the gray market discs, which are legal due to expired copyright in EU, more than the cd-r's and nobody in reviews ever complains about the sound. Jordi Pujol has done more for jazz in the last 20 years than Concord records has who acquired the entire Fantasy label 15 years ago which also included Stax post 1968.

I pre ordered my copy of this set from HMV back in '09 and your set looks scarily like the official box that I got, and if I remember I paid less than £200 for it. But the sound is superb, ripped them all onto my PC and are also on my I-pod. Don't play them all that often, but may give them a spin now I have my new desktop cd system in my study...
I have the original box set. I bought it immediately when it came out in 2009. The first thing that tipped me off that this was a fake was the font on "In mono". The font is exactly the same as the words The Beatles. Also each C.D. came in a cellophane envelope. Yes, you're right about all the inner sleeves. All of them were reproductions of the original EMI inner sleeves, and Sgt. Pepper had the pink "Psychedelic" inner sleeve. Also the original booklet is stapled in the middle and not glued together. And most are "Flip back" covers, as well. Also I think Help came with bonus tracks. I'd have to look, but I believe, if i'm' right about the bonus tracks, it was the ORIGINAL 1965 STEREO MIX of Help. (For some reason EMI changed the stereo mix later on.) Anyway, fake, or not, it looks like you got a good box, and if the sound quality is good, then you can't really complain. Happy listening.😊
Well, it does look like you got a box LOL. So, let's see what you got mate!!! You are so right it is VERRY $$$$ here as well!!!! I got this box set but I discovered that it was fake a few weeks after I purchased it. I am very impressed with the sound on. I threw away the bags. I love collecting the Digi packs in the charity shops.
Hi Dave, for £35 you've got yourself a bargain if as you say they sound great because after all, its not about the packaging its the music that is important. I do have a real one but I got it years ago so didnt pay anything like what it costs these days - if I remember rightly something around the £200 mark. A couple of obvious difference that I noticed was on the original all the CDS come in resealable selothane covers . Magical mystery Tour has the book attached to the sleeve like the LP does. Also check your Help disc. this should also have the original 1965 stereo mix like Rubber Soul does . I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to include stereo mix on a mono box set but there you go. Doesn't really make sense to me. Maybe I will do a video showing mine soon and the you can see if you can spot any other differences but like I say , doesn't really matter as long as the music sounds great. Enjoyed the video mate, and its great that you have this and are happy with it as that's what its all about. Keep 'em coming buddy.
They put the original stereo mixes of Rubber Soul and Help! on the discs as a collectors thing. The original cds of Rubber Soul and Help were remixes. These Remixes were even used on the 2009 stereo cds. The only way you could get the original 60"s stereo mixes of Rubber Soul and Help was on the mono discs box set.
@@sirarmysuit1789 Yeah I get that but what I don't get is why include these on the mono CD, it doesn't makes sense. if they were going to give us the original 1965 stereo mix as a kind of bonus, surely they would have been better placed on the CDs in the stereo box. That's all I meant.
@@beatleytonesbeatleschannel I understand what you're saying but the idea behind the Mono box was aimed at the bigger more obsessive fan who had to have the original mixes. The general buyer is only going to be interested in the music generally so they would just buy the stereo box or separate stereo releases. The original mixes of Rubber Soul and Help were put on as a sweetener for the more obsessive fan who wants the original mixes. A general public buyer of the beatles is not going to be bothered really. This is why the Mono box was produced in limited quantities.

I wouldn’t mind a good sounding boxset in mono as well. I wonder where one would order that. Hmm. I also am curious how much it is in “inflated US dollars😜. That is really awesome. A Japanese boot probably is as good as you could get maybe. Great work, Sir.
It's a counterfeit, just cuz it says made in Japan doesn't mean it was made in japan. It was probably made in China, and they simply bootleg the made in Japan labels. I'm sure they've gotten much better though with the quality of the bootlegs. I bought one many years ago and the whole thing was falling apart within weeks of buying it. Luckily though I was able to buy a real mono box set before it was 300 - 500 pounds or dollars
I managed to get a perfect original mono box set from Ebay about 6 months ago for under just under £200. The seller is a major Beatles dealer and the set was acquired as part payment from one of his buyers. Because of the low price most shoppers were rightly sceptical about its authenticity. It is a genuine pressing right down to the weight. The fake boxes are lighter. All the originals have flap backs. I have a few Russian fakes from around 2009. Tell tale signs are dodgy print on the Japanese inserts and no Toshiba codes on the CDs themselves. One of them ,Pink Floyd's Animals, has aged particular poorly and the colour on the sleeve has gone very weird. But then they were a quarter of the price of Japanese originals at the time. You get what you pay for.
I had a bootleg version too but gifted it away as I'm looking at collecting the LPs from the 14 set... I "may" add the official CD set at some time later down the road. You're right Dave... the price is certainly more reasonable on the knock-offs. 😊

