It was a good drafts for Phins IMHO. Been following the team since the early Shula years when I lived in Clearwater. Still have concerns about the OL. Love your podcast. Very honest and realistic.

Malik Washington had the best catch percentage and created the most missed tackles after the catch in the class. Will go up and get the ball and is very explosive by the numbers. He also played slot most of his time in college

As a Patriots fan it sickens me that the fish got my favorite player in this whole draft in Malik Washington they should be arrested for grand theft getting him in the 6th rd and Mo Kamara was a steal as well. Here is a hot take, Kamara will be a better pro than Chop Robinson and I’m willing to put cash money on that

Malik it’s the same height/speed/arm length as Tank Dell. I don’t get why people are doubting he can be NFL ready.
USC fans love Tahj. They think he was the best WR on the team. Moves really well with the ball in his hands. Both Washington’s seem to be QB friendly. They know how to get open for the QB.
McMorris is a guy the scouts went crazy for when the pick came up. They really wanted him.

That's what I don't get, and Malik was insanely productive in college. I don't think he matches that second best pff graded reciever, pff graded deep threat, etc... that he was. But I'd seen him as third or fourth rounder for sure

I watched Patrick mcmorris highlights and it looked like he lined up at free, strong and crowded the line in that small sample, I would like to check the stats on that. He showed some good instincts

Considering Miami needs a WR3, this doesn't bode well for Ezukama since they already have Barrios and Cracraft, and took fliers on Chosen and the Pittsburgh WR. Both Washington receiver will need to earn their spot on 53 man roster based upon ST play and new Kickoff rules. I saw some good plays from bubble screens.
The HB seems good, both on pass protection and runs through the gaps. Definitely can see some duties on 3rd downs and when Achane/Mostert gets dinged up alongside Chris Brooks. Probably won't see any more of Jeff Wilson, Gaskins, or Ahmed.
Can't say much about the safety other than he is a body for ST and 3rd safety, aside from probably getting some in FA. Chop will probably start prior to Phillips and Chubb getting back. Can't say the same for Paul as he probably will be stuck as secondary swing tackle behind Kendall Lamm and Kion Smith. Definitely one for the future.

I dont think E EZ has been training for slot but more of a flex, like tanner conner and a few others we've tried at that position, a new wrinkle. I believe he's been adding weight and learning new routes/responsibilities that he isn't familiar with, from my understanding of reports

So how about one final draft episode ranking the teams from "reached least" to "reached most" using your draft pick positon vs draft pick projection numbers?

Mo Kamara is definitely not a one year wonder he has be very good for a few years now He is a technician that knows how to use his hands an set up blockers he is better than Chop Robinson. Getting him and Malik Washington with consecutive picks was damn good drafting both these players will contribute right away

I like the Paul pick! The Dolphins had someone working with him in the off season, I can't think of the name, but it was something that Terron Armstead was part of too. Who knows how much he may have improved already. He is 6 foot 7 and ways 330, but the scarry part is how strong he is! He has huge arm length, usually people that have long arms don't do as well the 225 pound bench press. A person with shorter arms doesn't have to lift as high to press it. Paul did 30 reps of 225 pounds, that would be like a guy with average arm length getting it 38 to 40 times. Give this guy a year of coaching and hill be fine! Look at how much Butch Barry improved Austin Jackson in just one year.

I like the Wright and Kamara picks. They will contribute right away.
The M. Washington and T. Washington picks are ok. One of them will most likely make the team and contribute on Special Teams.
Drafting “project” players like Robinson and Paul in rounds 1 and 2 really pisses me off. Why Grier does this time after time is beyond me because his track record is not good with these types of players.
The Patrick McMorris pick is a total waste. I have no idea why we drafted him ahead of the BC O/G Mahagony. The last time I checked, IOL is a huge problem for this team and Mahogany had a 3rd round grade according to most of the “experts” and was perfect for our zone blocking scheme.

Robinson isn't a project. The complaint against him is lack of statistical production. He creates QB pressure, which is as good as a sack, and it doesn't get reflected in the stat line. He'll play immediately and will likely get 50% of the total snap count in his rookie year. For a rotation-based defense like the Dolphins', that'll be huge. He can also fall back into coverage, so he's not a one trick pony. Can he do a better job of setting the edge against the run? Yeah, sure. Will it matter that much when the Dolphins will be playing with a lead in most games? Not really.
Paul isn't a project either. He was the #1 rated pass protector in the FBS in 2023. His run protection needs work, but he's a 6'7'' 318lbs wall of meat; he's going to move people out of the way even if he doesn't do all the secret hand-signalling that coaches swear is the magic trick to being a competent lineman. Whatever he needs to know will be coached in by Butch Barry and reinforced by Terron Armstead, who by the way already considered retiring and is likely to do so next year.
Everyone passed on Mahogany. Repeatedly. There's something there in the medical eval, possibly related to his knees, that scared teams away. The Dolphins also simply do not value guards as highly as their fans. They care more about players who can play more than one position on the OL, like swing tackles.
This was a really good draft. Grier played the hand he was dealt very well. Remaining must-have positions will be filled when the second round of free agency kicks in June 1. Could also be helped by a trade, now that the Dolphins have a bounty of excess in a few positions.
