  • This is the most interesting thing I’ve listened to since watching the 4 hour documentary Runnin Down A Dream. I learned so much about Tom in this interview and I hope you all enjoy. As you know due to copyright claims I unfortunately had to remove the songs. At least All Rest will be coming out soon and we won’t have to wait much longer :-)

Adria shortchanged herself a bit here by saying she isn’t sure what her Dad would want or how he would sequence the songs. Maybe so but her sweet spirit is a lot like his sweet side we have heard about and he shared some very intimate, musical things with her while writing. I feel Adria was a part of Tom’s soul......she’s that close. I loved this conversation and Rick Rubin’s contribution to this is amazing as well. Talk about a deep guy....I can’t wait to get this album. Thank you Rick and thank you Adria and others who worked on this project. You have given another beautiful gift to the world. This may be my favorite record of all-time. And you have made it better. Love, hugs, and prayers to all of you as you heal and move forward. And thanks to the person that posted this. Beautiful stuff!

Insightful and interesting conversation. Adria is as well-spoken and forthright as her father. Many thanks for allowing us to glean another side of Tom and the creative process that brought all of us so much joy. Thank you Rick and Adria.

This is an amazing conversation between Adria Petty and Rick Rubin. Adria is so well versed about her father’s music and the making of her dad, and such an eloquent speaker. It’s obvious she was very close to her dad and he shared so much with her.

What a great conversation about life and living- as best we can and growing. TP not only created great music, he and his wife raised a great daughter, an extremely aware human being! I saw the Mojo tour at the Hollywood Bowl. I gifted myself a ticket for my 50th.... It was an awesome night of music. What I was struck by was zero- "production extras"- such as set changes, costumes, themes, dance moves, etc. It was just THE MUSIC- which was so soul fulfilling. There was no need for all the other- Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers filled up every ounce of air with beautiful music. Thank you for that memory.

37:39 not to put a negative spin on it but Tom was right he’s telling you everything before hand then “Yes you do” is absolutely right tag line. I’m not sure what Rick Rubin was talking about the context is in the 3 lines or so before. End of a small rant.

Well. Rick wasn’t Tom … and vice versa… have you ever had an idea of something SO cool that it absolutely give you total joy and you don’t sleep for the rest of the night because it’s the greatest thing you’ve ever thought of? Are you share it was a really good friend. And you say to them, “what do you think? And they say, “oh it’s OK.” . And you feel like what?! And you realize that even a good friend, or a producer, or relative just doesn’t see things the same way that you do. But you still 👍🏾❤️ But at that second you wanna thump ‘em on the head? Well…that’s pretty much how life goes forward - So you just go with the flow. You take what you need and give the rest away. Peace

It was weird, growing up. My fathers mother died? (Grandma?). Mom never mentioned, casually? This girl gets lots attention and Im not at all sure she’s so warm and charming
    As presented.
