    lyrics:
    amanda:
    your seven hundredth bedroom
    the waiter brings the bill
you came here dressed for battle
    you knew damn well.
    the sharpening of axes
the fat man rings a bell…
    jasmine:
    don’t touch me
    i’m not here to help
    amanda
    he’ll smother what he captures…
    jasmine: move over
    amanda:
    you know damn well.
    every door behind you closing…
    jasmine:
    you’re a very lucky girl…
    amanda:
    every velvet rope that opens…
    jasmine:
    every time the robe unfurls.
    amanda:
you came here with a wish-list…
    jasmine: move over
    amanda:
you came with bows and bells…
jasmine: i’m not here to have
    amanda:
you came here armed for action…
    you knew the drill.
    jasmine:
move over before i shelve myself
i’m not here to help you.
    amanda:
    every man behind the curtain
    jasmine:
    jerking knobs and smoking guns
    amanda & jasmine:
shut your eyes pay no attention
just keep calm and carry on
    black or blue, you choose
    you’re free to be inbetween
    play or lose
    you say
it’s not what you meant to mean
    black or blue
    you mean
what? you’ve got to be kidding.
    just turn me over
    jasmine:
    fast
    and
    let’s get this over with
    let’s get this over with
    amanda:
    let’s get this over with
    jasmine:
    let’s get this over with.
    amanda:
you crouch down in the bathroom…
jasmine: our time is at a loss
    amanda:
    the mirror makes you sick…
    jasmine:
    won’t have you in me
    amanda:
    you hear him channel surfing…
    jasmine:
won’t have you near me…not at any cost
    amanda:
    you knew this script.
    jasmine:
    run now, girl, run.
amanda: your shirt is on the table…
jasmine: run now girl, toss back the covers…lay your buttons on the ground
amanda: your skirt is on the floor…
jasmine: i dare you not to lay back down, your fetish on the floor
amanda: you did what anybody would…
jasmine: bless me with the strategy to chip away your smell
    walk
    the nightmare out the door
    amanda:
    every version has two endings
    jasmine:
    every night the penny drops
    amanda & jasmine:
    open casket, open casting
this is where the story stops
    jasmine:
i storm out through the hallway
    i leave the scars inside
    you won’t portray my picture
    this film is mine
    amanda:
    every door that closes opens
    jasmine:
you may cut this lucky girl
    amanda
    say you’ve got
    a lot of nerve
walking in here on your own
    so come and get it
    you deserve it
everybody wants to rule the world
    jasmine:
    say you want me
    say you’ll haunt me
    say you’re angry
    say you’re honest
    say you’re honest
    say you’re sorry
    say you’re sorry
    amanda & jasmine:
    black or blue
    you choose
    you’re free to be inbetween
    play or lose
    you say
it’s still not what you meant to mean
    black or blue
    you mean
    what?
    you can’t be serious
    don’t you dare forget
    jasmine:
that i’m the one writing this
    i’m the one writing this
    amanda:
    and this never happened.
jasmine: i’m the one writing this.
    amanda:
    this never happened.
    jasmine
    i’m the one writing this.

It's Thursday 24th May 2018 at approximately 1:23pm and I've just listened to this for the first time. My heart is beating hard and faster than what would be considered as 'regular' and I can just see through blurry tearfilled eyes the letters on my phone's keyboard in order to type this.
Amanda and Jasmine, thank you. It's not surprising to me that Amanda has yet again produced such a powerful piece of music and again I can relate to yet another story that this incredible woman is telling. I've been in a fair few toxic long term relationships, the last being almost 3 years in which I was subject to every form of abuse and yesterday I received the news that there would be no justice, that he got away with every cruel thing he ever did to me and other people. Today I'm trying hard to pick my life up and I'll never fully heal from all that happened but I'm no longer his subject.

