when you level up in this way you can either: (a) take one of your own skills and any one of the advanced actions from the offer or (b) one of the skills from the common area and the bottom-most advanced action from the offer. Hope this helps ! bye, Rick
That is actually a good question/point. I was wondering the same thing, too. I found in the rule book on page 5 under Discarding and Throwing Away. If the effect says to Discard, you may not discard a wound card unless the effect explicitly says you can. If the effects says to Throw Away a card, you may use a wound card and place it back into the Wound pile.
I think you could have used the basic attack of your Red Cape Monks to defeat the Ultem Mage (although it didn't matter since you had a red mana available). You had fire attack 7 with the spell (5) and your skill (2) which reduces the armour to 1. The Ultem Mage is resistant to physical attack, so you needed 2 physical attack to finish it. The basic attack of the The Red Cape Monks (3) was more than enough. Correct?
That is correct. Your unit can only be assigned damage once per combat (from 1 enemy), but if it remains unwounded you can still use it in the attack step (assuming it is also unspent).
very nice video , I learned a lot plus you slowly and clearly explained everything. it made feel like I was watching an episode of Mr Rogers, witch was awesome ;D
I am confused as to why you MUST take the bottom card of the advanced actions offer when you level up. I thought when you leveled up you could choose any of the cards in the advanced actions offer.
Rick, as usual. you are the shit. Thank you so much for all your help. You have assisted so much to make this game so enjoyable. Thanks so much for evrything. I saw your comment about a possible FAQ on PvP combat, can't wait to see that if you make it!
Hi, it was a good question, but it was played fine, although this is a question which has vome up before and answered before. The confusion the distinction between mana and mana dice. Some cards ask for a mana die of a basic colour from the source, but Crystallize only asks for a mana of a basic colour, and yes, this can be represented by a gold mana die, as this is what gold mana die are for, nothing else. I hope this helps! Rick
I think I agree with you on this. However, the game play would not have changed as the crystalize advanced action allows you to take a crystal of the color of you choice (and THAT can be powered by gold mana) .
yes, you can use gold mana dice to represent a mana of a basic colour. That is precisely what gold mana dice do. I hope this helps with you games ! bye, Rick
This means your solo conquest was "unsuccessful", though you can still tally up your points and see how you did. It's a little strange in this sense since it's then theoretically possible to "lose" but get more points than you did in another game that you "won", but since it's solo anyway this is really all about what you want to get out of the game.
I am confused as to why you MUST take the bottom card of the advanced actions offer when you level up. I thought when you leveled up you could choose any of the cards in the advanced actions offer. Can any1 awnser this? thx :)
Anyone able to clear up my question? The ancient ruin toke with the two monster tokens to fight and what appears to be a gold and silver unit card as your reward. How does that reward get claimed? Do you pick a unit from the offer or do you take the top card from the gold and silver deck and choose?
nope, the rules specifically say you can't discard or throw away wound cards in your hand UNLESS the card specifically says so (otherwise wounds would be no big deal, you can just keep throwing them away, they'll never slow you down).
Also another question on ancient ruins. When you see the one where you fight two monsters then you see your reward is what looks like a gold/silver unit pic. Does that mean u draw one card from elite deck ad one from the silver back deck and pick? Or do you pick a unit from the unit offer as your reward?
After reading through my comment and the rules again, I am wondering if it was intended that the statement in the rules saying that the card must specifically state you can discard a wound card only if the effect says you can applies to Throwing Away, too. It would make sense that it should.
Would you still refresh the two advanced actions in the unit offer if one of the two monasteries was burnt down? Or just one because there is only one now "up"? Thanks! love your videos, I want to watch every playlist! haha
Also, if a card like crystallize asks you to pay a mana of basic color but you've already used a mana die from the source for your turn and have no mana crystals in your inventory, are you allowed to pay with an extra mana die from the source? And is it removed from the source for the rest of the turn? Thanks again!
John Teer You cannot use any extra mana dice from the source unless a card explicitly says so, so in this case you couldn't use crystallize. And yes, when you take a die from the source it is only rerolled and added back to the source at the end of the turn.
So when you rolled 3 gold mana die in the source would you have to reroll one so that at least half show a basic color, or does it not matter since they are all gold, or is that rule just for the setup at the beginning of the game? Great job with this series! You've been a tremendous help in learning this awesome game properly.
Another amazing video (changed my user name from spikyfitness). I believe this is correct, but if you have a unit with say physical resistance and you assign an attack equal to its armor which causes it to absorb the damage and they don't take a wound, their ability can still be used in the attack phase right? They just cant absorb an attack from another enemy if your fighting multiple enemies at the same time.
i believe you have not to take a wound when you retired back from the unconquered city.because you start from a safe space. You must take a wound when you come from space like lakes or mountains for special effects.
when you level up in this way you can either: (a) take one of your own skills and any one of the advanced actions from the offer or (b) one of the skills from the common area and the bottom-most advanced action from the offer. Hope this helps ! bye, Rick
I'm confused as well about the note saying that he must take the last advanced action card.
That clears it all up. Enjoyed the Robison Crusoe series as well. Great job! Thanks again for your help

Rick Jolly That is correct - this would have worked too :) Nice spot.

Great series! I have to say, getting In Need with a fist full of wounds and 2 Catapults in the offe was

I am glad you clarified that for me, Rick. I did not know that rule. I am still very much of a novice at the game although I love it.

Using 1 Mana of a Basic Color for Crystalize I thought meant either Red, Green, Blue or White. Was Gold able to be used in this situation? 11:25

This is from way, way back...but when you assaulted the second time, you didn't block the mage's attack...
no, I chose not to. You don;t have to block, and can take the damage instead (I took 2 wounds).
Would you still refresh the two advanced actions in the unit offer if one of the two monasteries was burnt down? Or just one because there is only one now "up"?

only one. Good question!
Can't wait for the next videos ;)
Me too... was spoiled with the daily updates before. =)
When it says '' discard a card from your hands '' ( eg: magic talent ) you can't use wound cards ?
nice catch with 18 influence :)
Also, if a card like crystallize asks you to pay a mana of basic color but you've already used a mana die from the source for your turn and have no mana crystals in your inventory, are you allowed to pay with an extra mana die from the source? John Teer it's just for the start of each round, when you roll to initialise the day/night board.

If you run out of day/night tactics and you haven't defeated all the cities, does this mean end of game? excellent game vids, keep them coming :)

how can you have 3 gold dice in the source ? the rule is not that you cannot have more half for gold/black dice and have to reroll other dices ?
that rule only applies to the roll at the start of a round.
Congrats on your 20,000 total.
