First of all I have to say I love the positive vibes you give. I went to Germany for the first time in October of 2022. I split the time between Berlin and Munich and let me just say Berlin was absolutely awesome. I’m debating going back this year and splitting the time with Hamburg.
This is one of your very best videos. I love it. Throwing in some history and places of historical interest was a great idea. Your input about things was also very well done. Great job, Phoebe. Stay safe and have a great time in Europe. I call this video an A-Plus.
this was a nostalgic treat for me. having lived in berlin for 20 years watching you describe the city with such appreciation is heartwarming, lets me cruise my old hometown and enjoying its beauty from afar, thanks for your respectful und loving words especially about the historical aspects of the city culture ❤
I've just booked a solo trip to Berlin. I really wish I had watched this video before I booked- that hostel looks awesome and wish I was staying there instead of a hotel. Some great ideas for me in this video - thank you!
Guten Tag, the Berlin wall has cool graffitis of uniting the world, rather than dividing. You have such a beautiful, calm, and gentle voice like an angel 😇😇🥰🥰
Berlin can be dirty and big and some people hate it. To me it was always a place of freedom. Live and let live. Be yourself and try to enjoy life if you want to.
Being a Berliner living abroad now I know the city from my heart. It makes it different when it's your home town and you go there to see family and friends and get to the touristy places just to get a quick glance. Nevertheless, it's always interesting to see how others perceive the city.
Hi Phoebe, I’m watching one of your videos for the first time. I’m planning a trip to Berlin for about 5 days in December, and I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your video. ❤ It feels genuine and informative without being boring, and I love your way of explaining things. Just wanted to say thank you!
A few years ago I watched your videos to hype myself up for my exchange to brisbane. I did that last year and coincidentally wanted to do a Berlin trip this weekend and here we go. Perfect timing.
That hostel looks so great! The coffee you had looks insane too!!! Hope your tummy played along and you got som good rest before your next destination ❤❤❤
Hello Phoebe, we are glad that you had a wonderful time in Berlin. Harriet and I have been all over Germany including the east and west sides of Berlin. We have very close friends who live there. I first stayed at a hostel in Berlin when I was 18. I can remember one time going to Berlin alone. I took a tour on a hop on hop off bus, met a friend who we are still in touch with. Phoebe, this was a well-done video. You hit all the right notes with a calming musical theme. Giving us a brief history lesson that we should never forget. We think this video is a turning point in you truly turning the page to travel alone. Sending you much love from Richmond, Va.❤❤ Your dear friends Harriet, Jim and Yuki
Oh wow, that sounds so wonderful! So glad you found the balance of the past and present to be well done :) It's a difficult thing to put into video respectfully. Thank you so much. P x
Instantly subbed cause of your energy but then I saw the history you included in your vid and really loved it. Also the links you posted to the walking tours are so helpful, im going to be hitting a few cities and am 1000% going on some of these tours.
hahaha maybe when I'm able to bring a video editor onboard to help me we can increase the number of uploads :) For now, one a week is my max capacity ahhaha
I fly to Berlin from Houston tonight. I’ll be attending IFA Berlin from August 30-September 5 and hoping to spend a day sightseeing before the conference starts. Lots of great information in your video. I appreciate it!
At 17m50.... the row of cobblestones marks where the Wall stood. You can see this (or similar) in many locations across the city. I have a feeling that I need to visit Markthalle Neun on my next visit, those sorbets looked exquisite
When my boys were little I chose to stay at a few hostels in Queensland and rarely felt out of place..It definitely is a lot more sociable than staying at a motel or resort
Totally agree! It's so nice to feel like you're part of something and not cut off or isolated :) I love staying in beautiful hotels but this trip the hostels have been perfect for me. P x
Paris and London I was it as well I'd suggest try munich and cologne nuremberg and ulm basically as munch as germany and poland and the Czech Republic and Netherlands and Sweden as you possibly can and check vienna Austria as well
Im a Melbourian and i felt the same, like it was a suburb of melbourne…i felt so at ease in Berlin unless of course I tried to read something…love the food, cafe culture, unique quirky stores and art galleries Thank you 🙏
I do love when I do a group tour and we stay at hostels and we're all friends in the same dorm room... it's like one big sleepover every night :) so fun!
Hey there Phoebe your channel is amazeballs!!!!! Shout out to the Stomach Trouble Gang. Yeah, I totally feel you about being a little bit older and traveling, but you're never too old for new experiences or to re-experience something again. I was very blessed to partially grow up in Bavaria, and I love German efficiency and cleanliness.
Thanks to you, I have booked my 3 night stay at Circus Hostel for Late July. I am going on a two week Europe trip from California,. The first week, I want to socialize and meet people. The second week will be more relaxed with hiking paragliding etc. in the Swiss alps. I can't wait for my Hostel Circus stay. Amazing video by the way!
Thank you for providing Berlin travel information and pictures. I am from Taiwan and will arrive in Prague in mid-April. I will then go to Berlin for a few days. I’m looking forward to discovering surprising attractions and scenery in Berlin but also a little nervous.