Art, great Artists, can crack open a person to their most vulnerable and raw core. It brings things to the light that have been hidden, buried and chained away behind barricades of solid lead and steel, carefully constructed emotional walls.
Great Art can bulldoze all that down, make the self erupt like a projectile volcano of spewing memory lava...
This has ripped me raw with the shredding talons of Eagles and the enormous claws of prehistoric beings and great bears, to the essence of my soul and spirit. This has flayed me open to the core.
THIS is Art that proves our greatest strength is our vulnerability, our courage to be pummeled by the storm. The will, the hope to rebuild with less wall and more humanness.
    I am deeply moved.
Amanda and Jasmine have created Great Art. Giant Art. Soul searing Art.
Thank you. So much thank you.

I've only listened to this song now for the first time even though it's been out for 2 days because i knew what I would feel and I needed to prepare myself. And I'm not disappointed nor am I really surprised that I'm now sitting in my bed in tears and with goosebumps all over my body and soul.
I was raped when I was a tiny child and later on in my teenage years. This resonates so badly. It hurts. But it hurts so good. Thank you Amanda, and thank you Jasmine. Thank you so much

Jen Kohls as a victim of sexual assault myself, I feel left out. Granted I don’t subscribe to the “victim” label either. Despite being told by friends and family that I most definitely am. That said, it’s true; this song is both beautiful and moving.

Right, we don't have to be victims. It could happen to anyone female or male. Not that u need my sympathies but i am sorry for whatever may have happend. I know that I've become a whole hell of a lot stronger because of those incidents where i felt powerless. As i grew i made damn sure i would never feel that way again! I wish u the very best my friend. Take care.

If it’s minor I will make it uncomfortable.
If it’s serious I make known to all so they cannot hide. .
And If it’s dangerous I make it stop.
This my promise as man. Misogyny is a male problem, it’s long past time we all took responsibility for fixing it.

I was purposely blind to a now good friend and business partners abuse at the hands of her narcissistic husband for the first year I worked there. She finally took the kids and got away after I finally asked about it. I’ve held down the business for two years with him trying to drive me away while she’s worked up the courage to finally divorce his sorry ass.
I’m testifying in family court/divorce court coming up. Growing up I saw my grandmother treated like my friend got treated (my dad is an amazing man who broke the cycle of abuse an treated my mother and I so well) I thought grandpa was a one off.
To all the brave ladies out there, you’re a rockstar and you’re so worth being appreciated. Please don’t ever let a partner make you feel less. Great song hits close to home.

Cried a bit.. that was so emotion-filled. Things like this make me not want to be a man just so I wouldn't be in the same group as scumbags like that. I hate that women have every right to be suspicious of men's behavior because it really sucks for the women to have to be that paranoid, and it sucks for the men who aren't like that. It's bullshit - I'm glad it's getting outed so that it can get ended.

I am 30 years old, and sexual abuse will continue to haunt me the rest of my life. I can't escape it. It first started when I was very young, two male family members, lasted until I was a teenager. Then my kids' "dad", that lasted 5 years before I escaped. Then a man at work just months ago. I can't escape it. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, surely this has to be something I am doing for this to keep happening. When will it end?

The music is very gripping. (A lot like Tori Amos' "under the pink".) Even when reading the lyrics I have to admit the meaning is very, very vague to me. Maybe I don't get it because I have no clue what's on the news these days? I've stopped looking/watching/hearing it many years ago. This might be a result of having no TV, no radio and reading no newspapers ...

Onsemeliot look up the #MeToo movement. Basically, a dude called Weinstein worked in hollywood and would sexually assault/exploit women. That plus the revelation that tonnes of men in Hollywood have sexually assaulted/exploited women triggered a movement of mostly women sharing their abuse/rape/assault stories (Terry Crews also shared his story, but it was largely women for obvious reasons). Add that to the thing with Donald Trump and Stormy Daniels, a sex worker he tried to pay into silence a few years ago, Bill Cosby being convicted of rape and so many other stories and that's basically a bad explanation of what has happened.

Thank you for the summary. I roughly figured so much. The lyrics are still somewhat vague. But I guess it wasn't their intention to write a scientific paper ... so everything is fine concerning the song.

I can appreciate the message but the whole double voice thing didn't sound that great to me.

I agree for the beginning of the song. I'm a HUGE fan of AFP, but this song is hard to listen to for me. It gets better later in the song.
