Note: you can record a full imagery with all overscans with Fraps and BlastEm, in resolution of 694x588. You need to find defauld.cfg and change the appropriate lines as following, both for ntsc and pal: (...) video { #special value "stretch" will cause aspect to match window aspect ratio aspect stretch width 694 (...) #for square pixels and zero border in V30 mode #coment out those two lines and uncomment these top 0 bottom 0 #these values will completely hide the horizontal border left 0 right 0 (...) ...and scale the visible area to 588 pixels height for PAL roms and 488 for NTSC roms (480 in the interlaced mode).
Never did I think to see a full screen rotating fractal on a genesis.
This demo gets my heart beating every time
it is my favorite tech demo on Mega Drive/Genesis
Uhhh... shouldn't your heart always be beating? I think you need to get it checked if it only works when watching a megadrive demo....
nice visualization
3:05 wtf is going on in CRAM!? 🤯

A total guess: palette changes during the frame?
Rave
Per-line pallette changes. In BlastEm, it is actually visible with some VDP dots leftwise of the vectorballs, and on the hardware the dots are hidden
