    But what if I don't know the weight of my project and am trying to figure out how much to buy.

      The pattern usually tells you how much you need otherwise it’s hard to determine. This is more for “how much have I used” - you can also weigh a similar project to get a rough idea of how much you need or buy more than you need in the same lot number (very important!) 😉
