I’m a granddad and I find this to be a wonderful heart warming video. That young lady made that granddads day by asking him and I’m sure what ever was on his calendar for that day will just have to wait. ❤️
My daughter was murdered in may of 2020-just a few days before mothers day- leaving a six year old son.
The class had colored a poem to take home for their "mothers". When my grandson went back to school his
'poem' came home in his backpack! He cried and said he didn't have a moma any more....
I put that poem in a fancy frame and we took it to the cemetery!
A lot of children don't have an 'in residence' parent--but they have a person who takes care of them. Life is tough, and words hurt.

I lost my dad to suicide when I was 5 years old, so I know the feeling. Thank God for my stepdad, who filled out the “job”. But I often still think “what would my life be like, if he was still here” and I am 48 y.o. ❤

This was the most beautiful thing I've seen in a long time! It looked like the realization that her dad wasn't able to go hurt her little heart but that she has grandpa to go with her is truly an amazing gift!🥺🥰

We went through similar experiences with my two daughter’s . We never “knew” who’d be so Perfect for such a “leading role” as this!!?? It’s been my Dad as well and he has been there for them no questions asked or if he was even busy!? He’d always oblige and cancel anything he might have had going on!! He’s been the most consistent Man of the girl’s life! And he has just walked my Girl down the Isle and it all started just about this Sweet Baby Girls age with Grandpa!!

Years ago, my girlfriend's granddaughter was living with us. One of these dances came up when she was in first grade and her dad was a lowlife. She was scared to ask me if I wanted to go. Gramma said "just ask him". Well she asked. Not only did I say yes, we got in the car and went shopping. Came back with the dress, shoes, everything. It actually was a fun time!

I loved my daddy daughter dances in elementary school. Some of the best memories were me and my dad raiding the Chick-fil-A nuggets they catered, hitting the chocolate fondue fountain, and then dancing the Macarena. That about sums me and my daddy up 😂❤️ I’ll never forget those times!

My little one doesn’t have a dad either. My daddy is her best friend. I pray he lives long enough to be her superhero just like he’s always been mine. It makes me so sad to know that one day, Superman will have to fly away forever 😢.

My grand daughter’s school is having a father- daughter dance. Her Daddy told her that he had to much going on. In my mind, I wanted to say, you don’t work, so what is so important that he could not go. So, she asked her mother’s boyfriend which is my son and he told her, he would be honored to go with her. He has been more of a father to her than her own Dad. It takes more than a spermicide to be a father and my son has stepped up to the plate for this child.
Honestly, events like these are just made for heartache for so many for many reasons. Absent and dead fathers, ones working out of town, same sex couples, ones in prison, kids in foster care. Just in general it once again singles out those without the perfect cookie cutter family
You have obviously raised a truly fine MAN, Mom~Can only imagine how very PROUD you are of him, plus how really BLESSED this little girl is to have his mentoring & LOVE in her life☆♡☆♤☆♡:)

Yes I have sympathy towards kids who can't bring their 'dads' , but such events do give dads a chance to connect with their children and be appreciated. Maybe the schools can rename the events as Valentines day parent-daughter dance or sth to be more inclusive .

We didn't have these in my school when I was growing up. I think (?) I wish I could have gone to one of these events with my father. It's moot now, but I do wish I had done more with him. In a few years I hope to see him again in some form.

This reminds me so much of my dad and baby girl. My dad took my daughter to her first daddy daughter dance. My dad who never dressed up showed up dressed to the hilt with a corsage and took her out for the evening and they had the most precious picture from the dance. I know my dad loved me but to see the absolute love the had for her since the moment she was born was amazing. Hepassed away not long after that. It's been 12 years and my daughter is 20 and the one picture that had always hung and still hangs in her apartment is that picture from their dance
My grandfather was the best. He was a father to me because mine wasn't in the picture. He passed when I was 11 but even at 34 I still cry and mourn him. When someone loves you that much the memory of how it felt lasts a lifetime.

We have a great niece that asked her great uncle ( my husband) to take her to the same kind of dance. Of course, he said, "Yes."So we drove 2 hrs there and 2 hrs back. They both had a good time. My husband is not a dancer [ he thinks it's a waste of good energy], 😄but it made her happy and that's what counted.

That just put the biggest smile on my face ever! 😃 my dad died when I was 29 (we've never been to a daddy-daughter dance) and neither of my 2 kids have ever had a dad in their lives. I thank God that my daughter has never had one of these because it would break her heart not to be able to go.
