What a lovely lady, smartly understanding and supporting literacy, a fundamental need especially to the economically challenged. Reading IS Fundamental!
@Alice Wang: Well, if women and men were cappuccino machines, people (both men and women) would probably find the man doing it very unattractive and probably enjoy the woman doing it. Come to think of it, there are all sorts of banal things that people find interesting simply by the fact that a woman is doing them. A woman's femaleness I guess turns everything to gold in many people's eyes, and I guess women are somehow oppressed by that fact?
My daughter is now 27, and a blues singer in Nashville. Early on I inflicted on her the twin curses of a love of music and of reading, and she's taken both and run with them! A shout out to Led Zep, Tolkien and Kurt Vonnegut!
The internet always finds a way to be mad and Tina Fey always finds a way to throw a line to those of us still coming up while being endlessly funny. #ReadingIsFundamental
7:45 "My charity is I'm giving books to children in all 50 states!! How're you gonna be mad about that?" Tina Fey "I'm not mad about this. ...or AM I?" -Mike Pence Tina Fey is AWESOME. 💁🇨🇦 I love book, too.
+Volvican Well, I hope it isn't. Was that about America or the entire world? I mean, keeping in mind that many people don't have the interesting books tó read or money to go to the library and hire the books, still I hope it isn't true.
It's not lack of books causing illiteracy, it's trauma, poverty, parents who are undersupported, and schools that don't give kids the time and space to love learning, but focuses on tests.
My parents pretty much INSISTED that my brother and I read. Not reading came with spanking. I have a learning disability where math is concerned, so even spanking didn't work for that. Yelling at me didn't work either. But the whole reading thing, thankfully became as natural and necessary as breathing.
You know why I love her? Because I know women like her, I am friends with women like her and she stands up and shows the world that there are women like her. Smart, focussed, ambitious and fucking hilarious. May the world be full of cappuccino machines!
IMO - Reading has turned into a lost art. Printed books are nostalgic, and there's such an influx of multimedia content that the fundamental skill of reading is overlooked and (even early on in life) doesn't become a priority. Something to consider is that giving a child a book doesn't ensure that they'll read it, read it fully, or understand the messaging behind it. I think we need to solve this issue from a different approach, like finding their passion through whichever genre would resonate with their personal interests.
She is one of the few adults that actually GET children, or my generation. Millenials, born between the birth of AIDS and 9/11, and this is why I'm the only person I know that spells things all correctly in even a text message. I always have loved books and reading.
Are all women employed in the entertainment industry powerful? Rachel Dratch may differ on that point. I like Tina alot, but please... community, women, community, women, power, women, community, women, power, power, community, etc.. There just has to more to say.
Think of all the oxygen that 450 million books worth of trees could have provided you heartless hussy! (Sorry, that was the best I could do; I'm not really any good at this.)
Males are naturally providers. If they’re not providing they’re useless. Women choose singlehood and their community of female friends over a mediocre male every time
I have a question . People make these shows like POWER of WOMEN. But had guys had a similar show like POWER OF MEN wouldn’t it be called sexist ? The very fact that people are okay with such a title shows that they truly think women are inferior. A person who would be a true feminist cannot unsee the title. Am I thinking right or there is a point I am missing here ?
Alison James umm she was in several improv and sketch groups at Second City and Improv Olympic, the first woman head writer for SNL, the writer of Mean Girls, and creator of the Emmy-record winning 30 rock. Just an actress, yeah right
Tina Fey is the best living comedy writer. There! I said it!
Shahaan nah I'd easily put her above all those guys. Easy.
What a lovely lady, smartly understanding and supporting literacy, a fundamental need especially to the economically challenged. Reading IS Fundamental!
Tina, you're fundamental to our sanity.
Her passion and activism for reading is just another piece of her awesomeness. 💜💜
Tina Fey, the world desperately needs more amazing women like you! You are a legend in my book!
Love reading. Love fun brave smart women. Love intelligent visionaries. Love you, Tina!
Terrific speech and wonderful gal. As a teacher, so happy that she is partnering with RIF!
The cappuccino machines analogy is on point.
...Did she also forget to take her award with her!?
THAT'S WHAT JANGSTERZ DO
I mean, she has so many lol

450 mil books. Woah. That's a lot of trees. Tina fey is the best. An icon for our generation.
Yeap. Someone find a way to be mad about that.
Jesús Ángel Rondón it felt like a challenge lol. I love Tina more than trees. She has given me way more. Just don't mention oxygen and such.
An excellent argument for legalizing hemp.
"I am pound-sign blessed" -Tina Fey 2018
She has the best quotes!
Currently applying to school to better learn screenwriting because of this lovely woman. I’ve been a fan of Tina since I was 12.
If reading proficiency is at 37%, I don't want to know where we are at mathematics proficiency..
the uk ranks 27th in the world and 21 in literacy
I love the way she says 70’s.
7:45 "My charity is I'm giving books to children in all 50 states!! How're you gonna be mad about that?" Tina Fey

Getting new books makes any day awesome
Spot on. 💕 Women helping Women.
Just saw the most recent Mission Impossible and felt the need to rewatch this...
I read the other day that 33% of people don’t read another book after high school. They didn’t cite a source but if true, that’s shocking.
+Volvican
Well, I hope it isn't. Was that about America or the entire world?

deidreautumn yes but this gives kids who couldn’t otherwise have a book or many books a chance to read new things
This stage reminds me of BIC pen For Her.

You know why I love her? Because I know women like her, I am friends with women like her and she stands up and shows the world that there are women like her. Smart, focussed, ambitious and fucking hilarious. May the world be full of cappuccino machines!

Arkojyoti Raychaudhuri the whole damn world is power of men, jackass
Every show celebrates the power of men.
Im not sure about that... They both need maintenance
She's the best. But damn, that is one ugly background. I mean, chain link??
I'm so sad to see that Tina Fey has bought into the victim culture motif.
She just embraced the word Bitch, you moron.
She is an actor.... boring and sucking up to this fun
Alison James umm she was in several improv and sketch groups at Second City and Improv Olympic, the first woman head writer for SNL, the writer of Mean Girls, and creator of the Emmy-record winning 30 rock. Just an actress, yeah right
Haaaa this is such a bad take