Hi, I am actually from Germany and at the moment in Brisbane Australia for a long work trips. Your videos from a few years ago really helped me explore the region and make the most out of it. Thank you! Funny to see you in Germany now, definitely visit regions like Bavaria or cities like Heidelberg, Hamburg, Lübeck or Munich if you have the change, Berlin is personally not my favourite. I come from the region of Heidelberg so I can give you a few recommendations for cities and places to visit around.
Hello Phoebe again from Maida Vale Matt and Jenny. Berlin looks like our Fremantle in some way. the freo weather maybe a reminder gor us ? The hostel looks fab.
Hello Fibi in Berlin! 😆 * Great intro to the City. I've been researching Germany, as we'll likely be taking a trip to Bavaria and Switzerland soon, so, yeah...Berlin appears to be a complicated city and I think you summed it up well. * Great info as always on how to get around. We so wish the US had public transportation like Europe and Australia. Sounds like getting a reserved seat is a really good idea. (As is the day ticket--"Dark Riding" as it's called will get you in a bit of trouble and co$t a lot, I'm told). * A hotel with a great breakfast is essential, imo. Reduces stress knowing you can get a good breakfast to start the day. * I'm a WWII history buff (my Grandfather served in Europe and I was always fascinated by his stories), so I can't tell you how incredible your video and narration are. They really struck home and reminded me of my Grandfather's tales, as he was in Berlin during the end. Fantastic job giving the history of this difficult time. You did as the Germans seem to do--address this very dark time directly and acknowledge the horror so that it can never occur again. The Memorial in Berlin looked powerful and we know it was--we can hear it in your voice. (The image of the flowers really got me for some reason--it was beautiful). Your other shots are powerful and your narration was done with elegance and grace. It's very very hard and you did it so well. You took us on this journey and made it feel like we were with you and ensured the the history and the Memorial were the focus of attention (unlike some other videos I've seen where the attention is always focused on the presenter). The music was perfect as well. Well done. Seriously. * If ever you are in other parts of Germany, you'll see Stolperstien--stepping stones--which are small brass cubes placed in the ground next to homes and other locations indicating the last known place of Jews who were murdered by the Nazis. Just as powerful, I would imagine. * Excellent advice on joining a walking tour to learn about about where you are visiting. * I think on any journey, a "break day" is essential. We used to tell our guests at Disney that they should set aside an hour or two during the day to take a break. And, for longer stays, take a day off. Some of the best days for us on our recent journey in NZ and Australia were our break days--just relax and exist in the moment and in the city. (I miss sitting by the Brisbane River so much). When I saw your pics on IG, I guessed that's what you were doing--taking a break with a great coffee! (Isn't it cool that you can just "stumble" upon great places like that sometimes!) * The market looked great. We were worried the foods you were showing were gonna catch up with you--glad you managed to find something that worked for you (wasn't sure you'd be able to in Germany, knowing how heavy and meat-centered German food can be!). * Always blend berry and chocolate...the "dream" is right, according to Erin. * Happy to hear you were at ease in Germany. I'm a bit nervous visiting, since they speak a different language (I know they speak English, but German is the main language, which is why I've started to learn it. Shoulda done this back when I was in school--so much harder now!). Was the language any kind of barrier to your visit? Enough signage in English to help out? Just curious. * Back to cool music and quick shots of the city, including the Berlin Wall. * Spoiler alert--the photo made IG and looked good. * Thanks for the advice on a great way to see a city--bus tours (or, in the case of Christchurch, the tram like you suggested). Perfect. * Great quick and beautiful shots of the city--glad the weather improved over what you had so far in Europe. * Location for a hotel is critical. Awesome to do a hostel; gotta admit I've never done one (we're a bit old, I expect 🤣). Although...a brewery and a museum to the Hoff! 🤔 Not to mention that great night you obviously had (sounds like you lost a bit of your voice to the fun! Hahaha!) Also, you found your smile and shine there. * We agree--find ways to experience your journey with new people. One of my favorite moments on our recent trip was spending 2 hours with a local Kiwi in Welly, just drinking mulled wines and sharing stories. That's a unique moment worth remembering...like you partying with complete strangers who become your friends. How cool is that?!? * They say "you can't go back." Rubbish. Of course you can--it's just gonna be a new and sometimes better experience. * You can only expand your comfort zone by getting out of it. * Hopefully, you've been able to get some rest on this whirlwind tour of Europe. We are so looking forward to where we're going with you next week! * Phoebe, this was a wonderfully constructed video. Excellent telling of your visit--serious morning exploring history, take a break for coffee and lunch, and then transition into bus tour before finishing with the partying with new friends at night. Your music reflected each moment (that's gotta be hard to find the right music each week!), and you shared with us your feelings during each of those phases of what had to have been a memorable day. Really well done! Rob&Erin PS: You asked in our prior review if we were still traveling. Sorry to say, we're back home from your wonderful (and much cooler!) country. Missing the Koalas, the River, and Southbank so much. We're just prepping for our first hurricane of the season in (edit-it stayed away from us, but was bad far north of us 😞) and working toward our next getaway (Fla Keys--but only once the weather cools off!). Keep providing great info on Germany and Europe...that's gonna be our next "big" trip!
