Been binging a lot of Starcraft 2 content since I recently picked up the game to start playing. Having a massive amount of fun but have a hard time overcoming the intimidation factor of ladder play (campaign and Melee vs. AI is where I love being right now, lol). Completely stumbled across your channel -- this is the first video -- and really enjoyed it. Informative and helpful to know what your build order is. Also, seeing the very few hotkeys you utilize makes me realize maybe I don't need to have a lot of hotkeys. Keep up the great work! Looking forward to seeing more of your content. +1 Sub!
You found a great channel to watch! He actually has a guide from bronze league all the way to the top tier if you're interested on his channel! Highly recommend!
This is exactly what I needed, thanks master ! And I just realized : after an abduct, you don't even need to tell your roach/hydras to focus the abducted tank ? They will do it automatically ? I was so amazed when I saw that you could just focus on viper control...
Whenever your units attack, they attack the closest target (after probably killing off their actual focus which is lightning fast in most situations). Hence the reason the tank is pretty much insta killed
Yes, units acquire the closest target until it becomes invalid. Units become invalid when they die, cloak, leave vision range*, enter stasis or vanish into a transport unit. (Overlord, Nydus, Medivac, Command Center, Warp Prism) However, the reason why yoinked targets die so fast is slightly different. Usually, only part of an army is actually within firing range of something. As such, when there's suddenly a new target close to your army, all the units without an already acquired target will shoot that new target, which usually leads to instant death, unless you reeled in a big catch, like a Battlecruiser, Carrier, or Mothership, which should go down shortly after. * It depends. Stationary units like buildings and sieged units can't chase, so they reacquire targets as soon as the previous one leaves their attack range. Also, units whose attacks can only hit ground or air exclusively will reacquire targets if the previous target switches to air or ground respectively.
Ravagers fill the same role as hydras, where they are a longer range, back line unit. The problem with ravagers is that they can't attack vikings/BCs as well as hydras can, and hydras have better dps overall unless you get amazing biles.
Hey Neuro, thanks for the guide, beautiful as always. One question though - I've read here and there that carapace upgrade is irrelevant vs mech, since it deals a ton of damage in single shots. Instead people recommend going ranged and melee, so you can try ling/bane runbys as well - would you agree with that standpoint or carapace is actually important here?
With this style, I'd agree. You're not looking for a frontal engagement unless you know you can crush the mech army, which means the match already heavily leans in your favor. Generally, styles which focus on counter-attacks prefer attack upgrades to deal more damage until the defender responds with units. When engaging with Vipers, attack upgrades means you'll need less units to reach the critical mass to oneshot other units. You're looking to take as little damage as possible while picking off high value targets. If the enemy can't replace those units fast enough because production is slow, you should notice the army size dwindling pretty soon. If the enemy can't replace those units fast enough and/or relies on more mineral-heavy units, their income can't keep up and your chances of winning are pretty good if you patiently whittle them down. If the enemy looks like they're replacing those units just fine (for now), deny their expansions while building and expanding your own economy advantage. At some point, their economy won't be able to meet their demands anymore. If you can secure your economy lead without trading too terribly, it'll become more and more of an uphill battle for the Terran over time. If you can't break through a turtle Terran, adding a Swarm Host squad may be useful. This puts them on a timer because they'll keep receiving damage until they deal with them.
most of the time I get rushed or proxy or pushed with some sort of aggression. @ 350 roach warren I would be dead. The queens can be an o.k. early defense, but its a thin defense, maybe with a few static defenses it would work, but it would slow the build down.
Do you offer coaching still? I'm stuck in D2/D1 (for years with some time off in between) and really want to get M3/M2. It's been a goal of mine for a very long time and just can't seem to stay consistent enough to break through. I have friends that say I'm good enough to be in M3 for sure, but obviously I'm not there...it has been a real mental hurdle for me. In ZvT I primarily play LBH with Vipers, but I prefer to play RHV in all matchups. If you could help me at all that would be greatly appreciated. Have a good day man.
Can roach hydra work vs drop heavy bio in a mostly even game? I know if you massively out macro or out play them anything can work. But is it viable against drop heavy bio as well in most cases?
Roach tank and Hydra does damage, some scuadrons on main and a couple outer expas anihilate 1-2 medevacs drops. Not optimal tho; its slow. Priority on double ups versus double ups, marines not that good versus roaches tankin for hydra. Viper works miracles alongside the good ol' hydra roach.
@@ahuzel thanks man. How exactly would you utilize the vipers vs bio medivac with no tanks? Para bomb the medivacs? Blind the marines? asking because changing up my composition at my level, plat 2, tends to screw me up. If I have to focus too much on scouting it throws my whole build off and I fall behind. I'm just not fast enough to do both well. So I'm trying to simplify my play as much as practicable. Switching between ling bane and roach hydra depending on what I scout is tough for me.
@@Gohgoroth Since you are not that fast, maybe casters are not for you, yet. Still, parasitic on medevacs is good,, without enough healing the stim is very risky. Yeah blinding can be used in the bio; he must retreat a little to avoid the area of the spell, since bio units are small many can be afected by two three cluods. That zoning is useful for securing retreats, secure a kill on an orbital, render useless a planetary fortress, at least for a few seconds. Work hard on your speed. @@ambigioz You're probably still attacking up a ramp or into a choke. You wanna come sideways at them in an open field ideally, but since thats a rare occurance you can pick one most of the time. tanks dont move out well and if they've already moved out you can flank them which reduces splash and give vipers better abduct targets.
