Happy Friday! YES! Notion released Notion Automations! 🎉 Are you using them? Well - to celebrate - I've made you all a new Notion template! 📣 Download your copy of the Essential Task Manager Notion template here from $0! www.bettercreating.com/taskmanager
You could set the view to ignore orphaned tasks and then delete those manually during your review. I wouldn't delete the project, though, as that would also delete any research I had put into it. You could add a status of "Deleted" in projects and tasks, then set a trigger to change the status of all related tasks to "deleted" when that's chosen in projects. Then, set your views to ignore tasks and projects with a "Deleted" status. During your scheduled reviews, you then select to view all "Deleted" tasks and projects and manually delete them. Either way seem like they would effectively solve your orphaned tasks issues until Notion adds the feature to delete all associated tasks.
This is awesome. Notion has such a learning curve but I'm really excited that it can yield so many benefits once I get a bit more familiar. Can I tryout your automation templates if I'm using another template from another productivity creator?
Thanks for this! Is it possible to create an automation where when a box is checked on a page, it will duplicate that page? I have a sales booking database, which needs to be organized by 'week start date.' I would like to have a 'renew booking' checkbox which when selected, will do the following: A) Duplicates the booking page (which contains all the company information, etc. from that booking). B) Adjusts the 'week start date' on the new booking to the next week C) Unchecks the 'renew booking' box on the new booking. B) & C) seem pretty straightforward, it's really A) that I cannot figure out using the new Notion automations. Right now I am using copy and paste to duplicate, but it slows things down if I have 100+ sales bookings each week.
I'm new to notion still & a bit overwhelmed lol but this definitely helps a lot! So glad I found your channel such valuable content & resources, thank you! ☺
If I create a new task within a project, is it possible to have certain properties within that task (like priority, area, goal, etc) auto populate to reflect those properties that are in the parent project? Similarly, is it possible to have this task auto relate itself to the parent project?
I cannot seem to access the free template I click on the button and I get a success message but I do not receive an email nor am I redirected to the page that allows me to download the template
That’s strange… does it it takes you to the download page once you sign up? There you can enter $0 in the price field if you want it for free and then you’ll have it. If you are able and want to to support my work on it, you can enter an amount. If you can’t get to that download page - just drop me an email at notion@bettercreating.com and I can sort it for you directly / look into the issue! Many thanks!
Other thank workspace membership for teams - most features on Notion are free: I’m kind of OK about this - but I do think a few options would be very welcome for automations on the free plan!
The automations are great for smaller things, setting statuses and the like, but theres still no real solution for templating larger projects in Notion.
Absolutely - best way to access is with free templates like this one at moment - I see why Notion are putting this behind a paywall - as there is still 90% of all functionality on the free plan.

Good walkthrough!
Cheers!

Hi Thanks! is it possible to automate that when I click on 'Done' the next person who is in the task next, can see it or is tagged automatically?

Forgot to mention all solved now once you sent me the direct link! Thanks so much... As always!
these features should be free , i don't understand why such a core feature is paid ?

Man, I don't get this crap at all. Not from your explaination but it's just confusing lol
Haha - I feel you: I must say I felt the same - but unlock the basics and it can be a time making game changer!
Don't want to pay for automations.