Just watching the 2nd video. Depending the time frame of your trips. You could have bought a Deutschlndticket for 49€ for a month. For all public regional transport in Germany
You handled the tone of that really well. It must be tough to find a level for something so sombre. Berlin is a fascinating city. One of the things that stood out for me is the old East still looking a bit grim. I'm glad to have seen it. If you haven't already Munich is well worth checking out. Another great video.
Thank you so much... I was unsure how it would all come together. It's so important to be present for the history and talk about it but finding that balance is challenging, like you said. I'm so glad it came across well. Have a great week! P x
Hi Phoebe, sorry for being late in watching this video, I was stuck in London because of an Air Traffic Control failure which made my flight being cancelled (I guess travel isn’t with me this year). However, I made the most of it and caught the ABBA concert at the time I was supposed to fly 😂 and KLM paid for dinner, hotel and breakfast, could’ve been worse. Berlin is a great city! I went there a few years for Lollapalooza festival, highly recommended! Public transport in Berlin is indeed very easy to use, however, nothing beats the TfL system in London. The memorials in Berlin are so impressive. It really is though to process what happened there. Caribbean food is always a good idea. I feel like summer when I eat it, it’s delicious, can’t wait to be in the Caribbean again. Thanks for sharing your way through Europe, it’s good to see so much recognition of all places I’ve been to. Have a good weekend 🤙
@@travelforphoebe the ABBA concert was great! It’s done with holograms for the 4 original singers but the vocals and the orchestra are all live! Little extra vacation on costs of KLM, not too bad indeed 😇
@@travelforphoebe Dont know if u prefer Fibi or Phoebe. Well, I call the coffee lifesaver and sometimes it klicks in the waiters brain. Need that first in the morning, so the world can come in peace with me. 😀
Come to INDIA you will find spritual journey here I am here to take care of your channel you will see that your channel will cross 100 k in next 4 months 👍👍👍👍
Funny you mentioned feeling completely relaxed in Berlin but not Paris. I've been to both many times, most recently the end of the year. Paris for a week just before Christmas (where we got sick… yeah, THAT), then my wife's sister in a cow town near Munich for a week over Christmas, and then Berlin for a week including New Year's Eve (which is absolutely INSANE). My wife has a niece who lives in Berlin, plus her much younger cousins and their four kids were there until very recently. So while I certainly know Berlin well, and it is more visiting family than being a tourist, I always tend to be a little on edge. Not that I'm afraid of crime or anything, or even getting lost, and yeah, I speak German enough to get around (and just about everyone in Berlin speaks English - I think literally more signs are in English than German), but I just always feel a little “off” for some reason. In Paris, though, I don’t. Like you said about you in Berlin, I feel completely relaxed in Paris. Perhaps it is because my French is a lot better than my German, but both are rusty. Berlin has a lot, but it is not a particularly beautiful city in my opinion. Paris, on the other hand, is probably one of the most beautiful cities in the world. As for your digestive issues, you're presumably lactose intolerant since you made a point of saying “dairy free” gelato (if you're ever in LA or NY or someplace else with an Eataly, try their non-dairy gelato because it is amazing). Another common one is gluten sensitivity or intolerance, which is different from true celiac disease (which is an actual allergy). But a lesser known issue is onion and garlic sensitivity (ask how I know). Supposedly, about 10% of the population has it to some degree, some with almost undetectable symptoms and others with severe reactions. Many follow a “FODMAP” diet which restricts certain types of foods, while others can get by just eliminating the garlic/onion family (which includes garlic, onions, green onions, chives, leeks, shallots, etc.). If you have seemingly random issues, keep a diary of what you eat and check for any commonalities of ingredients. I came across your videos randomly and have watched a few now. Love the videos and your seeming humanity and personality coming through, rather than trying to show some fake version of what a UA-camr “should” be.

Rob&Erin
PS: You asked in our prior review if we were still traveling.
Try poland at sometime as krakow is lovely as well it used to the capital of poland
Never too old for a hostel🙂
Agreed!
Just watching the 2nd video. Depending the time frame of your trips. You could have bought a Deutschlndticket for 49€ for a month. For all public regional transport in Germany
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Good video❤
Oh wow!! How was the ABBA concert??! Not a bad outcome there at all, Felix! I'm so glad you got a little extra vacation :)
@@travelforphoebe the ABBA concert was great! It’s done with holograms for the 4 original singers but the vocals and the orchestra are all live! Little extra vacation on costs of KLM, not too bad indeed 😇
I love Berlin

@@travelforphoebe Dont know if u prefer Fibi or Phoebe. Well, I call the coffee lifesaver and sometimes it klicks in the waiters brain. Need that first in the morning, so the world can come in peace with me. 😀
I actually really enjoy the Fibi, it feels like our own little UA-cam in-joke 😍

Love the videos and your seeming humanity and personality coming through, rather than trying to show some fake version of what a UA-camr “should” be.
its my plessure to subscribed your channel .
Good
