      Right?! Plus she mentioned how much she exfoliates and I’m like noooooooo that’s the worst thing to do omg get a heavy duty moisturizer or a night time mask 😭

    • @klashstar7
      @klashstar7 4 роки тому +19

      @@Axb2774 gently exfoliating weekly is definitely important. Then, use a heavy moisturizer. It's hard for the moisturizer to do its job when there's a layer of dry, dead skin in the way.

    • @Axb2774
      @Axb2774 4 роки тому +5

      T weekly physical exfoliation is harmful to the skin. Towel drying, shaving, scrubs, and facial brushes can all create microscopic tears on the skin’s surface and cannot physically heal in one week- leaving an open “wound” for bacteria, dirt, sebum, and other pollutants to enter the skin an cause inflammation, infection, and premature signs of aging. Dead skin can be removed with a gentle cleanser using clean hands and patting dry with a clean cotton cloth. Moisturizer will have no problem penetrating the skin then :)

    • @klashstar7
      @klashstar7 4 роки тому +8

      @@Axb2774 your skin has a natural exfoliation process... It's slows down over time. Where are you learning that exfoliation is bad? There are some vehicles that are more harmful than others I'm sure. But using a physical exfoliant that's gentle enough for the skin on your face/chest or a chemical exfoliant, I can assure you, is not harmful. I exfoliate weekly, it keeps my dead skin cells turning over quicker, my skin smooth, and bright. You're just plain wrong in saying all exfoliating is BAD and harmful. Using a towel is still physical exfoliation.. . Lol

    • @Axb2774
      @Axb2774 4 роки тому +4

      T you totally missed the point of everything I just said... let me rephrase because I’m not sure if I used the right words to get my point across:
      - Towels shouldn’t be rubbed against the skin because they’re a physical exfoliant- I never said they were a good thing but they are a common form of exfoliation many don’t realize they’re doing. Use a cotton cloth and gently dab the skin until damp, but never until it’s completely dry. Apply moisturizer while still damp if you’d like- this can help with hydrophilic ingredients like hyaluronic acid!
      - Physical exfoliants aren’t inherently bad because they occur naturally even if you avoid it. I meant that actively going out of your way to scrub and scrape off facial skin on a weekly basis can be bad for you and can have serious consequences that extend beyond having dry skin.
      - I never said ALL exfoliation is bad, physical exfoliation happens naturally but should not be an extra step in a regular skincare routine. Chemical exfoliation is one of the best kinds of active exfoliation and should be performed in a controlled environment by a dermatologist with sterile equipment.
      Hope this clears up what I meant, I definitely wasn’t trying to come off malicious or convince you that all exfoliants are bad, because you’re right- they aren’t! They’re just used much more frequently than what is necessary or even beneficial, which can make skin even drier than before.

      As a person with oily acne prone skin there are products titled for oily skin yet do the complete opposite. They have nothing but oil/pore clogging ingredients. Oily skin is more complicated trust me. Try taking fish oil pills for dry skin.
      Just because there are products for oily doesn’t mean they work. Also oily skin breaks down makeup so it’s not like any of it works anyway

    • @thaely4668

      I know dry skin is hard to deal with, but I have to disagree on more products for oily. Every time I’m looking for skin products, it’s mostly for dry skin. There’s rarely any good products for oily skin. I even read reviews and people will say how the product is best for dry skin. In conclusion, both skin types suck!!

    • @kikisoto5612
      @kikisoto5612 4 роки тому +2

      v I still think dry skin is worst because even tho everything you’re saying about oily skin is true, when it comes to makeup especially there are powders and oil blotting sheet and other things that can help minimize the oil while white dry skin there aren’t many things that help keep skin hydrated, or even decently less dry. Trust me dry skin is worst.