WOW. I think you are def right. how many times you will really use a cd that cost you 300-500? Paying 35 for that box its ABSOLUTELY worth it mate. So i think you make a really smart buy mate. can i ask where do you buy it? probably i will buy one for me. cheers from spain!
Thank you so much for your comments, very much appreciated, I got this box set off eBay, think there's still a few on there, played all the CDs and they all sound really good, some of the covers aren't that good, but for what I paid, I'm quite happy with them, cheers, Dave
How can you live with yourself duping multi-millionaire McCartney out of his royalties........... Or maybe Lennon would ask how do you sleep at night? Only joking, my friend; I think you've got an excellent buy there and I honestly don't know how EMI can possibly justify charging premium prices for historical material that must have already paid for itself hundreds of thousands times over. Perhaps if they charged more realistic, affordable prices for the originals these bootlegs wouldn't proliferate. Before anyone tries the "well bootleggers don't pay royalties so that's why they're so cheap" argument a lot of this stuff is already out of EEC copyright restriction and, perhaps, if McCartney et al would accept a reduced rate they'd be better off with a reduced percentage of affordable product rather than zero percent on pirates but, of course, they want to have their cake and eat it. Apparently they're happy to accept the pennies paid by streaming services but still insist on full rates for hard copies. Where's the logic there? Also the "loosing sales" to pirates mantra doesn't stack up too well when you consider they're aimed at very different markets; many people couldn't (or wouldn't) pay the horrendous asking prices for "legitimate" copies so, by definition, they haven't lost any sales when people who opt for the bootleg option. I have no sympathy for counterfeiters trying to pass off their products as originals but when, as in this case, consumers are aware of exactly what they're buying, I say more power to their elbows. I wonder if I can source a bootleg "Robin Hood" soundtrack? '0)
They should be giving this stuff away for Free these days EMI and Old man McCartney have certainly broke the bank on this old stuff Let Em Be is my Mantra

The seller didn't say it was fake, bit also didn't make out it was original, it's ok for what I paid for it, but I must admit it sounds really good, cheers, Dave
WOW. I think you are def right. how many times you will really use a cd that cost you 300-500? Paying 35 for that box its ABSOLUTELY worth it mate. So i think you make a really smart buy mate. can i ask where do you buy it? probably i will buy one for me. cheers from spain!
Thank you so much for your comments, very much appreciated, I got this box set off eBay, think there's still a few on there, played all the CDs and they all sound really good, some of the covers aren't that good, but for what I paid, I'm quite happy with them, cheers, Dave
amazing mate! if any day you are interested in sell it let me know! i will buy it 100% cheers mate!!

Even on ebay these days this bootleg is selling for £150 £200 quid it cost me £35 on a ebay bid 11 years ago
I would be unhappy with the fakes...🍁
I did know what i was buy, to be honest it sounds okay and will do me until i get the official set, cheers, Dave
Same here.
What is a flip back cover you mean digipak ??
@@bobf.5538 no, a flip back cover is like the original 1960s UK albums 🤗
@beatledavetherecordcollector still have no idea what you mean. The hard cd cases ?
@@bobf.5538 it's a replica of the original UK LP vinyl issues from the 1960s
@@beatledavetherecordcollector still don't get what that means. .is that British word or slang. Flip back cover. I'm lost
If the sound quality is great, I couldn't care less about the sloppy packaging, for £35!
Mines better than this Dave, yours really looks fake, and mine is fake too.
@@alfching2499 yes I know mine is fake, but I knew that when I brought it, and basically just to show what is out there,?, the sound quality is actually very good and I only paid around £30 for it😊
@@beatledavetherecordcollector likewise Dave mines the same sound wise, put it this way they definitely sound better than a new Giles Martin mix,I wouldn't have he's stuff for Free. But at 77 if you havnt got all the Originals then you wernt there ,all the Best Dave
