Dude! Cole! This is an awesome overview! Every video angle showed off the system really well. Thank you so much for dropping the link in the description and for showing the ins and outs of the DWELL SHELL. Really great job man.
@ im not sure what youre comparing it too but for the money it seems like a really good choice. you can still use your truck like a truck but have the option to camp in a solid wall shelter with a decent amount of room. I know I haven't seen anything on the market like it and to create your own would likely cost more than $15K
@ what are you going on about they added some fold out panels to a topper and are charging 15k for it you can you can buy a whole 16 foot camper for the same price. sure different use cases but the point stands it shouldn't cost 15k. is it cool? sure but it'd be even cooler without the overland bro tax.
It’s obvious a truck camper isn’t your preferred choice and that’s totally fine. Just for reference a Super Pacific camper is 14k and it’s still fabric. For those that understand this industry 15k is pretty fair.
Love the idea of the solid walls. But there certainly are some drawbacks here. Like you mentioned, no screens on the main 3 doors. The windows have no blackout, or screens. The bed platform creates too much fussing around for sure. I can see shifting around of whatever items you have up there being a PIA. No mattress is wired. Inflatable ones, again, are adding time to setup and takedown. A bed system like in the AluCab would streamline these tasks greatly. Anyway, these companies need to get more creative. It's almost like they got to their prototype and decided to just market that rather then refine it. Thanks for the video. Well done 👍👍
Great comment! If you have followed us with our other products, we are constantly innovating and refining our products. As Cole mentioned in this video, screens, new panel system, and built in mattress are all in the works. Stay tuned on it! We appreciate your comment, thank you for confirming the refinements that we are currently working on.
Thanks for that review Cole. I actually just put a deposit on a dwell shell and I'm looking forward to working with them on some of the mods you talked about today and in previous videos. Also on the hunt for a Decked system but thinking I'm going to end up buying a new one at this point. Definitely the coolest setup I've seen and like you said, you get to still use your truck with this system too.
@@brianhennessey9563 awesome man! I think you will love it. I’ll keep you updated with future mods and how they work so you know what you want to add to yours.
Hey Cole. I just noticed the gaps at the corners of the shell, in your video. How big are they and how drafty would you say the unit is? I tried to add a screenshot of what I saw but they are visible at approximately 7:59 in this video. Thank you
Good eye, AntiShanty told me those are to help circulate the air and avoid condensation. With it being at your feet I’ve never felt any draft coming in. Most of the other truck camper companies have started adding some kind of permanent vent somewhere in their fabric to help with condensation.
Hey Cole, not sure if I missed it in this or past videos, but did you ever get an exact weight for this topper? Their website just lists an average weight of ~380 lbs. I have a Raptor with the same bed size and was curious what the exact weight of yours was.
Thank you for watching! Hiatus is heavier, more expensive and just didn’t quite fit my needs. I’ve known the AntiShanty team for years (which does make me biased) but I trust their quality and service.
@ Thanks Cole. How tall are you? My only hesitation with the wedge style is having enough room for feet at the bottom. Fuel economy makes sense, but 3 MPG is a lot. I wonder if building a fairing between the cab and cab over portion would help much.
I’m 6’2” and have tons of room. 3MPG might be a little dramatic. I would need to test it again to get a more accurate measurement. Plan to have a roof rack on the cab at some point which should help with air flow.
@ Thanks Cole. Great to hear there’s plenty of room inside. And yeah with a 3 mpg drop I’d probably keep my current canopy and put the Dwell Shell on just for bigger camping trips. Closer to 1 and I’d leave it on full time. But I drive 30-40k a year. Wouldn’t be a big deal if it was a full time adventure rig.
Cole, I forgot to ask but what kind of changes to your gas mileage are you seeing with the Dwell Shell? Is there any interaction/interference with your shark fin antenna (not sure if your truck has one on the back of the roof or not)?

You're the only one on yt doing a review on this! Thx!
You bet! Thank you for watching
that's because its a 15k topper lmao

@ANTISHANTY First saw this RTT on "No Perfect Plan" maybe over a year ago, and really began to like how easy and fast it was for her to set up.
@@onasledoverland Love to hear that! This is great feedback, thank you again.
Like the hard sides but wish the bed was also on hinges and one piece.

Thanks Cole…I have a different set up but like seeing what you’ve done.
Appreciate you watching 👍
I love the truck, keep up the hard work bro
Appreciate that! Thank you 🫡

found you from that peckbrothers video! keep up the good work
Thank you for watching!
sweet setup bro
Thanks, appreciate it!
Any pull down shade covers on the windows for blackout blinds or anything?
The tern windows come with some but they don’t fit great when folding. Might tint them or DIY some shades.

They told me 375 when I got it installed 👍
@coleeades perfect, thanks man!
Great video. What made you choose this over a Hiatus? How much of an impact have you noticed with mpgs?
Thank you for watching!
Hiatus is heavier, more expensive and just didn’t quite fit my needs.

No MPG drop while city driving. But highway driving above 70mph I loose 1-3 MPG if I remember correctly.

My fin is in the front but there’s tons of clearance. City driving my MPG is the same. I loose about 1-3 MPG if I’m above 70mph.