Someone had kindly commented back to her, listing all the things that they had taken away from this video (in regards to dry skin). I've copied and pasted that reply below because it made me realize that Jaclyn actually did give some pretty dang good tips - and for whatever reason, I missed them.
      "Mixing a creamy stick foundation and using a pinch of liquid foundation to marry the two together, use cream bronzers instead of powders, use setting powder under the eye sparingly (no more than one layer), using sponges for foundation instead if brushes to press into the skin :) just a few i picked up on!" - Chelsey Manansala

    Ok shouldn't the skincare routine before the makeup be part of this? Because if you have dry skin prep is a HUGE part of making your makeup look good. And there are full coverage more hydrating concealers. If you're actually that dry you can't wear drying matte concealers without looking like the crypt keeper.

    • @mari22
      @mari22 4 роки тому +10

      Couldn’t agree more 😘
      Skin care + hydrating primers are everything with dry skin.
      And usually luminous/natural, light to medium cocerage foundations & tinted moisturizers work much better than full coverage.
      And spot concealing if needed. I love Too Faced BTW Concieler because of it’s full coverage, but not drying w skin like finish.

    I love the Smashbox primer oil trick! I’ve owned this primer oil for so long and haven’t known how to use it properly, and recently started incorporating it into my make up routine.
    I own the tart shape tape which has awesome coverage but is very drying on me, so I add one drop to the concealer and mix it on my hand. Then I apply the concealer under my eyes and blend it out with a sponge and WOW! I end up having the full coverage from shape tape with hydration, without it being very oily. The primer oil eventually sinks in and leaves a hydrated finish of the shape tape, my new go-to combination!

    Jaclyn, I just love how you still explain everything you do! Always teaching us! Not just quick talk throughs and products, you really tell us the why’s and how’s and it’s amazing!! I’ve been watching your videos since you first started in your kitchen! You have taught me so much about products and application. Thank you!!

    I learned how to do my makeup from your first videos and I’ve been watching your channel ever since and I’m so grateful for all the tips that you have taught me. I love how your channel has progressed throughout the years and I never stop learning new tips from you. I am so proud of you and how successful you have been, you have worked hard and it shows! Thank you for staying strong through all of the hate that UA-camrs unfortunately have to endure. I know you’ve made some comments about being insecure about your recent weight gain but honestly you look amazing! And it looks great when you highlight your cheeks, I do that too because of you. I don’t normally comment on videos but I felt I needed to let you know how much you have inspired me. Can’t wait for the next upload!

    21:12 is around the time she starts talking about the “trick” for dry skin. I’m not sure why the products she uses are no longer listed in her video descriptions, but the product is Smashbox Photo Finish Primer OIL.

      Julietta Grey Okay? Well if you watch the video from 21:12 on you’ll see that she explains how to apply it aka “the trick” she spoke of just learning.
      The trick she’s talking about is to put the oil primer on dry spots after you’re done with your makeup. Just watch the clip if you care to learn bc it’s a lot to explain here.... or if you don’t care to know then carry on with your life.

      Tiffany Swinford I just tried this trick today, but, I used my 100% squalene from the Ordinary and it worked with this, and my skin is sooooo dry, but, this actually made my skin & makeup look a lot better

    Love this video, and love jaclyn! Sometimes I dont love it when she films in front of people. It doesnt seem as personal. Sometimes it's fun to watch her friendships but the side talking to friends is kind of distracting. I understand she explains she isnt in her normal space at home, but her videos from the last year have been like this mostly. I love a mix of all kinds of videos !

      Same. Sometimes their inside jokes make me feel uncomfortable, is like she's not talking to me as a friend, but instead i'm interrupting their conversation.. Yeah i've feeling like that when she has ppl around since 2018. Is not that intimate or personal anymore (yes yes, i know YT is not personal 😅)

    I can’t even explain how amazing the primer oil trick is. My nose looks like alligator skin a few hours into my day all winter for as long as I’ve been wearing makeup. I’ve tried so many skin care product that didn’t help at all. I tried that trick this morning and it wasn’t just better it was not even an issue at all 🙌🏻. Thank you!!!!!
