Agree.. There a lot of people out there overpaying various brocantes for terrible old tat that looks like stuff my Aunty Doreen ditched in 1970. Just because something is old doesnt necessarily make it beautiful or practical in the modern world. I laugh at all the men cooing over manky old copper pans that they're never really going to cook in, or polish 😄
There are chateau owners that want to make a business out of the chateau keeping the interior design and decor the closest possible to the time the chateau was built and it really works. Europeans and people from all over the world like to get marry and stay in a chateau that is restored with antiques. Chateau Lalande is one of them. The chatelaine Stephanie and her team has done a great work making of Chateau Lalande a prosperous business.
You blend old and modern beautifully. I agree with the sentiments here in that you have the best taste of any of the Chateau channels. I hope it grows❤

The Black would have looked great with the black poster bed, and true the armour did't fit in, but the grey paint works beautifully matching the fireplace perfectly. Great job guys, love it
The new guest bedroom is beautiful. It’s so elegant. The leak at the window with the faulty keystone could have a temporary solution if you add a shield of sorts just below the bottom of the stone to divert the water . Amanda, you and Lincoln have great taste.

The sofa is perfect for the room. Perhaps what it needs is a small side table next to the fireplace? The room might also benefit from a large floor rug to tie the room together. The bed is wonderful! It is a lovely room, made all the more exquisite by the presence of the cat. I applaud your devoted love of the creatures in your care. Beautifully done.
The guest room is lovely,i especially love the marble coffee table, in my opinion,I would put a rug underneath,to give the room a more cosy feel , I think the couch is a perfect size,love stripe fabric in any shape or form!👌

I love the new guestroom. Your color selection was excellent. I loved the white plate with the angel face that you placed on top of the fireplace. I absolutely loved that. I also really liked the fireplace inserts and the personal touches of the pictures. The picture of your donkey made me smile. Here is my thought process on the sofa. I would leave that one there and not get anything bigger. The Jewel of the room is that fireplace and I think a bigger sofa would steal some of its thunder. When you walk into the room you want your eyes to go to the fireplace not the big leather sofa, that’s just my opinion, I never saw an armoire with mirrors on the front and I absolutely love that too. You and Lincoln did a beautiful job. I would also like to add that I’m glad you took your time panning around the room so we could really absorb everything you did.
The bedroom is beautiful! Also, I grew up around horses and burros. It's funny but they won't go into shelter during bad weather. Another funny thing is, in our case, the burros would go into canyons during windy blizzards but the horses would not. It's not so windy in the bottom of a canyon. In more recent years, we had a horse who joined the herd. That particular horse will go into a barn during particularly bad weather and other horses tend to follow. But, in the end, they all tend to stand there, outside, with their backside towards the wind, and suffer through it. That's what they've been doing for hundreds of thousands of years. If you have a blizzard, I'd do everything I can to get them out of the wind.
@@OurFrenchChateau Honestly, I would not worry about it if I were you. Burros are smart - at least compared to horses (and perhaps a few people). But, here is a suggestion: you could find a feed they particularly like. In the part of the world I live in, we have something that is called cotton seed cake. It's candy for burros and horses (and cattle). Develop a call for your donkeys or get a horn or bell or something you could train them with - like Pavlov's dog. Yell out your donkey call and give them their donkey candy in their shelter. Maybe they'll stay there in bad weather. Burros are herbivores and herd animals. They like to be in the open where it is easier for them to watch for predators. The only thing you really need to watch for is prolonged blowing snow. The snow can build up around their noses (like stucco) and suffocate them. I don't see France having too many blizzards like that. Anyway, love your program and your chateau. It's not too plain, not too over-the-top, nicely distanced away from cities and highways, and is just right. You and your family are doing it a great service.

You live near the coast. As you probably learned from living in the Bay Area, there are sea and land breezes that result from the temperature differences between the land and large bodies of water. The English Channel is quite deep and cold, with fast-moving currents that keep water temperatures quite low. These wind-effects occur at different times of the day, because of the warming and cooling effects of the sun. The strength of these winds is often a function of the local topography, with Brittany seeing stronger winds because the area is relatively flat…

Have you ever considered a run in shed for the donkeys or a lean to by the donkey house. Horses don’t like spaces where they don’t see the horizon. I can’t imagine they ever go into the donkey house but a lean to that keeps them out of the rain and wind with 2 sides open would get them out of wet weather. Getting wet this much doesn’t dry quickly
Stunning transformation. I love every single thing you both did. The armoire is huge. So beautiful. The guest room looks like a beautifully appointed luxury hotel. The plate on the mantle is very interesting with the head of cherub? Not sure because it is sticking its tongue out.

So restrained and elegant… especially the blue/green side table, rug, and gorgeous armoire that add warmth and joy to the room. Have you considered adding curtains? (Sorry I find bare windows in contrast to the molding, ceiling, and other architectural character a bit too cold and drab.)
When I first saw one of the bedside tables, I thought, wauw - what a beauty, compared to alot of the ones I've seen! Beautifully aged wood! Next clip, I see, that there is actually a matching pair, which is not so easy to find. Then, I see, that you painted them.....🙄 Watching this channel, I am always reminded of Hyacinth and Richard. The colors you finished with are Perfect! I love the side tables colors too. Not fond of small sofa but maybe if you brought in the greyleather longer sofa you could find room for it elsewhere
I too like a touch of black here and there. My fireplace surround in the living room is black, my valance in my breakfast room has a black background but I have never been brave enough to paint black on a wall. Sorry you didn’t begin painting by the armoire first. I do like to wear it occasionally as well. The Audrey Hepburn sweater and pencil pants are the best.

When I first saw one of the bedside tables, I thought, wauw - what a beauty, compared to alot of the ones I've seen! Beautifully aged wood! Next clip, I see, that there is actually a matching pair, which is not so easy to find. Then, I see, that you painted them.....🙄

The colors you finished with are Perfect! I love the side tables colors too. Not fond of small sofa but maybe if you brought in the greyleather longer sofa you could find room for it elsewhere
I too like a touch of black here and there. My fireplace surround in the living room is black, my valance in my breakfast room has a black background but I have never been brave enough to paint black on a wall. Sorry you didn’t begin painting by the armoire first. I do like to wear it occasionally as well. The Audrey Hepburn sweater and pencil pants are the best.
